("Wait for it" is our daily dose of something to look forward to in pop culture. Who says optimism is dead?)
Stretch alert: Tom Cruise and Ben Stiller are teaming up to play grown boys. The pair have signed on to star in Hardy Men, a where-are-they-now-based take on the Hardy Boys mysteries of juvenile fiction and TV. Sean Levy (Night at the Museum, The Pink Panther) has been tapped to direct the flick, which is being sold as a "buddy action comedy." It will concern the Hardys, who after years of an estranged adulthood, have to reunite to kick some mystery ass.
Tom Cruise isn’t exactly a no-brainer for comedy, but there’s hope. I’m most excited for a Hardy Boys story that is a) new and b) not accompanied by that weird acid smell that emanated from those dusty hardback books growing up.
