Mark Wahlberg is glad he was passed up for a role in Brokeback Mountain because the prospect of getting all up in another dude’s linens on screen made him squeamish (he and Joaquin Phoenix originally were considered for the roles of Ennis Del Mar and Jack Twist). Sayeth Marky:
"I met with [director] Ang Lee on that movie, I read 15 pages of the script and got a little creeped out. It was very graphic, descriptive – the spitting on the hand, getting ready to do the thing. I told Ang Lee, ‘I like you, you’re a talented guy, if you want to talk about it more…’ Thankfully, he didn’t."
Wahlberg adds that he’s yet to even watch Brokeback, qualifying the gay-cowboy flick as "just not my deal." Alert! Alert! Rehab needed! Someone ship him away to get over his fear of foreign penis, stat!
Just kidding. He isn’t afraid at all — he’s clearly protesting too much. Check out what really went down during his revealing embrace with Leonardo DiCaprio after The Departed was named Best Picture at Sunday’s Academy Awards.
