Tour Survival Guide: Rooney

Rooney

Now and then our Tour Survival Guide will check in with rockers about life on the road. Here’s Rooney‘s Robert Schwartzman and Ned Brower on mainlining sugary cereal, getting decked in England and forgetting where you’ve been.

Music For Celebs To Do Drugs To
Ned Brower: We played four nights at the Roxy just before we left. Mischa Barton showed up in our dressing room on psychedelic mushrooms, which was really weird. Needless to say she loved the show.

Wherever You Go, There You Are
Robert Schwartzman:
I remember we were playing Austin, and I said, "It’s so awesome to be in Austin for the first time." The band was like, "Dude, we’ve played here before." On the mic. Like, "Robert we’ve played here." And I was like, "No we haven’t." Then some fans were like, "Yes. You have."

Pink Hearts, Yellow Moons, Orange Stars…
RS: On this tour, more than ever, we’ve become cereal junkies. I think Lucky Charms has taken over our bus. We all eat Lucky Charms. The sweet stuff.

NB: One day we’ll get a weird health cereal, then get the craziest sugar cereal. Like Double Chocolate Cookie Crisp. [It's] literally cookies in milk. Not a way to start the day. It makes you feel awesome for about five minutes.

Northern England Can Be Hazardous To Your Health
NB:
I walked into a really dangerous part of northern England and got punched in the face really hard. My error was asking the drunkest, most dangerous-looking guy for directions. He was like, "Yeah, I’ll take you there." He took me in an alley and just cranked me in the face. I managed to run like hell. I came back to the tour bus and I was like, "You’re never going to believe what happened to me!" Everyone looked at me like, "Wow, you got punched in the face really hard." I looked in the mirror and there was a [fist] mark.
