And Ambre takes it! Below, she tells us what’s going on with her relationship with Bret: “I’m dating Bret. I’m not disillusioned. I don’t think we’re going to run off and get married.” Also discussed: her background in acting, going panty-free and her near-elimination on the first episode. Get ready to feel what it’s like to be Bret’s rock of love:
How has it been spending five months away from Bret? Do feelings change?
Absolutely not. We talked about that at great length. He told me, “Listen, we can’t see each other. I’m not even supposed to call you. You need to know what you’re up against.” I told him that I knew what I signed up for. I’m a strong, confident woman. I’m not needy. Was it hard? Of course. But I feel like it was well worth it.
So you’re every bit as in love with Bret as you were in Cancun?
Absolutely.
Did you speak with him during the time between the filming and the reunion?
He got in touch with me several times, and we saw each other. We spent time together and we talked about it, but it was good. I needed to see him. It was nice.
Where are you in your relationship now?
I’m dating Bret. I’m not disillusioned. I don’t think we’re going to run off and get married. We’re dating and we’re going to see how this dating process holds, because we were in Cancun, we were on these challenges, I was fighting for love. Now it’s time to see how this works in the real world.
As practical as that sounds, is that satisfying for you?
It is. I’m in the entertainment industry, and it’s hard to date someone who isn’t. I’m always on set. I’m never home. When I’m on set, I can’t answer the phone. Bret has a similar lifestyle. He’s always on the road. It’s hard to get in touch with him. So he gets it and it’s really refreshing to date someone who understands my life.
Do you have any plans for making it work, or are you just playing it by ear?
I’ve always played it by ear and things are so natural, we have such great chemistry and a great friendship that we’re just going to see what happens. I didn’t plan for this and neither did he. So why mess with things now and start planning things? I think we should just go and see what happens. And I’m excited about that.
You’re optimistic.
Of course! If I didn’t think there was going to be some future or some chance for us, I wouldn’t have fought as hard. I wouldn’t have tried this experience in the first place. We found a great connection. We understand each other, which is very refreshing.
And the fact that Bret’s surrounded by women, especially on tour, doesn’t make you worry?
We’re both in the industry and I understand that his work is a little bit more hardcore than mine. But I’m a confident woman. If I have a great relationship and there’s communication, I trust people until there’s a reason not to. I don’t really focus on things like that. In the house, it wasn’t about competing or being jealous for me. It was about Bret finding the one for him. We were all so different, how could I compare myself to them?
You were almost eliminated on the first night.
Crazy! It blows my mind. When that happened, I was like, “I’m going next week.” And then we started making this connection and it started to grow. You don’t look back after that.
What kind of terms are you on with Daisy?
After the reunion [taped a few weeks ago], we talked. A situation like a reality show is out-of-the-ordinary. It got bad in Cancun. She was hurt, I was hurt. We talked about it and I think we’re moving past it.
Having acted and hosted shows, this exposure must feel really good.
I’ve been acting for years now and I’ve never experienced this side of it. It just blows my mind how reality TV can expose you so quickly.
I read an interview in which you talked about weighing out the pros and cons of entering the reality TV fold with your agent. Where are you with that now? Was doing Rock of Love a good career move?
It was a big risk to do this and it was something that I thought about, but I went on the show with an open heart, because I feel like the bigger the risk, the bigger the reward. From this, yes, there’s been a big reward. But will I be stigmatized to one genre? I don’t think so, because I stayed true to myself on the show. I think I’ll be able to move forward in my career, but we’ll see what happens.
Because you have a showbiz background, the cynic’s reading of your involvement with the show is that you did it all for exposure. What do you have to say about that criticism?
I’ve only heard that a few times, and I think the reason that it’s been so infrequent is that I have remained true to myself. I didn’t become this rocker character. I didn’t form a character for the show at all. I went on as me, I went to try to find love for me and see if it works out for me and I think that comes across on TV.
It’s interesting when you talk about staying true to yourself because people thought that your no-panties date with Bret was out of character.
The thing is, when you’re dating someone, because I was dating Bret…I said things at that dinner table that you would say to your significant other that you wouldn’t necessarily say for the whole world. At that moment, I just forgot the cameras were there because I was just there with Bret.
I know that you posted a blog about being accused of lying about your age, and I wonder if you want to say anything else about it?
There’s editing involved in the show. I just don’t want people to think that I’m a liar because I’m not.
Are you still hosting?
I’ve moved onto other gigs. I just signed a letter of intent to host another TV show that’s going to air nationwide. But I’ll still do commercials and film and TV and that kind of thing.
Your father said in his exit interview, “No father wants their daughter to end up with Bret,” and you did. Is he disappointed at the show’s outcome?
No. My dad had the best intentions with that line. He meant that he doesn’t think anyone’s good enough for his daughter, but he thinks Bret’s a great guy. If that’s who I’m in love with, he supports it.
There’s a very palpable power dynamic on the show: Bret is flanked by women telling him that they’re in love with him, but he’s generally tight-lipped. Do you find him to be emotionally closed-off? Has he told you that he loves you?
He’s not emotionally closed off. What he says to me, he doesn’t say in front of the cameras. He couldn’t in that situation. You just can’t. But when the cameras aren’t there, we do talk. The things we talk about help me stay strong throughout the time that we weren’t able to see each other. They’re the things that I cherish.

I can’t imagine how you handled the exposure and the full “out there” nakedness of the show. It seems quite unlike reality, but I guess that is rock and roll lifestyles for you! Good for you Ambre! Just stay true to your self and see where it takes you. Loved watching the show and give you lots of credit for putting up with those other “women”.

I was so happy to see that Brett picked Ambre. I was jumping up and down and screaming. He chose who I wanted him to both seasons, maybe that means I know him really well.LOL. I have been a fan of his since Poison came out and have been to concerts but could never afford a front row or close to front row seat. If me and my 16 year who is a very big fan also could meet him just one we would be so so happy. Not to mention I live near his hometown. He is from Pittsburgh I am from New `%# berland Wv.

from day 1 i have been following this show and i have always thought u would be perfect for brett….as i was watching every week, i can see how much u have grown and show how u feel for brett with the other girls in the house….every week i pray that he would pick you and every week u got stronger to stand up for what u believe in….when it got down to you and daisy, i was very nervous about that…and when he said you are my rock of love i actually cried for excitement for you and brett….i can see in both your eyes how u feel for eachother….and i read the story and my instincts were right…..ambre, i am so happy for you and brett and i hope that you two have the longest rock of lover ever…..and believe me i will be keeping tabs on it….i love you both…..

I think that this is a bunch of s**t. Amber is a T.V host and this experience for her gave her that fame that she wanted. I feel that she may have not been the best pick for him and they most likely wont last. He should have kept Heather but if he feels that she wasnt right, then Daisy would have been a much better choice because they have so much in common. I was not pleased with Amber she was fake through the whole filming process. Did anyone see how she got all worked up and sweaty over playing a film director. She must have had the thought that, that was going to bring her that credit to get the job of filming. She was more excited for the enventure than to be with Bret. As with Daisy she was like ” Yeah, I’m going to get to be with Bret,” but I guess Bret didnt see through the fake b**ch. She event said in many of her interviews that she is a good actor, well i would say. You cant tell how she got that rush when she found that she won. I hope that he comes to his senses and ask Heather to give him a try and maybe he should apologize for leading Daisy on, which left her heart broken.

Brett picked the wrong person. Ambre is out for her own career. Social climber and easy. She is a glory hound and you could tell by her facial expressions throughout the showthat she is an actress. Please, and she knows how to play people bringing out their bad making her look good. Brett should have let her go in the beginning. Her career is peaking, she connived her way to the top, she is a tattletale coniving worming person. She also obviously is very very easy as the whole world got to see how trampy she was at the table and in his room. What is between 2 people is between them. I would be ashamed if she was my daughter, how embarrassed her father must be of her, how humiliating to her family for the world to see what an easy woman she really is. Hot tempered too, Brett needs to get us mothers involved, we will pick out a good woman for him. How someone that seems to be so kind and caring, meaning Brett could not see through her is beyond me.

Hi Rock of Love 2 fans - Here’s a good one for you: Kristy Joe might have left the show, but she has been spotted in Scottsdale in the last month sporting some heavy bling that is supposedly courtesy of the new man in her life. Saying that even though she had to keep it on the downlow, that *new man* was none other than Bret Michaels. Apparently, she’s had to keep it a big secret…But not that big of a secret since she was willing to tell this info to complete strangers at a Scottsdale nail salon.

Amber did’nt win she lost.Bret chose her because Jess from last season made him look like a XXX,the XXX that he is.So he went safe, not picking the young girl that we all know he likes.He don’t want anybody his age.Amber don’t party,she never drank she just held the glass.Then Bret told her that he think that his life style would break them up.He want young pretty party girls,none of which is Amber.Hey Bret find a ex on this person,oh I forgot nobody wanted to come out for her,WHY? WHY? you ask because they are probably all old and married!! Think about it.He wanted Daisy and he got Daisy,think about that Amber next time he is on you.

Ambre congrats girl!!!!! you seem like a wonderful match for Bret.Because to me Daisy and Kristy Joe have too much going on.Bret already has too much going on career wise and doesn’t need anymore crasy stuff in his personal life.so I’m sure its refreshing to him to have a girlfriend who isn’t wild and crazy.

I can’t believe so many people are against Ambre!! I think Ambre was by far the best choice for Brett - she is older (are you people forgetting how OLD Brett is?!?!?!) & stable, emotionally & financially. I think her being in the entertainment industry & not the ADULT entertainment industry is a good thing because they would know what to expect. Daisy was beyond unstable, living with an ex boyfriend & a total disaster. How do you go into debt after a boob job being a stripper?!?? That should make you more money!! That girl needs to get her life in order & why should Brett at this stage in his life have to deal with that?? Who would want to deal with that at any stage??? I think the fact that Ambre holds her own & isn’t so needy is how a real woman should be. You can be confident, supportive & totally in love with someone & not have to spend every waking second catering to them or give up your life to follow them around the country.

I’m glad that Bret picks Ambre because she’s honest, she’s cute in an older age, and they both made a great connection. Last season on Rock of Love, Bret picks Jes, but it didn’t work out on the reunion show. I hope that Bret and Ambre hang out more forever. However, I’m can’t the reunion show this Sunday, because I’m going to Vegas. Good Luck Ambre.

I am a little dissapointed that Bret picked Ambre. I liked her in the beginning but I never thought she was right for Bret. (I now feel she did use the show for publicity she is an actress) Daisy has the looks for the rocken roll lifestyle. and I think she did really love Bret I felt bad when everyone attacked Daisy in Las Vegas, Heather started all that %&%$ I wonder if he would have picked Ambre if KristyJoe was there. I don’t think so. I am ready for another Rock of love 3.

I don’t get it. You all girls think that Ambre is the right one for Bret, but you are all wrong…………Ambre cares more about her age and her career and nothing more. She will never prove her self that she was on the house looking for love because she is lying. She told Bret that she was 32 , why? becasue she knows that bret likes young girls. The only think i know is if she cares so much about her career as a tv host then she should of never stayed at the house.
