The Celebreality Interview - Ambre
And Ambre takes it! Below, she tells us what’s going on with her relationship with Bret: “I’m dating Bret. I’m not disillusioned. I don’t think we’re going to run off and get married.” Also discussed: her background in acting, going panty-free and her near-elimination on the first episode. Get ready to feel what it’s like to be Bret’s rock of love:
How has it been spending five months away from Bret? Do feelings change?
Absolutely not. We talked about that at great length. He told me, “Listen, we can’t see each other. I’m not even supposed to call you. You need to know what you’re up against.” I told him that I knew what I signed up for. I’m a strong, confident woman. I’m not needy. Was it hard? Of course. But I feel like it was well worth it.
So you’re every bit as in love with Bret as you were in Cancun?
Absolutely.
Did you speak with him during the time between the filming and the reunion?
He got in touch with me several times, and we saw each other. We spent time together and we talked about it, but it was good. I needed to see him. It was nice.
Where are you in your relationship now?
I’m dating Bret. I’m not disillusioned. I don’t think we’re going to run off and get married. We’re dating and we’re going to see how this dating process holds, because we were in Cancun, we were on these challenges, I was fighting for love. Now it’s time to see how this works in the real world.
As practical as that sounds, is that satisfying for you?
It is. I’m in the entertainment industry, and it’s hard to date someone who isn’t. I’m always on set. I’m never home. When I’m on set, I can’t answer the phone. Bret has a similar lifestyle. He’s always on the road. It’s hard to get in touch with him. So he gets it and it’s really refreshing to date someone who understands my life.
Do you have any plans for making it work, or are you just playing it by ear?
I’ve always played it by ear and things are so natural, we have such great chemistry and a great friendship that we’re just going to see what happens. I didn’t plan for this and neither did he. So why mess with things now and start planning things? I think we should just go and see what happens. And I’m excited about that.
You’re optimistic.
Of course! If I didn’t think there was going to be some future or some chance for us, I wouldn’t have fought as hard. I wouldn’t have tried this experience in the first place. We found a great connection. We understand each other, which is very refreshing.
And the fact that Bret’s surrounded by women, especially on tour, doesn’t make you worry?
We’re both in the industry and I understand that his work is a little bit more hardcore than mine. But I’m a confident woman. If I have a great relationship and there’s communication, I trust people until there’s a reason not to. I don’t really focus on things like that. In the house, it wasn’t about competing or being jealous for me. It was about Bret finding the one for him. We were all so different, how could I compare myself to them?
You were almost eliminated on the first night.
Crazy! It blows my mind. When that happened, I was like, “I’m going next week.” And then we started making this connection and it started to grow. You don’t look back after that.
What kind of terms are you on with Daisy?
After the reunion [taped a few weeks ago], we talked. A situation like a reality show is out-of-the-ordinary. It got bad in Cancun. She was hurt, I was hurt. We talked about it and I think we’re moving past it.
Having acted and hosted shows, this exposure must feel really good.
I’ve been acting for years now and I’ve never experienced this side of it. It just blows my mind how reality TV can expose you so quickly.
I read an interview in which you talked about weighing out the pros and cons of entering the reality TV fold with your agent. Where are you with that now? Was doing Rock of Love a good career move?
It was a big risk to do this and it was something that I thought about, but I went on the show with an open heart, because I feel like the bigger the risk, the bigger the reward. From this, yes, there’s been a big reward. But will I be stigmatized to one genre? I don’t think so, because I stayed true to myself on the show. I think I’ll be able to move forward in my career, but we’ll see what happens.
Because you have a showbiz background, the cynic’s reading of your involvement with the show is that you did it all for exposure. What do you have to say about that criticism?
I’ve only heard that a few times, and I think the reason that it’s been so infrequent is that I have remained true to myself. I didn’t become this rocker character. I didn’t form a character for the show at all. I went on as me, I went to try to find love for me and see if it works out for me and I think that comes across on TV.
It’s interesting when you talk about staying true to yourself because people thought that your no-panties date with Bret was out of character.
The thing is, when you’re dating someone, because I was dating Bret…I said things at that dinner table that you would say to your significant other that you wouldn’t necessarily say for the whole world. At that moment, I just forgot the cameras were there because I was just there with Bret.
I know that you posted a blog about being accused of lying about your age, and I wonder if you want to say anything else about it?
There’s editing involved in the show. I just don’t want people to think that I’m a liar because I’m not.
Are you still hosting?
I’ve moved onto other gigs. I just signed a letter of intent to host another TV show that’s going to air nationwide. But I’ll still do commercials and film and TV and that kind of thing.
Your father said in his exit interview, “No father wants their daughter to end up with Bret,” and you did. Is he disappointed at the show’s outcome?
No. My dad had the best intentions with that line. He meant that he doesn’t think anyone’s good enough for his daughter, but he thinks Bret’s a great guy. If that’s who I’m in love with, he supports it.
There’s a very palpable power dynamic on the show: Bret is flanked by women telling him that they’re in love with him, but he’s generally tight-lipped. Do you find him to be emotionally closed-off? Has he told you that he loves you?
He’s not emotionally closed off. What he says to me, he doesn’t say in front of the cameras. He couldn’t in that situation. You just can’t. But when the cameras aren’t there, we do talk. The things we talk about help me stay strong throughout the time that we weren’t able to see each other. They’re the things that I cherish.

i think daisy was the better choice. i thought is was sad that all the girls were trashing her near the end. i do believe ambre is a bit more educated, but she became a bit ruthless and catty in the last few shows. it surprises me that brett could not handle daisy’s background, he’s hooking up with all those girls on the show and he can’t handle that daisy is close to one guy. i hope daisy finds a great guy one day.

I want to know if one of the requirements to be on Rock of Love is to have a current aids test…I also think Amber is a wolf in sheeps clothing…hopefully she will also be smart enough to make Bret get an aids test every time he comes home from being on the road…no doubt the dirty old man that he is will do the nasty with every pretty young thing that will let him have his way…Bret , please warn your own daughters of men like yourself! Thumbs up to the person that wrote Bret chose Amber because she was safe and he was not in danger of being made a fool of like last season when he chose Jess. Choosing Amber was also safe since she has a job that keeps her well occupied…Bret is in no danger of Amber trying to follow him on the road interfering with his womanizing old man ways. Was a fan of Bret when he picked Jess…not a fan anymore.

Did anybody else notice that Bret rarely ever talked about Daisy’s personality? He just kept saying how hot she was and Bret said multiple times he was not looking for Rock of Lust. So I’m very glad he chose Ambre, someone who was actually more than just a pretty face and seemed to truly be in love with him.

wow - i can’t believe i wasted my time on a reality show! Like the others there is many seasons & this is sure to have season 3 with choosing Ambre - she is fake - a lier - is old trying to act like a young rock star! she looks more like his older sister And did this for her career - she didn’t enter it going OMG I want Bret - she first wanted to make sure how this was going to affect her career! hello! watch her fake facial expressions - bad acting. If bret is not able to watch these daily tapes to see how these girls are behind the scene before picking - then he should.
I feel daisy may have some baggage but who doesn’t & she never lied about it when asked. ambre lied to protect her career. If bret watched the tapes he could see that daisy was truly there for him & fit the rock star world and had nothing to stop her from being with bret and they could of grown together in a world they are familar with with no ties to stop them.
why put 20 year olds on the show if your going to call them immature? In your 20’s your young - crazy and looking for love and the only one nearly 40 years old was more like a den mother and boring. just couldn’t watch someone claiming to be so smart acting so stupid - your nearly 40 and your cutting your shirts in 1/2 - trying to dress sexy - using the word DUDE & all could see that this just wasn’t you & wasn’t your normal everyday lifestyle or else you would of come into the house with short shirts bought to fit that way & not panicly cutting up your clothes once you saw you had young - cute and sexy competition & you could care less about abbs until bret said something about them - i think ambre hurt her career more than she boosted it.
As for the show in general - another one with girls putting their hearts on the line and set up to do and parade around in sexy outfits for male entertainment. there was the wet and muddy competion - the one where you had to put on a sexy show behind a curtain ( like a sex shop would have ) - then to insult the 2 girls on how they were deciding who will sleep with bret first ? you think rock paper scissors was any better way of deciding - no! what did these competions have to do with love & finding more out about the girls & why would you give out a “pass to intrupt my get to know you date” & then get mad at the girls for interupting you - it’s all about drama - drama and more drama!
then in some scenes when the girls are upset and crying you get - great - i would rather be watching football orJohn take over and ya trying to help here but can’t focus without staring at your boobs! maybe have reality tv where everyone can see the daily tapes on both sides and be able to hear the comments and see that he’s sleeping with all the girls, leading them on & hear the comments of how un-interested his is about their heartfelt pains of living in that cat fight of a house.
Why does the show allow these girls to be mean & throw things at each other and that blonde brought in to help bret pick - stupid move - but thats my opinion
Maybe if the girls saw the tapes and comments they would walk off the show once they saw how they were being used.
then the ending - both girls get the same gift & who loves it enough to wear it to elimination - daisy wore it. then daisy said if she lost she would be heartbroken - ambre says in a non emotional face she will be upset? I think bret was having sex with daisy from the get go which led her to believe there was something there - and then sleeping with both the girls after their dates at the end - if thats not using the girls i don’t know what is. he cries when destiney leaves, simply tells daisy the tour ends here and then asks ambre to go have sex? was the show about love or sexy girls and sex? maybe bret should try and patch things up with the mother of his children and all lead a family life when he is not performing. performing is a job - im not exempt from knowing how a famous rockstar lives a personal life since i know one. anyway - i think daisy was the only one in love with bret and there soley for him and for no other reason - not to mention the extra benefits of cute - having tatoos, knowledge of music and rock star lifestyle. she fit the tab in every way in my opinion & he should be calling her up. the takes for the reunion show daisy getting beat up on again - poor girl - if you don’t like her than let it go but dont be mean to her or anyone else cuz of it. then johns facial expression is oh yeah - very rude! daisy may be heartbroken now but after watching the show think she would of had constant heartbreak because i didn’t see bret act like he was ready to settle down with love. it looked like he was loving & promoting all these girls to be sexy - to put on shows for him and used all of them by sleeping with them. i think before these shows even start their contracts have you pre-signed up to do many shows anyway so that is why i think there will be a #3 and #4 and maybe #5! If your there for love and not fame then do the selection privately - no one said you have to put it on national tv to sift thru your 20 girls!
him picking ambre makes no sense - she is old - looks goofy trying to dress and act like a rockstar - was a lier. maybe it was preset up for him to pick her before the show even started cuz i can’t see why else he would of choose someone so opposite of him & one with no look or education in the music field. i think she loved the money and things bret could offer her and thats why she fought so hard - too bad for bret - when does #3 start! i think the blonde girl brought in to help him is the one that influenced him to pick ambre - my take was she had competion if anyone other than ambre was choosen - i think she wanted bret and pushed him towards ambre for her own benefits. should of been daisy if the show was about love and compatibility!

Daisy was nothing more than a tramp who lived with her ex boyfriend Believe me Brett didn’t need that seriously Daisy had a ton of issues too. Ambre had it together career, college education ,a father that actually showed up to the show. Ambre you are pretty, real and stable. Brett doesn’t need bs anymore he is getting older so his tastes will change over time. Last night made me sooo happy. I can’t wait to see the reunion next sunday.

I am VERY glad Bret chose Ambre! Daisy definately had a smokin’ body but she came off like a dumb bimbo. I’m not so sure there are any brains up in that head of hers. She spoke like an idiot and her hand gestures drove me freakin’ nuts!!! She can’t sing for (_^~ either!
So Ambre lied to the girls about her age, big f@*kin’ whoop! Daisy conveniently “forgot” to tell Bret about living with her ex boyfriend and that CeeCee Devil used to be after her +(( I think that would be more of a problem and a bit less forgivable.
Ambre is beautiful, sexy, funny, smart, confident, etc, etc, etc… I think she will be able to handle Bret’s lifestyle better than Daisy. I believe Daisy would have ended up being more insecure with Bret on the road all the time. If Bret was looking for someone who was the total package, Ambre is it. Besides, could you imagine having Daisy as your stepmom???!!!

I am sooo glad he ended up with Amber. I wish them the best. I was pretty sure it would be jessica or amber. The other girls seemed to be all show, but amber is the REAL DEAL!! Good going Bret!!

Stoked that Bret became a man a chose the right woman for himself… not just another skank. He can get plenty of those, but Ambre’s are rare… he did the right thing. I hope he and Ambre are very happy together. I mean, please, would Bret actually introduce HALF of the women that were on the show to his children? Paaaleease. Ambre will take this all like a pro. Bret you are a celebrity from Pennsylvania, you should say something to Obama for looking his nose down on the people in PA because he said:

Bret choosing Ambre makes me think that he is finally ‘growing up’. Someone closer to his own age is a more realistic chance at finding love. I liked Daisy but lets face it, she was an immature mess. Ambre, being older & wiser will know what it takes to please Bret enough that he won’t want any more of the young Daisy’s out there. You go Ambre!!!!!!

OMG!!!! Can’t wait for ROCK OF LOVE 3!!! AMBRE??? She is awful for talking down to Daisy! She made negative comments about Daisy’s career of being a stripper. GOOD FOR DAISY!!! I’m a Doc (female) and would NEVER belittle someone for their career choice! Hey…SHE’S WORKING…I give her a lot of credit!!! Daisy is a trooper, a survivor…she is beautiful and funny! Ambre kept talking about her “entertainment career”, T.V. etc…Who on earth is she anyway????? Daisy is REAL!!! Just a cutie pie for sure!!! I hope only good things come her way!!!!
