The Celebreality Interview - Ambre

ambre-interview.jpg

And Ambre takes it! Below, she tells us what’s going on with her relationship with Bret: “I’m dating Bret. I’m not disillusioned. I don’t think we’re going to run off and get married.” Also discussed: her background in acting, going panty-free and her near-elimination on the first episode. Get ready to feel what it’s like to be Bret’s rock of love:

How has it been spending five months away from Bret? Do feelings change?

Absolutely not. We talked about that at great length. He told me, “Listen, we can’t see each other. I’m not even supposed to call you. You need to know what you’re up against.” I told him that I knew what I signed up for. I’m a strong, confident woman. I’m not needy. Was it hard? Of course. But I feel like it was well worth it.

So you’re every bit as in love with Bret as you were in Cancun?

Absolutely.

Did you speak with him during the time between the filming and the reunion?

He got in touch with me several times, and we saw each other. We spent time together and we talked about it, but it was good. I needed to see him. It was nice.

Where are you in your relationship now?

I’m dating Bret. I’m not disillusioned. I don’t think we’re going to run off and get married. We’re dating and we’re going to see how this dating process holds, because we were in Cancun, we were on these challenges, I was fighting for love. Now it’s time to see how this works in the real world.

As practical as that sounds, is that satisfying for you?

It is. I’m in the entertainment industry, and it’s hard to date someone who isn’t. I’m always on set. I’m never home. When I’m on set, I can’t answer the phone. Bret has a similar lifestyle. He’s always on the road. It’s hard to get in touch with him. So he gets it and it’s really refreshing to date someone who understands my life.

Do you have any plans for making it work, or are you just playing it by ear?

I’ve always played it by ear and things are so natural, we have such great chemistry and a great friendship that we’re just going to see what happens. I didn’t plan for this and neither did he. So why mess with things now and start planning things? I think we should just go and see what happens. And I’m excited about that.

You’re optimistic.

Of course! If I didn’t think there was going to be some future or some chance for us, I wouldn’t have fought as hard. I wouldn’t have tried this experience in the first place. We found a great connection. We understand each other, which is very refreshing.

And the fact that Bret’s surrounded by women, especially on tour, doesn’t make you worry?

We’re both in the industry and I understand that his work is a little bit more hardcore than mine. But I’m a confident woman. If I have a great relationship and there’s communication, I trust people until there’s a reason not to. I don’t really focus on things like that. In the house, it wasn’t about competing or being jealous for me. It was about Bret finding the one for him. We were all so different, how could I compare myself to them?

You were almost eliminated on the first night.

Crazy! It blows my mind. When that happened, I was like, “I’m going next week.” And then we started making this connection and it started to grow. You don’t look back after that.

What kind of terms are you on with Daisy?

After the reunion [taped a few weeks ago], we talked. A situation like a reality show is out-of-the-ordinary. It got bad in Cancun. She was hurt, I was hurt. We talked about it and I think we’re moving past it.

Having acted and hosted shows, this exposure must feel really good.

I’ve been acting for years now and I’ve never experienced this side of it. It just blows my mind how reality TV can expose you so quickly.

I read an interview in which you talked about weighing out the pros and cons of entering the reality TV fold with your agent. Where are you with that now? Was doing Rock of Love a good career move?

It was a big risk to do this and it was something that I thought about, but I went on the show with an open heart, because I feel like the bigger the risk, the bigger the reward. From this, yes, there’s been a big reward. But will I be stigmatized to one genre? I don’t think so, because I stayed true to myself on the show. I think I’ll be able to move forward in my career, but we’ll see what happens.

Because you have a showbiz background, the cynic’s reading of your involvement with the show is that you did it all for exposure. What do you have to say about that criticism?

I’ve only heard that a few times, and I think the reason that it’s been so infrequent is that I have remained true to myself. I didn’t become this rocker character. I didn’t form a character for the show at all. I went on as me, I went to try to find love for me and see if it works out for me and I think that comes across on TV.

It’s interesting when you talk about staying true to yourself because people thought that your no-panties date with Bret was out of character.

The thing is, when you’re dating someone, because I was dating Bret…I said things at that dinner table that you would say to your significant other that you wouldn’t necessarily say for the whole world. At that moment, I just forgot the cameras were there because I was just there with Bret.

I know that you posted a blog about being accused of lying about your age, and I wonder if you want to say anything else about it?

There’s editing involved in the show. I just don’t want people to think that I’m a liar because I’m not.

Are you still hosting?

I’ve moved onto other gigs. I just signed a letter of intent to host another TV show that’s going to air nationwide. But I’ll still do commercials and film and TV and that kind of thing.

Your father said in his exit interview, “No father wants their daughter to end up with Bret,” and you did. Is he disappointed at the show’s outcome?

No. My dad had the best intentions with that line. He meant that he doesn’t think anyone’s good enough for his daughter, but he thinks Bret’s a great guy. If that’s who I’m in love with, he supports it.

There’s a very palpable power dynamic on the show: Bret is flanked by women telling him that they’re in love with him, but he’s generally tight-lipped. Do you find him to be emotionally closed-off? Has he told you that he loves you?

He’s not emotionally closed off. What he says to me, he doesn’t say in front of the cameras. He couldn’t in that situation. You just can’t. But when the cameras aren’t there, we do talk. The things we talk about help me stay strong throughout the time that we weren’t able to see each other. They’re the things that I cherish.

Of course, this isn’t the end of the story for Bret and Ambre. Find out what’s next for them and their saga when the Rock of Love 2 reunion airs Sunday, April 20 at 9/8c. And keep up with Ambre via her personal site, her MySpace and her FamousVH1Friends.com profile.

  1. rockinmom Says:

Please, get over yourselves. Ambre, good luck! My 14 year-old son and I watched the show both last season and this season. We are a rock n roll family. I found it quite interesting that my son, whose hormones are raging - picked Ambre. I asked him why and he replied that she was smart, pretty and had some class. He said she was the most normal. Well said and I agree. He did say the other girls were all pretty, but kinda sleezy and many had “issues”. We all have to remember that this is a TV show - was it real - we will never know who was lying or who was being themselves. All I do know is what I saw on the screen and Ambre was a class act. You go girl. Brett has dated and known girls like the others on the show for years - and where did that leave him? Single. Go for the class act and intelligence - that is lasting.

A word to younger women - outer beauty fades over time - there is no fountain of youth! Breasts will sag, lines will appear and age will come. Common sense, class and intelligence - only gets better over time.

  2. Maxine Says:

I think Ambre was only on the show just to when and also for exposure because she is an actress ans most for all a TV host. I don’t think Amber and Bret will stay to together because of Bret lifestyle. Bret is 44 and still goes on the road and does shows and personally i don’t think Ambre will want to put up with that for a while.

  3. angel washington Says:

you big dummie you shoulda picked daisy. ambre is so ugly and she lied about her age. you know daisy didn’t sleep with her x- boyfriend,k but you picked ambre and way!!!!!!! you just lost a a person that watchers your show.

  4. sharae Says:

let me ask you ~`_%( es how old you will feel at 37? bret is 44, don’t know why everyone thinks she so old, Devine is totally right. ya’ll must be some really immature people if you have to say that kinda crap about her you-know-what! grow-up, and when your 37 i’m pretty sure you would like to punch someone in the face if they were saying @_!! like that about you, why you guys so rude?

  5. Pixie Says:

    AMEN DEVINE

  6. Devine Says:

Who cares who Bret picked guys..as long as he is happy and they are happy being together..it is just a SHOW….and if it did not have so many viewers there would have been no ROCK of LOVE 2 so get over it..if you are going to get so upset over it then u have some serious issues in your own life going on..shows are out there for entertainment to enjoy..if you don’t like then don’t watch

  7. Katie Says:

Actually MIMI I live in a house you can ONLY dream of having. No white picketed fence darling, you dont put that kind of a fence around my home. That fence love is WAY WAY WAY TOO SMALL. I spotted you didnt I ? BIG PHONY

  8. Devon Says:

I did notice Bret had some white pubies stuck to his face after the interlude with Amber.

  9. MIMI Says:

Katie you can kiss my royal a–, you must live in a house with white picket fence, you couldn’t spot a phony if one landed on your head.

  10. MIMI Says:

Ambre, I hope you clipped your gray hairs off your snatch before you gave Bret a peak.

  11. Katie Says:

    MIMI your an idiot.

  12. Kaylen Says:

Who cares about age, or how a person looks, Ambre came across as the real thing so what if she lied about her age..it’s just a show and besides at least she wasn’t acting over the top like Daisy did & Christy Jo did..Daisy was pretty in her way and Ambre was just as pretty. Daisy just felt she had to hide underneath her real self and dosn’t know yet how to be sexy and classy w/out having plastic surgery and all that makeup on, she still has alot of growing up to do..honestly it does not matter how you look or what kind of look you are trying to portray..it is what you have to offer and how real your heart is and how mature you are. If you come across as being fake then you probaly are..unfortunatly Daisy came across as being very imature and totally clueless every time Bret tried to have a real conversation w/her..hopefully it was all just for the show and that she is really not like that..anyway it was fun to watch otherwise why would we the public kept on watching

  13. Marilyn Says:

I am so glad that Bret chose Amber. She is certainly intelligent and the best choice for him as I predicted. Could you imagine what the interview would have sounded like if he had chosen Daisy. Duh!!!! Sorry, but I was rooting for Amber from the beginning. I agree with Sexy Di. Anyway Good Luck Amber and Bret. I pray there is not a Rock of Love 3. I hope you have found your true Rock of Love, Bret!!! You are fantastic, Amber!!

  14. holla back Says:

wow. you guys can honestly sit here and think that ambre is a “class act??!!” were you watching the same show that i was watching. she was manipulative and threw temper tantrums about “people infringing on my time with bret.” did anyone think she was going to win? did you think that if kristy jo stayed that ambre still would have been there? do you think that he was honestly going to choose ambre over destiney before they brought her out? no. obviously he knew %_`^ was going down. how many times in this season has %_`^ changed at elimination. i mean, come on, he didn’t even hand out passes. if a girl has to show her TWAT at dinner to get a guy to notice her or think she’s sexy, then she is the truly desperate. and lets face it, if you’re a woman who is 37 and not married, there’s something wrong with you. and lets not mention her pathetic attempt at an acting career. and her joke of a degree from troy state university. obviously she was on the show to promote her career. obviously she’s ashamed of her old face and old age because she doesn’t write her real age anywhere. she either lies about it or doesn’t list it. and yes, she LIES about her age still. on her famousvh1friends page, it says she’s 33. a little insecure much?

and why are you so worried about the grammar of people writing on a vh1 blog, i mean we are talking about rock of love not imagery in shakespeare’s plays.

  15. MIMI Says:

YEA WHAT ROCK DID AMBRE CRAWL OUT FROM UNDER AND WHAT IS THE YEAR 19 B.C.

  16. Lynn Says:

Yes Daisy’s plastic surgery isn’t the greatest, she looks better w/out makeup but it doesn’t matter what she has had done or what she does for a living. What mattered is that she is so clueless & does not even act like she is 25..she needs to grow up, find herself, find some confidence in herself & she then will find her real man after she finds herself. It doesn’t matter what kind of skeletons you have in your closet just that you are able to crawl out & find yourself…Bret is human to and just b/c he is a rock star doesn’t mean he don’t deserve to find a real women like Ambre. We all deserve to find that someone who brings out the good in us. Maybe then the world would be a better place

  17. MIMI Says:

Ambre better known as Ombre, Get a face lift and do us all a favor, you are a sad representation of a human being, your about the fakiest, you are fakier than Daisy’s boobs. You are the most unattractive person I have ever seen. How did you get the job at the TV station by screwing the producer. The only way you could get a man is to show him what was between your legs, it sure as hell wasnt your what was above your shoulders. You are a coniving bit==.

  18. Lanna Says:

i wanna reply from wat terry said down there we are her to talk about rock of love )^`~ GRAMMAR

  19. rose thorn Says:

i’m glad ambre won but i still think she’s too classy for the rock star lifetsyle!
she needs to dump bret and throw him back into the sea full of daisys=groupie, skanky, fake boobs no-brainers!

  20. TheTruth2 Says:

I read and agreed with a great post about Daisy being a plastic surgery experiment. She looks horrible next to any of the normally beautiful people in Hollywood. Lets face it she looks like a stripper. What do you guys think that will look like in 20 years?? Ambre looked more like 32 or 33 than 37. Most online polls had Daisy rated somewhere around 6th or 7th as far as looks go for all the cast members.
Also something people never think about… Is the fact that successful people normally stay with successful people. Daisy is a long ways from being successful.

  21. TERRI Says:

AS HARD AS IT WAS JUST TO WATCH A SECOND ROCK OF LOVE, IT’S EVEN HARDER TO READ
ALOT OF THESE COMMENTS!!!! NO OFFENSE, BUT I FEEL LIKE I’M READING A BUNCH OF BAD
GRAMMAR WTITTEN BY CHILDREN PRETENDING TO BE ADULTS…UGH!!! SURELY MOST OF YOU
GRADUATED FROM HIGH SCHOOL AND REMEMBER HOW TO SPELL??? COME ON PEOPLE!!!
IF YOU’VE BEEN ON THIS PLANET LONG ENOUGH YOU KNOW THE BEST WAY TO BE TAKEN
SERIOUSLY IS TO SHOW YOUR INTELLIGENCE…SO MUCH FOR THE FACT THAT WE ALL WATCHED
THE FIRST AND SECOND ROCK OF LOVE!!!(LOL!!!)
FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO DON’T KNOW, THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH BEING OLDER AS LONG
AS WISDOM COMES WITH THE JOURNEY…NO MORE ROCK OF LOVE…BRET AND AMBRE HAVE
THEIR WORK CUT OUT FOR THEM JUST LIKE THE REST OF US, SO LET’S GET TO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  22. Leon12 Says:

“Ambre Flake” looks older than 37yrs. She is flaky and her name should be Ambre Flake

  23. lenoard Says:

Ambre thought she was better than the other girls, she was only older. She’s desperate to marry. None of her other ex’s wanted to marryher or appear on the show. What’s wrong with that picture?

  24. jonie Says:

Ambre, looks older than 37yrs old. Ambre controlled the other girls and snitched on them. She thought she because she had a part time (seasonal) job as a TV Host she was better than the other girls. I would never trust anyone who tried to control my environment.

  25. Serena Says:

I am glad Bret picked Ambre. She is closer to his age and maturity (and looks great for her age) Daisy is just too young and clueless for him.I hope it dose work out for them, they look great together.

  26. Nin Says:

Did anybody read what somebody (Daisy?) wrote in Wikipedia right after the show ended? it stayed there for about 20 minutes only. Tehn it was deleted but I saved it lol. Was great!

  27. sexy di Says:

I nearly had a nervous breakdown watching the finale. I kept thinking how can Bret not see that Ambre is the right one for him. During the show you could see that Ambre was the most honest, sincere and she had real love for Bret. Whenever they were together you could see and literally feel the chemistry, they looked so perfect together . I know it will not be easy because every relationship has its ups and downs but i am praying for you both. Just continue being true to each and let the lord be a part of your lives . Bret i think u have STRUCK GOLD or DIAMONDS!!!!!

  28. CINDY Says:

Ambre looks old as dirt, I don’t buy it at all. I will never watch another Rock of Love3 based on Bret is not looking for REAL LOVE and he proved it by choosing Ambre, who looks old enough to be his MOTHER.

  29. Lexus3 Says:

I am glad Bret picked Ambre they make a great couple I really did think he was going to pick
Daisy. Daisy has some issues. did you hear what he said when she was walking away blew me
away. she sd something about an ice cream cone. I hope the two will be happy.

  30. Angela Peterson Says:

    Ambre,
You are a true class act! The only reason I watched that show was because of you. You bring justice to classy girls. I wish you and Brett all the happiness in the world.
Please for the sake of reality television make this work!
    Angela
P.S. There is nothing wrong with picket fences, as long as they are around your relationship and then noone can touch you.
