And Ambre takes it! Below, she tells us what’s going on with her relationship with Bret: “I’m dating Bret. I’m not disillusioned. I don’t think we’re going to run off and get married.” Also discussed: her background in acting, going panty-free and her near-elimination on the first episode. Get ready to feel what it’s like to be Bret’s rock of love:
How has it been spending five months away from Bret? Do feelings change?
Absolutely not. We talked about that at great length. He told me, “Listen, we can’t see each other. I’m not even supposed to call you. You need to know what you’re up against.” I told him that I knew what I signed up for. I’m a strong, confident woman. I’m not needy. Was it hard? Of course. But I feel like it was well worth it.
So you’re every bit as in love with Bret as you were in Cancun?
Absolutely.
Did you speak with him during the time between the filming and the reunion?
He got in touch with me several times, and we saw each other. We spent time together and we talked about it, but it was good. I needed to see him. It was nice.
Where are you in your relationship now?
I’m dating Bret. I’m not disillusioned. I don’t think we’re going to run off and get married. We’re dating and we’re going to see how this dating process holds, because we were in Cancun, we were on these challenges, I was fighting for love. Now it’s time to see how this works in the real world.
As practical as that sounds, is that satisfying for you?
It is. I’m in the entertainment industry, and it’s hard to date someone who isn’t. I’m always on set. I’m never home. When I’m on set, I can’t answer the phone. Bret has a similar lifestyle. He’s always on the road. It’s hard to get in touch with him. So he gets it and it’s really refreshing to date someone who understands my life.
Do you have any plans for making it work, or are you just playing it by ear?
I’ve always played it by ear and things are so natural, we have such great chemistry and a great friendship that we’re just going to see what happens. I didn’t plan for this and neither did he. So why mess with things now and start planning things? I think we should just go and see what happens. And I’m excited about that.
You’re optimistic.
Of course! If I didn’t think there was going to be some future or some chance for us, I wouldn’t have fought as hard. I wouldn’t have tried this experience in the first place. We found a great connection. We understand each other, which is very refreshing.
And the fact that Bret’s surrounded by women, especially on tour, doesn’t make you worry?
We’re both in the industry and I understand that his work is a little bit more hardcore than mine. But I’m a confident woman. If I have a great relationship and there’s communication, I trust people until there’s a reason not to. I don’t really focus on things like that. In the house, it wasn’t about competing or being jealous for me. It was about Bret finding the one for him. We were all so different, how could I compare myself to them?
You were almost eliminated on the first night.
Crazy! It blows my mind. When that happened, I was like, “I’m going next week.” And then we started making this connection and it started to grow. You don’t look back after that.
What kind of terms are you on with Daisy?
After the reunion [taped a few weeks ago], we talked. A situation like a reality show is out-of-the-ordinary. It got bad in Cancun. She was hurt, I was hurt. We talked about it and I think we’re moving past it.
Having acted and hosted shows, this exposure must feel really good.
I’ve been acting for years now and I’ve never experienced this side of it. It just blows my mind how reality TV can expose you so quickly.
I read an interview in which you talked about weighing out the pros and cons of entering the reality TV fold with your agent. Where are you with that now? Was doing Rock of Love a good career move?
It was a big risk to do this and it was something that I thought about, but I went on the show with an open heart, because I feel like the bigger the risk, the bigger the reward. From this, yes, there’s been a big reward. But will I be stigmatized to one genre? I don’t think so, because I stayed true to myself on the show. I think I’ll be able to move forward in my career, but we’ll see what happens.
Because you have a showbiz background, the cynic’s reading of your involvement with the show is that you did it all for exposure. What do you have to say about that criticism?
I’ve only heard that a few times, and I think the reason that it’s been so infrequent is that I have remained true to myself. I didn’t become this rocker character. I didn’t form a character for the show at all. I went on as me, I went to try to find love for me and see if it works out for me and I think that comes across on TV.
It’s interesting when you talk about staying true to yourself because people thought that your no-panties date with Bret was out of character.
The thing is, when you’re dating someone, because I was dating Bret…I said things at that dinner table that you would say to your significant other that you wouldn’t necessarily say for the whole world. At that moment, I just forgot the cameras were there because I was just there with Bret.
I know that you posted a blog about being accused of lying about your age, and I wonder if you want to say anything else about it?
There’s editing involved in the show. I just don’t want people to think that I’m a liar because I’m not.
Are you still hosting?
I’ve moved onto other gigs. I just signed a letter of intent to host another TV show that’s going to air nationwide. But I’ll still do commercials and film and TV and that kind of thing.
Your father said in his exit interview, “No father wants their daughter to end up with Bret,” and you did. Is he disappointed at the show’s outcome?
No. My dad had the best intentions with that line. He meant that he doesn’t think anyone’s good enough for his daughter, but he thinks Bret’s a great guy. If that’s who I’m in love with, he supports it.
There’s a very palpable power dynamic on the show: Bret is flanked by women telling him that they’re in love with him, but he’s generally tight-lipped. Do you find him to be emotionally closed-off? Has he told you that he loves you?
He’s not emotionally closed off. What he says to me, he doesn’t say in front of the cameras. He couldn’t in that situation. You just can’t. But when the cameras aren’t there, we do talk. The things we talk about help me stay strong throughout the time that we weren’t able to see each other. They’re the things that I cherish.

I agree with most of the comments written below. Ambre was the right choice..coming from us huge Poison fans. I really hope this works out. I thought last season.. none of the girls were right. Nice girls should be in the spotlight too.. not fake, plastic.. psycho 20 year olds. Plus like the man said they are old souls from the 12th century! Good luck

THANK GOD, Bret picked Ambre! I kept telling everyone that he is not shallow just because he is a rock star and he proved it by picking Ambre. He could have gone for Rock of Lust and instead chose the one that had a brain AND beauty. Daisy was so immature…they would not have lasted very long anyway, and since the ratings are high…Ambre probably won’t last either…do I see a Rock of Love 3 in the future??? I would not mind because I think Bret is HOT and I like seeing him on tv every week…

Way to go Ambre!!!!! I had a good feeling that you were and are the one for Bret. I would’nt call me an expert on love, but I have been married for 12+ years. And being true to yourself can often be the hardest thing to do in a situation like yours. It can be very easy to get caught up in the celebrity statis of it all. I cant believe how people are putting amber down. she was the only non-manipulative, non back stabbing, non sneaky @(#`# onthe show. At least Bret could hold actual conversations with her unlike the 2nd grader Daisy. Daisy needs her sex appeal because she has the IQ of a turtle. Like, like, like, duhhhhh!! Amber gives woman a good name. She is smart, confidant, independant, strong and with all that, sexy too. Good job Brett! I hope Bret smartens up and settles down, the party is over Brett. Aw, a happy ending to one crazy roller coaster of a ride! Daisy isn’t for Bret, she is for everyone else though! I didn’t like her because she always seemed to be hiding something and she had more plastic parts than Barbie! Daisy has a lot of growing up to do, and at this stage in Bret’s life he really shouldn’t have to a babysitter, right? I’m sure she will be bringing her bag of drama to the happy reunion next week. I was pulling for Ambre because she is a smart woman, who has intelligent thoughts and can speak in full sentences. Bret made the best choice and has his Cinderella I wish them the best! I hope that it all works out for him and Ambre, because how embarrassing would it be to have to go through all of this a third time?

I am a Cincinnati girl ,29,who is married for 61/2 years and together 11 years. We have two wonderful kids and a cat. My husband,34, and I love the show. Love Ambre!!! My husband thinks she is so hot…..real hot (natural) so much better than a plastic. We hope all the best to you both. Ambre you are a stronger woman than I. There is no way I could share that long. I loved Bret’s band. My friends and I used to hang pitcures on the walls of our bedrooms.Take your time together and things will be great!!! We think so..

LOVE Ambre! She was funny and together and adorable she deserved Bret and he was good enough for her. I never did get what Bret was talking about when he spolke of how sexy Daisy was–that girl was one hot tranny mess–everything (lips and boobs) so…puffy–and I was alarmed every time she fell apart because I thought convulsions and seizures were about to ensue.
If it doesn’t work out with Ambre and Bret, I hope she and Jes get a show together because they were too cool and I always loved listening to what they had to say. It helps, too, that they seemed to be the only totally sane ones in the house each time.
It was good to see Heather again. the world needs more Heathers.

Well Bret, you have renewed my faith in the male species……………Good job! I was worried there at the end that the “other head” was making the decisions. I am so very glad that you picked the right WOMAN! Amber is intellegent, beautiful and self @#% ured. Daisy was so freakin needy and such a liar. I think it was somebody that called themselves “DUUHH” that said she never lied to Bret…………Whatever…………..If your not telling the whole story, its the same thing as lying. She acted like she was in front of the police. If he didnt ask, she didnt tell. I think everything about her was fake starting with her name. I even wonder if she was a real woman………It kind of looked like she was hiding a scar under her tatoo’s on her throat where her adams apple had been removed. Of coarse her boobs were fake, her lips were fake, even her eyelashes were fake. So all of you out there who thought she was the right choice need to have your head examined.

I am so glad he ened up with ambre. But then again after the show is taped are they still together or did he do the same thing like he did to jes. Jes got hurt and i dont want to see ambre get hurt cause she loves him so much and they make a cute dating couple. Daisy was just to young for him and she is way to emotional for Bret. So congrats Ambre and Bret and i hope it works out for you two forever. Can’t wait to see what happens on the reunion.

I hate bret’s decision, i am pissed!! no offense to ambre or anything but i just feel daisy was the better choice, she explained alot about her past, but i don’t think she needed to explain everything, that was in the past, thats why its called a past bret shouldn’t have kept dwelling on it, she told him she had an abortion, and she was open and honest with him about everything else, its not like she lied about living with her ex, she told you, ambre lied about her age, if she lies about something as simple as that what else is she going to lie about. whatever i guess we’ll be seeing a rock of love 3 so uhhh good luck with that.

i can’t believe u people seriously thinks he should’ve picked daisy. what kind of man wants all that baggage? i’m sure if he just wanted a quick f*ck he’d pick her, but he obviously wanted someone he could take seriously, and that girl was definitely not daisy. i mean, they were there for a couple weeks and they supposedly slept together?? i think that explains why he kept daisy to the end but didn’t pick her. men aren’t that stupid.. they’ll take the easy lay but when it’s time to pick one, they’re gonna pick the right girl. ambre’s not a liar, she just didn’t have any baggage, sure, she MAY have lied about her age, but she doesn’t have nearly as much baggage as daisy and i don’t think anyone would want to be with someone who’s as f*cked up as daisy.

I must say that I agree with Shizzle. “Ambre the best person for Bret? Maybe not. But between her and Daisy??? 100% yes!!!” To all the people who keep saying Ambre is old & she should be married with kids need to realize that all women do not posses the dream of being married & having 3 1/2 kids. It’s nothing wrong that she doesn’t have kids or hasn’t been married b/c I am sure it’s by her choice that she hasn’t done any of the two things thus far; I mean how easy is it to get pregnant or adopt these days or even marry the first sucker that tell you that he loves you. I am sure she like most actresses put their careers 1st & the family / baby making 2nd, ultimately it’s her choice. As far as Ambre being old she’s not. I must admit I never thought she looked 32 but she does look damn good for a 37 year old, I’m sure she’s shutting down many of you 20 year olds blogging on this site who have never had kids but your stomach & body looks like you have pushed out a couple! Ambre is closer to Bret’s age numerically & mentally she’s mature unlike that immature a$$ Daisy. Bret isn’t getting any younger & I don’t feel that getting involved with a needy 25 year old is the best thing for him. Bret made the right decision.

I really think that she looks like a transvesti, i mean, all those plastic surgeries at such a young age…come on!! i thought she was 30 something!! And living with ur ex in a one bedroom apartment…without sex…yeah right!!Amber seems very stable and independent and she will handle Bret’s lifestyle for sure, although, he should put from his part also to make things work (he may be close to his fans but he should put some degree of distance in order to respect his relationship!!) So what if she lied about her age…compare to Daisy that hide all those skeletons? Besides Bet has two daughters, he had to think of them too…Daisy probably would show them how to pole dance or something!! Amber is a good role model for them and a great match for Bret!! I think Bret picked the best choice FOR HIM, since Ambre is closest to his age. BUT I really liked Daisy and think she got a bad wrap. She seemed honest and like she really did have feelings for him. ITs a shame that people judge people on how they look. Just because she used her sex appeal doesnt mean she isnt a good person or has true feelings, I think those people are jealous. IF you are secure with yourself like Ambre says she would not be bothered that Daisy uses her sexiness. I wish Daisy the best!

I don’t like Bret’s decision at all. Although, neither of the them are good for him. I did like Daisy better than Ambre. Bret kept dwelling on Daisy’s past and everyone kept accusing her of lying..she wasn’t lying, she just didn’t tell everything and she didn’t need to, it was her business, no one else’s. She answered his questions honestly. None of Ambre’s past was aired and she wasn’t raked across the coals like Daisy was..the only thing Ambre let slip is that she was engaged for 7 years..I think there is something wrong with that picture..why didn’t everyone harass her about that?? Now Ambre is trying to cover up her lying by saying VH1 edited it that way..she did lie and to lie about something that small, wonder what else she would lie about? Ambre is not attractive at all and if Daisy wouldn’t inject her lips, she would be a doll. Daisy fit him but she was too much of an airhead and it was all a competition to Ambre. That’s all she talks about in her interview..what she used to do, what she is doing now, blah, blah, blah!!! ONE QUESTION I WAS REALLY INTERESTED IN WAS WHERE VH1 ASKED HER IF BRET EVER TOLD HER HE LOVED HER…SHE NEVER ANSWERED THE QUESTION..SO THAT MEANS NO NO NO NO NO..HE DOESN’T, HOW COULD HE? He admitted that he slept with Daisy the entire time they were in the house..and only hooked up with Ambre in Cancun..she basically had to throw it on him before he would take it. That should of showed her that he wasn’t attracted to her that way..she was so desperate. And by watching Amber and her “abs” that was ridiculous..and just like Megan said “PLEASE SOMEONE TAKE AWAY THE SCISSORS!!” Ambre didn’t dress like the other girls and just because Bret made a comment about her abs, she would cut all her shirts to show them…she didn’t have any. That was hilarious! Ambre never done any exercises to make any abs and that’s why she had Frenchie and Bret showing her how to make her stomach look like abs.
I used to love Heather to death, but the way she acted towards Daisy on the show..I don’t like her attitude anymore. She should of had some compassion for Daisy, she was once in her place. But I think she was jealous of Daisy for some reason and when I saw the clips for the reunion show, she really showed her true colors by hitting Daisy over and over-I hope Daisy pressed charges against her. I think she was jealous cause Daisy and Bret were sleeping together and she still wants him. She didn’t need to even be at the reunion show..she did nothing for Bret but bring contraversy to his 2nd show and just like he said in Vegas..”Heather, you are doing nothing to help me, you are causing more trouble and it’s ruining my time here”. I am glad he sent her butt )*#*+ ng!!!
I know Bret isn’t in a committed relationship with Ambre, there is no way for him to be..she even said that she had only talked to him a few times and they are only datin..hmmm, yeah, right!!. He is hooking up with women at his shows and I believe he will continue to do that until he really falls in true love with someone. He admitted all along that Ambre really wasn’t his type and even Heather told him that Ambre would never fit in to his lifestyle. I think the only reason that he picked her was because he had to pick someone and Daisy needed some more time to grow so the lesser of 2 evils was Ambre, he knew that he could just dump her after the show..and all Bret is really concerned about is getting some booty..that’s the only thing he said to Ambre after he chose her..not “I love you” but “let’s go have wild monkey s ex!”
Good luck Bret with finding your real true love..we all know it’s not Jess, Heather, Ambre or Daisy…for now you need to just focus on your daughters and your career..you have had enough women in your lifetime to do 1000 men. Just be careful next time to not end up having to choose between a lying, manipulating, career focused, instigator, hag, person needing some plastic surgery, bad actress like Ambre and an airhead, silicone infused, can’t talk without using her hands, immature, can’t complete sentences, fake crier like Daisy! I THINK BRET MADE THE RIGHT DECISION BY PICKING AMBRE! SHE IS HIS AGE AND MATURE. DAISY WAS STILL MESSING WITH HER EX-BOYFRIEND! I THOUGHT I HEARD HER SAY THAT THEY WHERE IN A BAND. IF SO SHE WAS ON THE SHOW FOR THE EXPOSURE FOR THE BAND.

Bret made the right decision in the end. Daisy is an immature nit-wit who had nothing to offer other than sex to Bret. Even if Bret did choose Daisy she would have to go & live w/ Charles for another 5 months & what man is o.k. w/ thier girlfriend living w/ their “ex”, not to mention in an one bedroom apt.? Daisy was full of lies & too young in years & mind set for Bret. Bret wouldn’t be able to bring her around his family w/out being embarassed, she’s a mess. What people fell to see is that Bret would have gotten bored w/ Daisy b/c there was no substance to their relationship unlike him & Ambre. Way to go Bret for making the right decision & taking a big boy pill.
