And Ambre takes it! Below, she tells us what’s going on with her relationship with Bret: “I’m dating Bret. I’m not disillusioned. I don’t think we’re going to run off and get married.” Also discussed: her background in acting, going panty-free and her near-elimination on the first episode. Get ready to feel what it’s like to be Bret’s rock of love:
How has it been spending five months away from Bret? Do feelings change?
Absolutely not. We talked about that at great length. He told me, “Listen, we can’t see each other. I’m not even supposed to call you. You need to know what you’re up against.” I told him that I knew what I signed up for. I’m a strong, confident woman. I’m not needy. Was it hard? Of course. But I feel like it was well worth it.
So you’re every bit as in love with Bret as you were in Cancun?
Absolutely.
Did you speak with him during the time between the filming and the reunion?
He got in touch with me several times, and we saw each other. We spent time together and we talked about it, but it was good. I needed to see him. It was nice.
Where are you in your relationship now?
I’m dating Bret. I’m not disillusioned. I don’t think we’re going to run off and get married. We’re dating and we’re going to see how this dating process holds, because we were in Cancun, we were on these challenges, I was fighting for love. Now it’s time to see how this works in the real world.
As practical as that sounds, is that satisfying for you?
It is. I’m in the entertainment industry, and it’s hard to date someone who isn’t. I’m always on set. I’m never home. When I’m on set, I can’t answer the phone. Bret has a similar lifestyle. He’s always on the road. It’s hard to get in touch with him. So he gets it and it’s really refreshing to date someone who understands my life.
Do you have any plans for making it work, or are you just playing it by ear?
I’ve always played it by ear and things are so natural, we have such great chemistry and a great friendship that we’re just going to see what happens. I didn’t plan for this and neither did he. So why mess with things now and start planning things? I think we should just go and see what happens. And I’m excited about that.
You’re optimistic.
Of course! If I didn’t think there was going to be some future or some chance for us, I wouldn’t have fought as hard. I wouldn’t have tried this experience in the first place. We found a great connection. We understand each other, which is very refreshing.
And the fact that Bret’s surrounded by women, especially on tour, doesn’t make you worry?
We’re both in the industry and I understand that his work is a little bit more hardcore than mine. But I’m a confident woman. If I have a great relationship and there’s communication, I trust people until there’s a reason not to. I don’t really focus on things like that. In the house, it wasn’t about competing or being jealous for me. It was about Bret finding the one for him. We were all so different, how could I compare myself to them?
You were almost eliminated on the first night.
Crazy! It blows my mind. When that happened, I was like, “I’m going next week.” And then we started making this connection and it started to grow. You don’t look back after that.
What kind of terms are you on with Daisy?
After the reunion [taped a few weeks ago], we talked. A situation like a reality show is out-of-the-ordinary. It got bad in Cancun. She was hurt, I was hurt. We talked about it and I think we’re moving past it.
Having acted and hosted shows, this exposure must feel really good.
I’ve been acting for years now and I’ve never experienced this side of it. It just blows my mind how reality TV can expose you so quickly.
I read an interview in which you talked about weighing out the pros and cons of entering the reality TV fold with your agent. Where are you with that now? Was doing Rock of Love a good career move?
It was a big risk to do this and it was something that I thought about, but I went on the show with an open heart, because I feel like the bigger the risk, the bigger the reward. From this, yes, there’s been a big reward. But will I be stigmatized to one genre? I don’t think so, because I stayed true to myself on the show. I think I’ll be able to move forward in my career, but we’ll see what happens.
Because you have a showbiz background, the cynic’s reading of your involvement with the show is that you did it all for exposure. What do you have to say about that criticism?
I’ve only heard that a few times, and I think the reason that it’s been so infrequent is that I have remained true to myself. I didn’t become this rocker character. I didn’t form a character for the show at all. I went on as me, I went to try to find love for me and see if it works out for me and I think that comes across on TV.
It’s interesting when you talk about staying true to yourself because people thought that your no-panties date with Bret was out of character.
The thing is, when you’re dating someone, because I was dating Bret…I said things at that dinner table that you would say to your significant other that you wouldn’t necessarily say for the whole world. At that moment, I just forgot the cameras were there because I was just there with Bret.
I know that you posted a blog about being accused of lying about your age, and I wonder if you want to say anything else about it?
There’s editing involved in the show. I just don’t want people to think that I’m a liar because I’m not.
Are you still hosting?
I’ve moved onto other gigs. I just signed a letter of intent to host another TV show that’s going to air nationwide. But I’ll still do commercials and film and TV and that kind of thing.
Your father said in his exit interview, “No father wants their daughter to end up with Bret,” and you did. Is he disappointed at the show’s outcome?
No. My dad had the best intentions with that line. He meant that he doesn’t think anyone’s good enough for his daughter, but he thinks Bret’s a great guy. If that’s who I’m in love with, he supports it.
There’s a very palpable power dynamic on the show: Bret is flanked by women telling him that they’re in love with him, but he’s generally tight-lipped. Do you find him to be emotionally closed-off? Has he told you that he loves you?
He’s not emotionally closed off. What he says to me, he doesn’t say in front of the cameras. He couldn’t in that situation. You just can’t. But when the cameras aren’t there, we do talk. The things we talk about help me stay strong throughout the time that we weren’t able to see each other. They’re the things that I cherish.

When I told my husband that Brett chose Ambre over Daisy he said, “Good for her.” My only response could be, “Good for HIM.” It is so refreshing to see Brett choose a substantial woman of quality! It is reassuring to those of us that are intelligent, athletic, attractive, and goal-oriented women that we are appreciated for the sum of who we are. I never thought I would like the person that Brett is as much as I do. I probably mis-judged him. He clearly values more than just arm charm in his life. Daisy is a really nice girl, but gosh does she have a long way to go in her path to a self-sustaining life. She just screams NEEDY! Way to go Brett, Good for YOU! Ambre, thanks for carrying the torch for the college-educated, career-oriented, babes of the world. In a day where the Paris Hiltons, Britney Spears, and the like make me embarrassed to be a woman, you’ve made me proud!

I had an epiphany lol….I think (merely my opinion) Bret chooses the woman he is LESS interested in. Let’s face it, if Bret wanted real love he could have it. The first Rock of Love it was DEFINITELY apparent he was into Heather and there was something much deeper between them. Same with Daisy. I think Bret was being cruel to be kind. NOT choosing the girl he cared most about as he knew he wasn’t ready for anything deep or substantial and he knew the other girl wouldn’t get as hurt when the show ends and he vanishes…..If he had chosen Heather and pulled that crap it would’ve hurt her worse, same with Daisy….Just my thought….It just seems that he hasn’t chosen one girl that he truly had a connection with…..I guess it’s easier to walk away from someone you DON’T connect with…..get my point?

I don’t think ambre was the right one for bret. Bret need a girl that is involve in what he does. He needs the support from pleople that love him. I don’t think that ambre is going to privide support for him if she is always doin tv shows. I like ambre at some point but then she turn to be one of the girl that were more about taking care of the camara, and what we see, then actually letting herself go. Bret needs daisy. He is not ready to get marry, he needs a girl that will always be gatting for him after his concets to make love to each other and i thinks thats something that ambre will never give to him, unlesss they see eachother after 5 month then maybe we will make love to her. But if he is gone five month, then she needs to keep in mind that hi is a man and man have needs. Bret has lots of close girlfriends, he loves to see then naked and he loves kissing then on the month and maybe making love to them, but is he going to stop all of that only because he is with ambre? jajajajajaja the answer is no.
I know that daisy and bret are going to see each other more than ambre. But he needs that.
Sorry ambre, you should of just left that day, he was not going to pick you, because he wants a sexy girl that can be with him and you can’t.

It was refreshing to see a man pick someone with substance and maturity over a very immature, over-processed child. Ambre is mature enough to handle Bret’s life style. She is confident and secure with herself. Daisy has a lot of growing up to do. Daisy seems to have some major pschological issues and the constant crying does not mean she is more in love with Bret than Ambre. The constant crying just shows she has the maturity level of a 12 year old. As far as looks go, Ambre is a beautiful lady. She is 12 years older than Daisy and has no problem holding her own. I don’t see Daisy looking so hot at 37. I believe the majority of the negative comments about Ambre are coming from the 20 somethings. I hate to tell you but there is something beautiful about a woman in her 30’s and older, who takes care of herself, and knows what she wants in life. The 20 somethings should take note, reading a book and experiencing life in a positive way will be more attractive later in life than plastic surgery. As far as who loves Bret more. Watch body language. Ambre is into Bret. Daisy is completely into herself. Congratulations Ambre and Bret. I have complete respect for Bret and, once again, a Poison fan.

I think that Ambre is good actress for the fact that this show was a publicity stunt for her to get on tv more. I personaly never heard or seen her on tv, movies or anything. But I guess I don’t think any of the girls were right for Bret on this season, but I better not see another season pop up. I think if you are really looking for love you don’t need a tv station to help you. I think it is all fake but good entertainment. And besides did you read Ambre’s interview every answer she had to metion something about what she does for a living. I thought brett wanted a normal girl someone that was not involved in the industry in anyway. That should be a big red flag to the fact that this show isn’t real. I don’t get it, and if some one has seen Ambre in anything beside Rock of Love let me know cuz i haven’t. Ambre is a pretty lady though I just think that she is not really into Brett and the industry teachs you that you have to do something to get where you wanna go.

did anyone notice that daisy was wearing the necklace that bret gave her when she left for the final elimination, had it on going down the stairs, then it was gone halfway down, then it was back, then when she was standing next to ambre it was there, then it was gone. Then it was gone the whole time during elimination but then it was back again when she spoke at the end. either terrible editing or did bret pick her and then change his mind??? no wonder they say reality tv is fixed!!!

Thank God Brett!!! He finally used his big head and not his little one! He’s tried the cheap slutty girls I’m so glad he finally gave the “REAL” girl a chance. I can’t believe people thought Daisy was the better choice. We could all get fake boobs, hair extensions, and inject our lips with collagen but isn’t real better??? In the end, Bret may have not made a REAL love connection with Ambre, but I am glad to see that he was smart enough to see what Daisy was all about…she is shady. I believe that Ambre and Bret are smart enough to just try *dating* in the real world…they may be surprised at the outcome. Anyone with *eyes* could see that Daisy was HOTTER than Ambre but some of the PICS I have seen on the internet are not PICS I would want to have to explain to my children…people seem to forget that Bret has two little girls. Daisy would have to really CLEAN UP her act…Ambre does have to do that. *high five* Bret Michaels…you made us PA proud!
