The Celebreality Interview - Thing 2
We have a winner…but how enduring is Thing’s victory? Below, the noted twin talks about where she and Flav are in their relationship, her bond with her sister, Sinceer’s backstabbing and how she really felt about being called “Thing” for the time that she was in the Flav mansion. Was her connection with Flav strong enough to endure the months between the shooting and the airing of the finale?
Have you spoken to Flav since the finale?
I’ve seen Flav a couple of times since the show. He took me out to Benihana not long after the finale wrapped. But he’s been off in Canada doing his show, and I’ve had other things going on. We haven’t seen each other in a few months but it’s still exciting. I’m excited to see what’s going to happen.
What do you think? Is it going to work out?
I mean, yeah. We had a really strong connection, and I feel like it’s a strong possibility that it will work out.
When you won, was there any feeling of, “Ha. Take that, bitches!”?
Basically, yes, to Sinceer. It’s like, it’s in your face because you thought you were doing something. You tried to back-stab me, but it blew up in your face. That was real rewarding, but me being with Flav was the best reward.
How do you feel about Sinceer today?
The show was months ago and she was desperate and she did what she felt like she had to do. But, you know, she’s a loser and I’m a winner, so…
Flav talked about chemistry versus connection, but aren’t they basically the same thing?
I feel like they’re similar, but when you have a certain type of connection, that’s a little deeper to me.
When he named you and your sister “Thing 1 and Thing 2,” they flashed to you talking about how you liked the name. But did it ever get weird to be called “thing” all the time?
For the record, we did not like that name when he first gave it to us. We liked “Sugar” and “Spice,” but Flav did not like that. But “Thing 1” and “Thing 2” is real unique, and a lot of people are going to remember that. Sometimes I did think, “Oh my gosh. All of America is going to think of us as things. I don’t want to be known as a thing.” But it is what it is. We just have to accept it.
You were grouped with your sister and your similarities were constantly highlighted by the show. What are the biggest differences between you and your sister?
On the show, our weight. (Laughs) That’s it. Of course, we’re one, but we’re still individuals. My sister’s a little more relaxed, and I’m a little more uptempo. I’m a little more boisterous.
You were the first girl on Flavor of Love to ever turn down a nightcap. That’s so hot. What was the reasoning behind that?
I just wanted Flav to get to know me. I wanted us to connect on a talkative level, nothing physical. I just felt like we needed to wait, and whatever was going to happen after the show was going to happen. It was going good, and we just needed to leave it that way.
But there was a physical attraction, right? He seemed so into you and your sister.
Yeah, and I was definitely attracted to Flav. His personality shined so much and it just made him look…he was just a beautiful person. Inside shined out. Me turning down that nightcap, it wasn’t like I wasn’t attracted to him, it just felt like the right thing to do at the time.
When you talk about the inside shining through, does that mean you’re physically attracted to Flav?
Flav isn’t typically the type of guy I go after. I typically go for bigger guys, but being around him, you can’t help but really like him and really feel him as a person.
It was kind of crazy that he eliminated you, only to bring you back.
I was really surprised when I got eliminated. Even when my sister left, I never saw it coming. I knew the kind of connection Flav and I have. When Rick called me to tell me to go to France, I knew Flav knew he made a mistake. It was an immediate thing. A couple days later, I was on the plane to France.
At that point, did you know you had this competition in the bag?
In a way, but he brought New York back twice. I realized that he could have been missing me at that moment, but it didn’t mean he was going to pick me at that time. It was iffy. I didn’t know what to expect.
How did your sister’s elimination affect you?
It was tough. You’re coming in with someone you know, you love and you trust. And then to have that taken away in such a stressful environment, it was hard. But we knew it was going to come to that. Ultimately, if Flav was really looking for love, he couldn’t possibly pick two sisters.
How did your sister react when she found out you won?
She was happy. If it wasn’t going to be her, she wanted it to be me, and if it wasn’t going to be me, I wanted it to be her. She was more ecstatic than I was.
She has no resentment for you?
Oh, never. No, no. A man would never come between us.
Is there any weirdness that you’re with someone you were both competing for?
You know what? In any other circumstance, there probably would be. But because we came off a show, and it was a strange situation anyway, no. It’s just something we can look back on and laugh about.
How has it been dealing with the fans?
Really crazy. You have all kinds of fans: normal ones, crazy ones. We had a couple of times where girls came up to us and tried to attack us because we might have booted somebody they liked off the show. It got to the point where when we go out to a club or anything like that, we need security with us.
And what about your portrayal?
I feel like they did me some justice. We were up in there acting a fool. We were cutting up, so I think they made us look really good. (Laughs)
In all, how was the experience for you?
Wonderful. It was a life-changing experience. It gave me so many opportunities and made me look at life in a new perspective. I’m really glad I got this chance. I had a great time, and I’d do it over again.
What’s coming up for you?
They don’t really like us talking about it, but we do have a couple of offers that we’re working out. You’re gonna see the twins in ’08 and ’09. That’s what I can say right now.
I know you’re apprehensive to talk too much about your future with Flav, but what do you see as the best-case scenario?
I see us having a really great relationship. A good, good friendship, partnership. We’ll be there for each other. We’ll be life-long partners, friends, whatever you want to call it.
In the same city? The same house?
Wherever. He’s a great person. I think it’s going to work out for the best.

I’m happy for Flav that he found love but can’t help but feel like we ALL got played (not just the girls).
I knew that some parts were staged for “good tv”, but I thought for the MOST part that he was really looking for love. There were rumors that he was engaged in Jan. , but the rumor got squashed and BANG season 3. My opinion now is that he wanted to get married but did a third season for the money first. I hope the girls were better clued in than we were, because I can’t imagine the pain that SOME feel being made a joke on national TV, if they had no clue.
I would never wish harm on anyone SO….. good luck FLAV and I hope Thing 2 gets PAID

As far as I,m concerned Flav is a Black ugly funny looking excuse for a man. He used these young women and he is old enough to be their father.He also has six more kids what about their mothers? What is this jerk doing for them? Flav is a poor excuse for a black man, he has no morals or values. He keeps having unprotected sex and babies. Thing 2 is lucky he dumped her he could have given her something cause his bay momma look dirty. His self esteem is so low that he is willing to use these women to feel better about him self. All jokes aside Flav you need counseling and you need to see a plastic surgeon.Then maybe you,ll feel better about yourself and you won,t have to use innocent women for self gratification .Flav you are fifty years old please get some help you are one sick puppy.

Flav if I would have went back to my baby’s moma too. Why take the bottom of the ugly barrel. Thing 1 & 2 gap teeth were to die for. At the top and bottom, damn that messed up. I think the show was the same as the others to many uneducated black woman searching for money an fame in the wrong way. The twins were both ugly one had a gape and the other was fat. Sinceer head was huge and she was annoying flav is an ughly man and the only reason why he did the show was not to find love but to get money so he can take care oif all his children. His rap game just NOT what it use to be………

Whats Good Thing 2. First of all, I would like to commend you for not having that night cap with Flav. At least you can say, that you werent another notch under his belt. Hold your head up girl.
Our men have continuosly, betrayed us for white women.
Its a known fact, since the beginning of time. We are and always will be African Queens. The white women who are getting black men, are the chicks who, will allow a man to do what ever he wants , whenever he wants. Perfect example,,,,,If Liz can lay down with Flav, and marry him, that shows what kind of respect she has for herself. He kissed 65 women, and slept with a lot of them.
There she is up on stage acting as if she really Won something. I wouldnt be able to kiss my husband again if I knew he kissed 1 woman. I treasure my body to much.
Black women all over the world need not feed into the concept, that white women have all of our men. Becasue they dont. They have the handfull of insecure, men who have lost their strength, and identities. Keep your head up, and step up your game.
Dont let the race beat you down. Stop hating each other, and thinking that white woman is your friend. I watched a lot of black females go against each other. Are we our enemy? No,,take a look around and see who it really is that is trying to undermind us, just like white men have underminded so many of our blk men. (prisons, gang violence..ect…)

I think Flav has some issues because he didn’t stay with thing 2 after this season. I think all of them was just for show of T.V and thats not nice to toy with manys of paeople emotions. I just hope that Flav gets his act together. And i really think he should reconsider THING 2. They made each other so complete and i seen it from day one. think you baby girl. Flav thake my advice think about don’t rush in to anything. You had a good thing going.

I just wrote but it looks like i had some mistakes i would like to fix I was trying to say those shows were just for T.V. and thats not nice toying with some many emtions. I think it’s really messed up. Thats okay because if Flav is crazy enough to not want THING 2 I’m sure she will find someone else and that’s Flav’s lose. But good luck to you THING 2 and I always knew you would end up being his heart. Sorry he can’t see that. good luck to you and I hope you find someone else all the girls that was on the show. All you guys are downing flav for thing 2. Yall dont know those twins, them hoes is from los angeles. they used to work at a liquor store on gage and vermont. them __^*# es is hoes and if anybody was looking for STABILITY it was they @+& first of all, they dikes and to be honest when i went to their house on budlong and saw that they was sharing a bed i was disgusted. my man wouldn’t even let them do my hair cus they would have tried to `_%$ i was surprised when i seen thing1 boyfriend because he was kind of young. when i knew them hoes they was `_%$ ing very old men and using them for their money. and when i say old i mean 80 maybe 90. i knew them thru my man and he called them hoes. now dont get me wrong i aint knocking them for trying to eat, but these 5 dollar hoes got on tv like they royalty. judging everybody else. it disgusted me to see them pick on some girls in the house because they was having financial problems. when these __^*# es had jobs, was `_%$ ing old men for $ and gaming studs for $ and still slept in the same bad in a 1bedroom apt. and lets not mention the abortion cause the baby would have been “!!+^ ed probably due to heavy exstacy use. dont get me started. like i said i aint hating. just dont throw stones when you are living in a glasshouse.

Why all the comments on race. If flav wants to be with the mother of his child then so be it. All the comments about him being a disgrace to his race get over it, “It’s just TV”. Entertainment only, you ignorents! If he was so disgracefully what are all of you judgmental hens doing still watching the show. After all it is his third season, and evidentally you thought enough of him to continue to support it otherwise, MTV would have shafted him after season one. Stop blaming the entertainers for everthing and blame yourself and the sick stuff it takes to entertain you. After all media only responds when we respond to them, so if he is a disgrace, then we as viewers are disgraceful. Because of the extent we have to be entertained. We only tune in to Pimp/Suga daddies, criminals, pedifiles and women all too women to show their bodies to get their fifteen minutes of fame. Since day 1 I’ve been a huge fan of Thing 2 and her sister! But towards the middle I stopped liking them as much just due to the simple fact that her and Sinceer were doing whatever they could to get all the girls up out the house! They would ask questions and jump to conclusions that “Ooh they’re just here for t.v. Flav”,or “They’re here for the wrong reasons!”.I think thats wrong and somewhat snakish of them! They made Flav believe anything they said.They should have just kept their ears in their own buisness! O.K. ladies…growup, be intelligent, and speak like dignified white and black women. We have been so oprressed within our cultures that we can’t even expand our thinking beyond that. The fact of the matter is sin is sin. It was a sin and a shame for anyone to be carrying on the way they were carrying themselves on that show. It was only right in the eyes of God for Flav to propose to Liz. Remember, the word says it is better to marry than to burn. Further more, he who is without sin cast the first stone. Some of the comments I read were very judgmental and racist. Get over it. God has no respect of persons. Anyway, what will you say when you have a female or black president? They are both minorities. I read several of the above comments and from the looks of it some of you are not only ignorant in your train of thought, but your grammar and sentence structure can use a little work. Until you get all of that together, you need not be worried about Thing 2, Flav, or Liz. Look in the mirror. Take a nice long look. If you don’t like what you see, then you need to be working on you.

I was hoping he would choose you , I thought you would be the most real and sincere woman for him. They call him the hype man..well theres a old saying that proves to be true..dont believe the hype. while flavor was worrying who was real he was fake..he was in it for the money..I hope he can live with himself.and to you , be proud you have nothing to be ashamed. You carried yourself well despite the situation and came out on top..flavor lost not only you but fans who believed in him and wanted the best for him. THING2 - IN A STRANGE SORT OF WAY, THESE LOOKING FOR LOVE SHOWS COULD HELP YOUNG PEOPLE LEARN ABOUT RELATIONSHIPS. THEY REALLY LAY IT OUT THERE FOR ALL TO SEE, EVEN THRU THE EDITING. 1st of all Flavor of Love is a SHOW it is only Entertainment, and so what if Flav did it for the $. Get $$$ Flav. As far as all you B’s go w/ this race stuff, you are ignorant and need to get over it. People who focus on race so much obviously are insecure and hide behind their race. I personally dont feel that Flav dissed a Sista and went w/ a white broad for any reason other than that is who he truly wanted to be with. I hope to see Thing 1 & 2 in their own show, that would be good. And just remember to all you sista’s out there hatin’ on “white” women and our “mixed” children… We are all Gods children and now of days most people are “mixed” in some way or another. If it is that much of a disgrace to be a “white” woman w/ a black man then quit lookin’ @ us and look @ ur self!!!!

I don’t understand why everybody feels so bad about what Flav did sure it was wrong that he proposed to that woman in front of the other girls but lets be realistic none those girls truly loved Flav in the first place if you look at the past shows the two girls that he chose began modeling and music careers those other girls were doing the same thing that show wasn’t just a career move for Flav but for everyone. In real life most of those girls would never date FLAV in the first place, let alone be seen with somebody like him. And I don’t think RACE really matters when it comes to Love if you love someone your going love them for who they are regardless of RACE.

I just want to say that the Flavor of love all three seasons were very entertaining. I just could not help glueing myself to the TV every monday night. But I was a lilttle dissapointing because it kind of became predictable kinda like a bad soap. I was deeply dissapointed that Flav played all these woman with his ugly “+%!`_!@(@$_!` knowing he was going to stay with his baby momma. But I commend all of the girls that used the show to go on to bigger and better things because for all they had to go through with that piece of work. Good actors! I must say. Well yall keep it spicy on vh1 because ysll really know how to write a interesting “reality” show!
