Nas Drops Controversial N Word Title
As we informed you a month ago, Queens-born rapper Nas opted to name his upcoming July 1st release N*gger, in a move that shocked the public and polarized the hip-hop community. Many, including his label head, Jay-Z and Al Sharpton, felt compelled to speak out on the title.
Now Nas himself is finally discussing his controversial choice, and possibly changing it. In an interview with MTV, Nas explained the title is still up in the air, given the amount of pressure he’s received from his record label. “Everybody is trying to stop the title….Record stores are gonna have a problem in this day and time selling a record with that title. Who knows what’s gonna turn out and be on that title? Who knows what that title will be?”
In yet another statement issued yesterday, however, Nas sounded even more pressured, and had a cryptic message to convey to his fans: “The people will always know what the real title of this album is and what to call it.”

Anything for publicity, what a complete loser. First for thinking of doing that and for wearing that shirt. What’s wrong with people? You have all this money and making all this money and you wanna do something that stupid. Its bad enough that back in the day that is what white people called us, but now you want to promote your album by calling it that. I really dont want to hear nothing your ignorant butt have to say. The last I’m going to say is dont buy his album people. Bad enough cursing but we have to make a stand. All of this FOUL language has to go. You can make a song without being nasty, cursing and degrading people.I just want to reach up there and smack him and that hood rat he is with that has that stupid wig on and that stupid shirt.

Like Jay-Z said, just because he wear a kuffi, don’t mean that he’s bright….black people are the ONLY race who thinks a racial insult is a term of endearment and something positive. The last thing those of our people who were hung from trees, mutilated, bludgeoned beyond recognition and worse ever heard was the word “N!GGER”….is Nas serious?? An album ^~) le?? I’m sure he’s not using “Nigger” as a term of endearment. he’s making a statement in his own way, breaking the chains of power that word had over us. He’s not trying to make it positive, in my opinion, but trying to make the word void. Stop complaining folks it’s not that big of a deal. The only problem I see is the Record Stores being able to sell a CD with that (&* le. It’s always a way around it though.
