Celebs Check Into Rehab 2 With Dr. Drew

Celebrity Rehab

Gossip Web sites have been buzzing with rumors, gossip and hearsay as to which celebs will be included in the second season of Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew — and most of them have been wrong! Allow us to set the record straight (via a VH1 press release):

Similar to the first cycle, the second season of “Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew” will follow the real-life experiences of celebrity patients undergoing detoxification and treatment at a center in the Los Angeles area. The show will follow Jeff Conaway as he checks back into rehab after a series of back surgeries, setbacks and subsequent reliance on pain medications. Joining him in rehab are Sean Stewart (Sons of Hollywood), Amber Smith (model/actress), Rodney King, Nikki McKibbon (American Idol), Steven Adler (Guns n Roses) and Tawny Kitaen (Actress). Gary Busey, who is 13 years sober, will also be joining the cast to share his experiences and thoughts on the recovery process.

The series is set to premiere in October. Check photos of all the new rehabbers.

    Dr. Drew,
I Have a friend of mine that is addicted to Fentanyl Patches and any kind of opiates. Is there any kind of help that you could offer this person does not have insurance.
    Thank You,
    Danni

I think that your a great man for helping all these people but it would be nice if you could just help the average person in need they are ones with out the proper resources and medical insurance. Maybe a reality show with just the average Joe and Joanne Please consider

  • Joe Says:

As science progresses, mankind progresses. But when ‘doctors’ step in and make money rather than make science we all suffer. All the ‘celebs’ have the same thing wrong with them. They have not developed ADULT EGOES, only parent and child ego, hence the unmitigated conflicts within.

Buy a book about Transactional Analysis and learn how the mind really works psychologically. Sure, it will only cost you five bucks but you can get more than a mere semblance of control. The president of the Psychologyl *(@)!&+)&@+&%`^ ociation of America on whose watch the responsibility fell to ruin Transactional Analysis in the 1970s, was eventually prosecuted for drugging and raping clients in the 1980s. What a ‘doctor’. All of psychology is down-stream from his actions, and nobody gets well, just rich!

  • Melissa J. Says:

    THIRST

I wish to be in the darkest night
No longer prisoner of the light
Don’t want to be with things I see
No longer conscience of reminders of me.

Surrounded by those, for me, it seems
Verbalize they love and care for me
Unable to feel the same, I find,
    Within, only self-hatred hides.

From innocent child to this grave place
Now a liar, a thief, with a criminals face
Not able to birth a child like me
A glimpse of Devine plan that should not be.

Cannot find answers, not sure what to ask
Not knowing that living would be such a task
Many empty bottles, no help found
And inner demons that never drown.

  • tami Says:

    HI DR. DREW,

WATCHING FROM AFAR IS MUCH DIFFERENT BUT I SEE EACH PERSON , AND HOPE THEY COME TO SEE THEY ARE WORTH BEING BETTER. AND THEY ARE STROND ENOUGH. WHO THEY SURROUND THEMSELVES WITH IS IMPORTANT. I WISH EACH ONE OF THEM THE ABSOLUTE BEST. PEOPLE WATCH THIS SHOW WANTING THEM TO SUCCEED. TRULY. ALSO, I THINK SHELLY AND THE OTHER STAFF ARE GREAT AND THEIR WORK IS REWARDING AND WILL BE EVEN MORE SO.

  • mike Says:

i hope all make it through sober living. i don’t want to throwbarbs at any of them , but gary busey is the stupidest, ignorant self serving idiot to come down the pike in a long, long time. he didn’t give one single bit of advice that didn’t include his 13 years of sobriety. next comes jeff get the freakin operation , i’m sick of watching you abuse the other patients and for kicking your girl friend you merit a good @`(_*$(^%~!#~)* kicking. you’ll probally be on nex season because this is the only work you are qualified for. man the world owes you nothing you are obnoxious a big blow-hard and it’s not anyones fault your out of the acting business but you. the rest of the cast were seriously trying to get their crap together and i hope they do

  • Jennifer Beasley Says:

I must say that this show has truly inspired me as well…I have been off heroin since February 11, 2008, and prior to that 8-day self created hell I was off heroin for almost 3 years. Drug addiction has broken me down in so many ways, physically, emotionally, spiritually, and mentally. I wish I could have the special gift that all the people on your show received. The truth, I had plenty of “interventions” and treatment, but I just wasn’t ready to get and stay clean. I recently was asked to pick up my roomate from a friends house and walked into a land mine! Cocaine in my face! Although that wasn’t my drug of choice I did use it during my relapses. What a victory for me, I was able to say no! I really have no desire to get high anymore…I just wish the binge drinking would stop! I have a liver disease - Hep C - and I want to quit, just haven’t made a decision to quit yet. My hope is that I stop before my liver does…

  • Sean and Amber Says:

Sean - What an incredible person you are. I only wish I could meet you and hug you. Here’s the thing. Remember and manifest on the things that you WANT. The law of attraction does not recognize words of negation. Therefore, When you manifest thoughts of NOT taking drugs or NOT drinking you are manifesting thoughts of taking drugs and drinking, and lots of it. Check out The Secret. It will change your life and get you through your mission to follow your dreams and YOUR PASSIONS. I can’t wait to hear about what wonderful things you are accomplishing. You are so worth all that and more. Good Luck. As for Amber, you and she are soal mates. It’s that obvious.

I come from a family of alcholics; my mother passed away when I was 16, due to alcohol related congestive heart failure and probably suicide. I was left aimless. I fell into drinking, drugs, and a life of insecurity and fear of rejection. It wasn’t until last February at the ripe age of 53 that I finally realized my dreams and took ownership of my own destiny. You can do it. Watch The Secret. It will change your life.

    Dede

  • Stephanie Says:

I have been clean for 8 years now with one relapse. It is not easy, but staying clean is the only option to living. I wish you all the best of luck with your recovery. It is a process. Don’t let it beat you. I have lost both of my brothers to thier addictions and any loss before their time is tragic. Drugs kill people and almost killed me too. Don’t give up. Use the tools which are available to you. Don’t pick up, stay clean…A clean drug free life is the only way…. I have found salvation in my savior Jesus Christ and believe that he is the great physician. Through him anything is possible!!!! God bless you all for your courage…

  • Rick Tufts Says:

    Dr. Drew,
I’ve enjoyed this season’s show and cast, but must include, I feel I am in the same type of sinking boat as Amber. My sister more so than I. To make a long story short, my sister has dealt with demons the majority of her life. She’s batteled alcoholism, anerexia, suicide and a host of other issues. She and her mother have lived together for some number of years now. Since my sister got devorced, she’s been with my mother, helping her and such. Anyway, these two couldn’t live together or without each other. This in turn drove my sister in to deep depressions, drinking and eventually she wound up manic depressive. She’s done all the major testing, medications, hyperbaric sessions and electrical shock treatments, all to no avail.

My sister came in to some money and she confided in me about her life. She really wanted to move out on her own, get back on her feet and start her life all over. We talked for many days, and she finally took that step and moved out. In there some where, with the many fights those two had, my sister took the low blow depivered by my mother and that is one she couldn’t rise above.
She went in to deep deressions and withdraws.

Unfortunatley she ended her life two weeks after she got her apartment. She left a note and it wasn’t her. Meaning my sister was always so upbeat…even in her manic / depressive states. This note was only 3 sentances long.
The only thing my mother stated…”what did the note say,” and “where is the note.”

I real everyday in the thoughts of what continued pains my sister went through all of her adult life. I was one of those who didn’t understand my sister and her issues. All this until after the fact. I feel Amber and my sister were close in what their mental outlooks towards their mother’s were. My sister, much like Amber, was afraid of my mother, what she’d do and say to her.

God’s speed to all the Amber’s out there and what help you can offer to her or anyone else you come in contact with.
    Rick

  • Christopher Says:

It is truely a shame that a beautiful lady like Amber is caught up in such drama and negative turmoil.. I think if she could have found the proper support partner, she would be top in her field…And I mean any field she would choose…I guess to be successful in Hollywood you have to be nuts!…My answer to that is, Leave! get out now!….she’s the type of girl born in the wrong place and trying to deal with something way too hard to beat…..remember this, its not too late…get out of the scum pool, find your true talent, find a partner for life, and get to living…….Christopher

  • Reba06 Says:

I am a stepmom of 2 young boys 8 and 10, whos mother is a drug addict. I applaud each one of you for being in Dr.Drews playhouse and getting help in making your lives better for yourselves. I hope one day my stepsons will be able to share their lives once again with there bilogical mother. She lives on the street somewhere. We never know where she is from one day to the next. I pray for each one of you that your lives can be successful once again. Life is a journey .. Life is what we make it! Three of my favorite quotes are:

“Dont look back over your shoulder for you may miss what is in front of you”.
    “Learn! Love! and Live!”.
“Love yourself first, then only you can love another”.

Thank you Dr. Drew and nurses for being there for others in need of your help. Your show is motivating. Good luck to all! Happy Holidays and a happy successful New Years!

Will there be a new 2009 season of Celebrity Rehab with different addicts/alcoholics? Or only repeats of the old show? I am addicted to Celebrity Rehab and Dr. Drew and hope a new season with different celebs is in the works or set to go. Please, please up date me. Thank you so much.
    Marcia

  • Rachelle Says:

I watch Celebrity Rehab with great interest. My 24 year old son is an addict. He’s been through detox twice and thrown out of rehab twice. I never realized the chaos caused to everyone when someone you love has an addiction. I’ve finally attended a Family Program and am getting help for myself. No more chaos for me.

My heart goes out to all of you. I wish you all the best in 2009.

  • Dr. K. Says:

    Amber,

You are a STRONG, INTELLIGENT, KIND, and LOVELY SPIRIT. Please remember this. I am keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. I know you can BEAT your addiction!!!!!

  • Kim Says:

This message is not for anyone but Rodney himself. You are a true inspiration. You have done some wrong in your life, but to see how the world reacted and made you something you did not ask for leaves me in wonderment. I wish you all the best and know in my heart that you will make this happen. You have a beautiful family, who loves you and needs you. All of my best wishes go out to you. You have nothing to prove to anyone but yourself. Do not listen to anything but the most positive feedback. You do deserve happiness. I wish for you to allow yourself to let go of the ignorance that has impacted your life and move on with the positive. I adore you and your family. Your kids and girl deserve the very best you have to offer…and you deserve the best they have to offer you as well. Please don’t allow some ignorant !`&~)`%~(^$$~(& es to influance your life, they are not worth the effort. All my best! Kim

  • tom mcdonald Says:

Dr Drew…..you dont have a clue. Its obvious to me that you are not an addict, you are not an achoholic but god bless you, you are concerned about the lives of these people .What I see you doing, especially with Adler, is a love to death deal. You dont challenge him, he isnt responseible for his actions. You are loving him to death.
Ego reduction is the name of the game in addiction therapy. Bill Wilson and Bob Smith along with Carl Jung showed us that way back in the thirties its the ego that has to be reduced. I am afraid you are not helping steve Adler by constantly feeding his ego….he needs to bottom out

  • Joel Maurer Says:

Hi Amber,Your a beautiful person in and out ! I can see your not like the others. I know how you feel my parents did the same to me. It’s tuff I know I think you need to find someone who will love you and be there for you. I no I would love to have that in my life.I just woke up and relized that I did`nt have parents that loved me or any real friends, it was just the drugs . Now I`am 37 years old and dont have no family or friends . It all comes down to how you feel if your going to use or not . When you surround your self with good people that you can trust I suppose we would`nt use. Butt who has that!!!!!

  • Dawn Says:

Im praying for you Rodney King. You are the 1 in 10 that will make it. You are the voice of reason in a house of chaos. DO IT RODNEY! You have a heart of gold, don’t waste it. Your kids will benefit from your courage and strength. AMERICA IS ROOTING FOR YOU!!

  • Dawn Says:

Seth and Steven are not serious about staying clean. I think they are like cancer to the others. I think they should leave the sober house. They are putting other people’s sobriety in jepordy. Im a white 37 year old female and Rodney King is my new hero. I never thought I say this but if the world were full of Rodney Kings we’d all be better off. STAY SOBER RODNEY! WE LOVE YOU!

  • Dawn Says:

Showing my support for Rodney! Im praying for you!!

  • Lyndy Says:

How does one contact Dr. Pinksky? I know he must be an extremely busy person but we are at the end of the road for options. Does he do referrals? Anyone know anything, I would appreciate it.
    Lyndy

  • sandy Says:

dr. drew, i would like to know your personal feelings on a dr. that onyour first or second visit there would prescribe100 vicodan able to be filled every 12 days and also 5 refills….is that not creating an addict? THEN HE ADDED A 75 mcg fentynal patch…..any how over the course of the next 4 years he eventually was being prescribed 9 80mg oxycontin= 720 mg daily and also daily 8 5mg instant realease for a total of 760mg daily. and to top it all off this is a primary care physician.

  • Jennifer Garrett Says:

I have been so impressed with Mr. Rodney King! Of all the people I’ve watched on both seasons of this show and also on Sober House, I personally believe that Mr. King will be the one to make it this time. He seems to have a real grip on his abilities and limitations as he takes this day-by-day journey. His public offering of forgiveness of and prayers for the men who beat him years ago that stirred up so much turmoil in this country touched my heart deeply. My hopes and prayers are with him as he progresses in this program. I think of these people daily and wish them all only the best.

  • Maria Says:

I just wanted you to know that since watching the show I have absolutely changed the way I look at certain things all because of Rodney. I feel like I have gotten to know him through the show and I have just been amazed at him. I watched the show where he went to the scene of his beating and when I saw that he was able to forgive those people that did such a horrible thing to him….Wow. I was just blown away. I haven’t struggled with addiction but I have carried some incredible hatred with me because of an incident that happening years ago. I was so angry at this person and I will admit that I wished them dead every day. I hoped that they had a life full of pain and misery and that they died a horribly painful death. I have never been able to even consider forgiving them. After I saw Rodney….that was so amazing to me that I knew I had to let go of this hatred I was carrying and just let it go. I prayed so hard that night that God would help me forgive (but never forget) and have some peace in my heart. I think I will still struggle with it for some time but this is the first time in 10 years that I have even considered TRYING to forgive. Thank you Rodney. You have no idea how much you have been an inspiration to me.

  • ML Says:

THANKS RODNEY. I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH SOMETHING FROM THE PAST AND A NAZI BULLY DOCTOR WHERE I WORK. I WILL TRY TO DO WHAT YOU DID, EVEN THOUGH IT WILL TAKE A WHILE, SINCE I SEE MYSELF DOING VIOLENCE TO HER AND TO THE PERSON WHO VIOLATED ME IN THE PAST.
    KEEP ON.

  • Dian K Says:

I feel the editing of Sober House is focusing too much on the drama and not enough on the members trying to make the steps necessary to transition into sober living beyond this treatment stage. They have a wonderful opportunity and only Rodney King is taking it seriously.

Sadly, I think the show as edited is hurting the sober living treatment movement. If you search youTube for the Bozeman City Commission, you will find a heated clip where residents strongly opposed the creation of a sober house in the community for the very behaviors we are seeing glamourized on Sober House.

You’ve got them off the drugs. Please don’t get them addicted to the camera. Their lives are at stake.

I think this show would be much better viewing, and still “entertaining”, if the editing was geared to showing the residents use this opportunity to the fullest. We would like to cheer these people on.

  • Angel Says:

I have been struggling with methadone addiction for about 12 years. It seems that nobody knows what to do or how to do it. If You Dr. Drew can contact me, if just for information, if nothing else i would be extremely grateful.
    Thank You

  • Crazy F***ing Bear Says:

First, to “Angel”, and anyone else battling addiction: Rehabs don’t work. Period. If you really want to get clean, go to NA. If you want to get sober, go to AA. If you want to get free from the bondage of cocaine, go to CA. Simple. Don’t just go and sit there, either, go and do the work which is required. One thing is proven to work, honestly & thoroughly working twelve steps, to the best of one’s ability. Rehabs are a scam. They exist for one purpose, and one purpose only, to make money. They are businesses. Fellowships exist to help others recover from addiction, and it doesn’t cost a dime, unless you choose to donate. In the beginning AA had a 75% success rate. Rehab centers can claim maybe 19%, maybe. Why? Because people who haven’t got firsthand experience cant teach what they do not know to begin with. In the end, don’t look to some doctor to fix you, because it isn’t humanly possible. I know.
I’ve been there. I know what works and what doesn’t. These celebrities, sorry to say, (& hopefully, maybe one or two of them will prove me wrong on this & actually make it) are destined for the dreaded “Rehab Revolving Door”… (which is how these places manage to stay in business, after all, if they “cured” everyone, they wouldn’t have any customers left, would they?!)Think about it!
This has been one Bear’s opinion.
[{ps: I'm NOT promoting anything here, simply stating facts from my own experience, have a nice day.}] :)

  • Peggy Says:

Does anyone know of an address that people can write or e-mail to the celebs on Sober House? I have been watching the show, and find it fascinating. I would like to offer support to a couple of them.

  • della Says:

Hi,I am a 34yr old mother of 3, and I’m desperate to get help for my pill addiction. I have tried several different facility’s and have had no luck, since I do not have medicl insurance & they only take people with a medical risk addiction. I guess taking pills for 12yrs doesn’t count.I would love it if you could speek with me and give me some options to geeting clean 7 a detox facility that will help me…Thank you for your time…Please, Please HELP!!!!!

  • Leslie B Says:

This message is for Rodney King - While I am charmed by everyone in Sober House - Seth stands out as one of them - I have been impressed with Rodney King above all others. Rodney, if I were to say anything, I would say that I never knew enough about your situation, but I am hopeful for you and your future. You seem like a very good person and I am SO excited that you get to start your life anew. Please know that many of us are rooting for you in particular!! God Bless.

  • Joey Says:

Just wanted Dr. Drew to hear that his show helped out a viewer whom isn’t even an abuser but the abusee. Got out of a very “WRONG” situation and because of the show I understood and learned a lot and that gave me the stregnth to stand up on my own two (2) feet and make one of the most difficult decisions in my life but have made that step a few months back and it was the best thing I ever did. There is life from being addicted to negative aura, including but not exluding any and all abuseive people. We DO NOT have to be the victim any longer. It’s ok.

  • Frank Donelan Says:

“Dr.” Drew should have his license revoked. How can he possible think that having cameras all over the place could possibly help his patients recovery. It completely takes the focus OFF their recovery, and puts it on the show itself. How this man calls himself a “caring” individual is beyond me. I think he has the public fooled because he comes across as a very level, even keeled guy that is out to help people. If he really wanted to help thses people, he would’t have a show at all. He would treat them, in a completely private setting, and not air their issues in a public setting. He claims that his show makes people aware that there are people with drug/sex addictions. Wow, I NEVER would have known that if his show wasn’t on TV. It seems that the rest of the psychiatric community looks down on him, and also believes he’s a quack. He should have just stuck to his little call in radio show, and remained at the bottom of the barrel in the world of Psychiatry and Counseling. He’s a money hungy, bottom dwelling parasite that has made his fortune, publicly, off the pain, and very private issues of sick people, who, if they weren’t at their bottom to begin with, would never expose themselves in that way. He is as bad, if not worse, then the drug dealers those people relied on to score their drugs. How can someone concerned about ratings possibly be looking out for the best interests of his patients. I don’t know how this man lays his head down at night to sleep. He’s a complete discrace to the counseling profession.
