I am 40 yrs old and I was digusted by Ice T’s comments because he is 50 yrs old and should know better and besides he didnt do anything to help hip hop then or know. His music was wack back then and it still is. He could have offered constructive criticism. Soulja boy is 17 and there is worse things he could be doing. He is young but he made alot more sense then Ice T. This is a classic discussion of art evolution across generations. This is expected and is human nature. This discussion occurs when many art forms evolve. This evolution may translate to “death” of the art to many founding fathers/mothers such as Ice-T.
Ice-T helped define hip hop. So in a sense, Hip Hop is dead because Soulja Boy is NOTHING like the music Ice-T, Public Enemy, Eric B. and Rakim, Run DMC, KRS One or any other ORIGINATORS who helped define the art. I think we all can agree on that.
