Britney: VMAs? Maybe. New Album? Yes.
Britney Spears is making a comeback; at least that is what producer Rodney Jerkins is predicting. Jerkins, who is working on Spears’ new album, slated for 2009, told Rap-Up TV, that he and the “Gimme More” singer are working on tracks that are “very dance-y, really up-tempo, in the clubs, aggressive, catchy and real hook-friendly.”
Jerkins revealed, “I’m trying some new things [with Spears]. I’ve always worked with Britney, and I love working with her. I’m trying to reinvent her and reinvent myself with her project.”
Regarding the pop star’s reported chaotic personal life,
Jerkins attests that Spears is nothing but professional to work with. “It usually takes people a long time to record songs and we just did a song,” he said. “She walked in at 8:30 and was out by 10:30 — did the whole song, in and out. I was very happy to see she’s working on the positive side, and she’s moving toward new things now. … I think it’s about to be her time again.”
Could Britney be performing one of her new “catchy and real hook-friendly” tunes at the MTV Video Music Awards this year? Well, she is definitely invited back. Van Toffler, president of MTV Networks Music Group, said, “Everyone deserves a second or third chance, right? I’m not sure how we top Britney opening the show. We are working on it every minute of every day.”
