Poprah Keeps It Real - Episode 6 - My Breaking Point
Once again, we present the always-outspoken Poprah’s take on the latest episode of I Want To Work for Diddy. In this special, from-the-heart installment of Poprah Keeps It Real, she discusses Laverne’s elimination and her team’s unwillingness to listen to her. She also fleshes out what she said on the episode about gaining weight so as to appear less attractive to music-industry predators.
Hey you guys, I’m just gonna keep this one short and to the point, because I feel this episode spoke for itself for the most part. But I do want to school you on some things that you did not see. And I’m just gonna break this down as simple as I can cuz I don’t want you guys to miss a beat, you deserve the real.
The drama in the suite at the show opening was about the fact that our team, Uptown, was shocked that no one from the Downtown team was sent home after they lost the last challenge. Everyone on Uptown, including Laverne was upset about it, but of course I vocalized it straight out, “this is f***ed up that they are still here.” I think they were all scared to say they didn’t think the decision was fair since it was Diddy’s decision.But I thought it should be pointed out because I was really hurt by it. And I don’t think Diddy wants more kiss-asses and yes-man.
Worse yet, if we had gotten a pass on elimination, Downtown would have had a freaking fit and said it was a pity move since they kept winning. Anyway, Mike starts poppin off, and I guess he thought I was gonna back down, because he was loud, but I didn’t, and then Kendra joined in to have her man’s back. Stephanie was upset with me because I pointed out she is fake as hell, just like Kendra said. Even though I don’t like Suzanne, she had been injured by a window at one of the hotels and Stephanie was partially at fault and I helped take care of Suzanne. Stephanie acted like she felt so guilty about it but then went right back to business as usual, and my point was she’s a self-centered fake bitch who didn’t even call the hospital to check on Suzanne. That’s why I knew she couldn’t understand my feelings about our team, because she really doesn’t care about anything but herself.
My concept for the challenge was to put Laverne in the window as a living mannequin, because she likes to be the center of attention and people would be intrigued by her in the window. It’s called a “draw.” If you want to have a special sale, you need a special event. That’s why new businesses pay thousands, for tents, balloons; new clubs even use huge spotlights that light up the sky. The point is to tell the world, we’re here and you need to come over here and see what’s going on. Downtown did just that and won. Our dumb team fought me every step of the way and wanted to depend on walk-in traffic off the street, which is always unpredictable. And that’s why we didn’t have enough customers to sell to. In sales you’re lucky to have a 1 percent conversion rate of people you pitch becoming customers, so you need more people to pitch to sell more. They just didn’t freaking get it, and they didn’t even consider it because it came from me, no matter how nicely I put it. They were in fear of me winning, they even told me so. Suzanne told me I was the most phenomenal businesswoman she ever met, and would be honored to lose to me. Yet she and the team fought me every step of the way even if it meant us losing.
I knew people might be taken aback by Laverne, that’s why I thought she’d be better as an inaccessible mannequin in the window. But no, my team says that it would mean she couldn’t sell. And see what happened? We had no draw to the store and Laverne didn’t sell jack. I even suggested that we have a velvet rope and free champagne (nonalcoholic of course) and those expensive little cookies like we were having a reception (since Laverne didn’t want to be in the window) and give people VIP cards to come in and buy then get a free shirt. People like free food and special treatment. My team shot that down too.
Okay, Downtown won and I have to give them their props. They had a sexy uniformed look with the all black and they did have the balloons to bring attention to the store. I’m not mad at them for using Mike’s charm and the girl’s sex appeal to sell. Too bad my team didn’t understand that we could have used Laverne similarly. But do note that, Mike is a hype man and that charm, flirting with the customers, is the same thing that pissed off Norma in the initial interview. Remember the “wink?” And honestly that’s all he’s got. He’d be a good street promoter to pass out flyers for a event, but when it comes to business decisions and intelligent conversation in a boardroom, he’s a joke, and flirting won’t get the contract signed and deals closed. Did you hear his tag line for Unforgiveable? It was something like “Smell me.” He’s not a businessman, just a hype man.
So as you saw, we lose, and Laverne is having a meltdown. She actually had three meltdowns during the challenge. Meltdown 1) She got upset and freaked out the night before the sale, because she didn’t like what she was going to wear. She wanted to wear a little mini dress but Red and Suzanne said it looked stripper-ish. I didn’t think it was that bad but maybe inappropriate for daytime in New York. I recommended she wear the white sequined jacket she borrowed from Suzanne, which was glamorous but unrevealing. Meltdown 2) When we got to the office to prepare the morning of the sale, she went in the bathroom and wouldn’t come out, crying and all, making us late to set up because she still wanted to wear the dress even though she conceded to wear the jacket the night before. Meltdown 3) She freaked out before we started the sale, saying she didn’t know how to sell, she was afraid, and didn’t know what to say even though we were versed on the product and how to market it by the manager of Sephora the day before. And she failed, miserably.
Elimination was a travesty to me because by now I was really tired of being attacked and just drained emotionally. Also Phil Robinson looks like my Dad who died when I was young and every time he speaks to me and scolds me, it feels like my dad is speaking to me through him. At that vulnerable point it was just too much, that’s why I was breaking down in tears. I realized my team was working against me no matter how obvious it was that someone else was at fault. I called Laverne a liar, because she actually said we worked well together then changed up at elimination. She even wrote a note to me after she was eliminated, apologizing. And that’s the kind of crap that was killing me. People smiling in your face, and then stabbing you in the back at elimination, then I being ridiculed for defending myself. Can you believe Red had the nerve to vote against me, saying Laverne didn’t have the chance to sell? Are you kidding? She had the chance to sell like the rest of us, but that didn’t matter because it was all about finding someone to blame, me, no matter how stupid and ridiculous it sounds. She says I have emotional baggage. Maybe so. I think we all do. But come on, she’s contemplating getting her penis removed. I think her issues are a lot deeper.
I feel Laverne is a spectacle in general, not because she’s transgender, but because she always does things to be the center of attention. She wore a shirt to the Estee Lauder meeting that should have been worn at a nightclub, boobs all out. She could have worn something business appropriate. She also does things in public places, dancing full out, walking around like she’s on the catwalk for no reason, and worse, she constantly makes sexual comments that some people find offensive, in front of anyone. What would his kids thinks if she had to pick them up from school? Diddy wants a business person, not a clown. I’m sorry but it’s true. I really liked Laverne as a person, but this was just not the job for her. She was there to be seen and she admitted it. It just finally came to light when she couldn’t deliver.
Lastly, my speech about why I’m fat was very edited, and so for clarification, I’ll say this: Lots of women are constantly approached and harassed by men sexually in business, in the music business it’s rampant. So yes, I really thought after over 10 years of dealing with that crap, that I could make myself sexually unattractive to men and then they would listen to me rather than look at me. It was maddddd stupid, I ruined a pretty damn good figure, but sometimes when you’re desperate you make dumb decisions. Now I attract men who like big girls, and jerks in the business are still jerks. Hey, you live and you learn.

I watched last nights show and would like to thank you for making all those men flinch. I held on to weight in order to fight off inappropriate male attention. I gained it eating too much., but, held on to it hoping it would make the wrong men leave me alone and like you learned that perverts like everything. I’m learning how to let God heal those hurt places and I’m coming out of it.

I watch the show every time it on. My comments is for the rest of the team, stop blaming Kim for every one elses mistake when you fail at an $_$*^!*^$!)()$_ ignment,” why”?, because she is the best person to work fo Daddy, she is a fighter and always has a plan B to fall back on listen to her and try to work as a team. I have saw her try to work with every one else, and all people try to do is throw her under the bus.

Poprah-ROCK ON GIRLFRIEND, ROCK-ON. You are the reason I watch the show. Thank goodness they have a Full Figured Black woman, who is not afraid to be herself, tell it straight up and run with the BIG DOGS. Keep standing up for yourself. You had a great idea but no one wanted to listen. This is because they already have a bad taste in their mouths about you. You are going to have to overcome this. Instead of showing the dominate side so compasion that you are only making these suggestions to help the team. Even though you are a one woman recking crew you are going to have to pull your team together even if at the end of the day this is a competition. Don’t forget to keep smiling and keep your enemies close. Remember the Trojan Horse-they never new what hit them. I know you can win this. Oh I also think it was unfair for Boris and whatever her name is to get a pass. Frankly I think the girl should have gotten the boot and Boris got lucky because he team won. Between Boris and Red one or both need to get the BOOT. I never thought I would be watching I want to work for Diddy. I am a Grandmother of 2 baby girls and I love this show. Donald Trump may have been the first but I want to work for Diddy is the best. Go Get Your Job Poprah!

This is bull, Laverne was kicked off due to no sales. Kim did not participate in the so called I could not breathe episode & in the challenge when she had to walk a few blocks she creid. I hope Diddy has a chance to read this beacause in my opinion the judges found what the want. It must be for ratings. This lazy sack of trash isn’t worth his money & time. I consider myself a `+%)!@~%^&$`$!@( talker yes but if she’s (KIM) going to talk `+%)!@~%^&$`$!@( she need to be dam good & back it up. She has no class beacause she can’t work with people. Not all the time she’s going to be able to talk ghetto to everyone. She needs to show that she’s versitile & can get the job done. Hire her and Diddy with Fire her in 30 days. Maybe that;s your intention ” i want to work for DIDDY 2″. Mark my word Capricorn or another person on Diddy’s team will take her out.

You know what I said it weeks ago. This show is a fake ~`&~&(_`)*#%$^! setup. Kim has been in front of the judges nearly every challenge. The teams scream that she is impossable to deal with. Kim is a ~!)%~_@(^##)(+~`^ and she is planted in the show. Diddy you should be ashamed of yourself this is getting way beyond obvious. Kim adds nothing to the teams. It is very clear that Mike is the one with the over all skills and talent. Kim is the weakest meanest fat ~`&~&(_`)*#%$^! on the show. They keep her on the show for her big mouth and the drama she creates. What a (^&#(%+`#`^!`~#` inf joke. Diddy you suck.

The three panel judges eliminated Laverne based on the same prejudices as the customers in the store. Her sexual orientation. How many times does Kim get a pass? Capricorn, Phil Robinson and The Great Kevin Liles, displayed the same prejudices as the customers in the store. I put the 3 panel members in the same boat as the people that won’t vote for Obama, because he’s black.

i also think that excuse for gaining weight is silly. it is an excuse. and one thing i can see about diddy is that he doesn’t really go for excuses. u don’t have to gain weight because men are lusting after u. u turn them down in a professional manner. or u make up an imaginary boyfriend. it is not hard. u don’t start eating a bunch of unhealthy food. this was the silliest part of this show….except for the fact that kim is still here. she is a cancer to her team. she may have good ideas, but she is so loud and overbearing that no one wants to listen to her. whenever she opens her mouth, its like oh $h!t, she’s about to start talking again. i think that she is a pubilicity and ratings getter like some other posters have stated.

If I have to watch her another week I am going to scream!!! All she has is a mouth. The girl doesn’t have any talents whatsoever. Laverne had a meltdown because they wanted to subject her to embarassment! She held it together very well and let’s be quite honest, it’s not easy for someone like Laverne to go out and sell perufme and not have people turn heads and laugh or point. Laverne had more qualites as an `&$#*~^(_*^@&)$ istant and getting things done more than Kim ever will! She likes to look busy, but all she puts up is bullshit! And then how about the tears about “I gained weight because people in the industry always wanted to sleep with me and didn’t respect me”, no, you gained weight because you chose to. NO `(^##&+%^)(^$$_($ ASSNESS! I need to be on this show and show them all really how it’s done!

WOW! I’m reading these comments and I’m saying to myself people really don’t get it. Call Kim what ever you want but when it come downs to it, she is always on point! At the end of the day Diddy isnt looking for the best team to hire but one individual. I don’t know about you guys but if I had to pick someone to GIT R DONE! I ‘ll pick Kim. Please don’t ever tell anybody that you gained weight to ward off men. thats a poor excuse for saying I choose to have no control over my body, just as you have no control over your emotions. If diddy is running a well oiled machine, which means communication, cooperation, self control, descipline and the ablility to close the deal at the end of the day you will fail. I don’t know what your success are however emotional unstablilty will show up sooner or later, get yourself some `~^&%_^$^#^#$`(! in tharapy and a gym then be all the `~^&%_^$^#^#$`(! you can be without any justifications. )+!+@`@~!&~@*#)^$

this show would be so much better if kim would get sent home! i don’t even dvr it anymore bc it just pisses me off seeing her on there every week. now i just watch it here and there when there is a rerun on and then i see kim on there and just think to myself how horibble it is for her team. i don’t see how anyone could hire her anywhere after seeing this show. maybe after kim watches this show she will change her behavior.

Kim, I agree with you. Yes, you are outspoken and don’t know when to be quiet, but the idea of putting Lavern in the window was excellent and you have a great concept of people’s perceptions and selling. Go girl!

Like her or not people, Poprah is the best possible candidate for Diddy. When all is done, she does have the best strategies for getting the tasks done; and she does not hesitate and is not afraid to speak up. She is FIERCE in the boardroom fighting for herself. You could see that the executives love how she fights for herself; and that’s what Diddy needs: someone to fight to the death to attain something that he may want. Poprah does that; nothing’s impossible to her, and Diddy loves that. No is not in his vocabulary. I do agree that she’s been in there one too many times, though. She must learn during the show. If she can learn all of the qualities she’s missing, she’s going to be the perfect `_~#!+__!#@_($& istant; and this is what Diddy and the others know already, too. Pope, learn humility, learn to respect what you CAN learn from others, and respect them; for no one wants to help anyone who is mean, does not respect them, and is nasty and bullyish. To have Laverne in the window as a live model was brilliant. I thought so for the exact reason Poprah did: No one was going to buy perfume from a transvestite. You all saw it! Nobody went near Laverne! She was in denial about the facts: people saw her for what she really was, a man. It was unfortunate but true, people are human. Poprah saw that. Pope, i think you can also benefit from counseling. Only because it can make you understand why you feel as if you always have to attack others; and please see one because you would learn to be a lot happier. You’re beautiful, and do not need to keep men away, using your size as a defense-mechanism. I do wish you luck. I already know you’re going to win! Believe it or not, you are a likeable person!

I actually think Poprah would be the kind of employee suitable to work for Diddy.
Although I love Laverne, I don’t think running around crazily, or rudeness would fit Laverne’s style.
Laverne needs a career in Interior Designing or planning a GALA, something above and beyond her elegant sense of patience and taste, maybe Diddy can hook her up with something or someone, I know he doesn’t have anything against transgenders, he probably has “Gay” happy people working for him today.
What I love about Poprah is that she thinks fast, her ideas and her visions are profitable and it makes sense, using Laverne in a window display was a Brilliant idea, I took it as a Wonderful comment from Poprah to Laverne , she should have posed as that Beautiful statuesque mannequin , sales might have been tremendously Over the Top and Laverne wouldv’e still been on the show and on Poprah’s good side, they would’ve worked well together given a second chance, Poprah needs a friend , she’s actually a softy, I’ve seen it, I know these kind of people you really don’t have to kiss their rear behinds for them to be nice to you, it’s automatic if encouraging words are spoken in a calm tone.
Poprah keep on fighting but be a little more understanding and open to other suggestions ….Youre not alone

I must say that I respect Poprah huslte but that attitude have to go.I feel as though Laverne should have stayed.When she was on the Downtown Team everything went really well but soon as she to Uptown it was all on her.What they doing and how they are eliminating people is not cool at all.An attitude like that won’t get you far in life.She really need to go hone and if the Team she’s on next week fails because her she damn sure needs to go because that attutide is not needed there.

The only reason Kim is still on is for the ratings, obviously. Ghetto, rude and hateful will get an entry level position in fast food or working for the local DMV, getting a kick out of being ugly to people because you have control in that minute of someone else’s need. A true professional would know that it’s ok to be aggressive because any business is results driven. People do not respond , respect, or want to help Kim be succesful because she is ignorant of basic respect, kindness and business etiquette. As an Executive Director, I recoil at the thought of meeting with Kim in any type of business setting because before she even opens her mouth she is giving off negative vibes by her posture, and the scowl on her face. Even when she tries to smile it looks like she is smelling s!@*. Kim yells and screams about how great she is and how she has the skill sets to work for Diddy, give me a break! In order to present what you have to offer, people have to be able to stomach you for more than 3 seconds….and my dear Kim, you are your own worst enemy, but I guess shows like this have to have an %))&`!+!$+^%$~) to boost ratings.

OK, so let’s face it. FATprah is only still on here for drama. These people KNOW she will NOT be hired. Anyone who cries when they are questioned about their job performance will never be hired by Diddy. It’s a shame Laverne was sent home. I thought it was nice for Mike to say she has a beautiful soul. Laverne’s track record was far better than FATprah’s. She has NO place in an organization that requires people to work together to get a job done. No wonder she has her own business, NO ONE would probably work with her. And that shizz about getting fat so people would respect her not want to sleep w/her. DELUSIONAL!!!! Business men have no more respect for fat women than they do sluts…Know your demographics fatty!!! Keep her for the entertainment value, but hire Mike at the end of the day. He fits the Sean John mold best. Does Sean John even make clothes to fit FATprah??????

Kim is sooo argumentive and she is basically still on the show because her attitude is very entertaining..lets face it..America loves drama and that $)!+_%(~*#&#!+%!@ knows how to bring it!! I just hope Diddy is prayed up and realizes “Poprah” is nothing but trouble. She could have been gone long ago. She may be pulling ratings now, cause people want to see her go. I believe if she gets the job she will pull drama and that stinkin attitude right in with her.
