Tonight is the premiere of NWA: The World’s Most Dangerous Group, the story of Eazy-E, Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, DJ Yella and MC Ren, the forefathers of West Coast hip-hop and some of the baddest boys to ever come out of Compton. Narrated by Chris Rock, the documentary features performance footage and interviews and deals with the group’s high highs, and low lows. In the clip above, the group discuss the scourge that was Suge Knight, the bodyguard-turned-terrifying Death Row label head, who once hung Vanilla Ice out a window by his feet (which, truth be told, we can’t blame him for).
And just in time for tonight’s show, we’re streaming NWA’s latest, N.W.A. Family Tree, a collection of the group’s incendiary hits, as well as songs by the artists they’ve influenced. To find out more about the band’s controversial debut Straight Outta Compton, as well as other albums that were met with extreme opposition, check out our list of the 10 most controversial albums of all time.
Be sure to tune in tonight at 11 p.m. to hear NWA’s story.
