The Real Chance of Love girl who once had her pick of the guys ended up with neither. But she’s OK with that! Below, Rabbit talks about why having multiple gentlemen callers was nothing new to her, why she revealed what she did about Risky’s brother, how Chance made her cry and why she is not to be mistaken as conceited.
Did you enjoy your time on the show?
I did till about Episode 5. After that, I was ready to go home. This week’s episode messed me up inside. The reason I said what I said about Risky is I knew she was getting ready to say stuff about me, and I didn’t want to be the girl who doesn’t stand up for herself. Also, I totally went up and down with the Real date thing. I didn’t want to go, because I didn’t want to be like Promo. I don’t do this outside of the show. I don’t need to chase dudes on the street. I’m not conceited at all, but realistically, I don’t have to do that. I wasn’t about to go on TV and degrade myself by just taking whatever someone wanted to give me. In the end, I just wanted to be a finalist and that’s what I got. I didn’t want to win because I wasn’t going to move to L.A., and Chance is totally not my type.
What would have happened if you did win?
I knew I wasn’t going to because I knew what kind of person Chance is. I liked him on the outside, but when I started getting to know him, I realized he’s too crazy. He doesn’t even try. I go so hard and he gave me 10 percent.
Do you regret telling Chance’s mother about Risky’s brother’s jail sentence?
My mother told me it wasn’t my business to say that, but I was wondering why she hid it so much. I told everyone about my mom having cancer. I’m not hiding anything. Risky told the girls about her brother, but not Chance, and if you ‘re gonna like a guy, the guy has to get to know you and know what you’re going through.
Chance eliminated you ultimately because of the Real flip-flop situation that happened so many episodes ago. How did you feel about that being dredged up again?
I knew he would use that. I know he knows exactly what happened with Real, and I know he knows I was there for him after that. But at the end of the day, someone had to go. Obviously, he was feeling Risky and Cali more so he had to make up an excuse to eliminate me. It’s like, give me a break, dude. Just tell me I’m not your type and send me home.
As conflicted as you were about the Real situation, you did enjoy his attention, right?
I did. Real and I did click a lot. I regret not getting to know him at the beginning at the mixer. Then I would have known he was more my type. Instead, I based things on Chance’s looks. That was my mistake.
Did you refuse Real’s chain because you were afraid of how it would be portrayed?
Definitely. I have a career ahead of me besides this reality show, and I didn’t want to look like a flippy-floppy. People who know me know I don’t have to do these kind of things. So I just figured I’d stick it out on Chance’s side. I did so much for that dude. None of the other girls fought like I fought for him.
Also none of the other girls fought him like you did. You called him out a lot. Was that because, by Episode 5 you checked out so you had nothing to lose?
No, that’s just how I am. I think Chance wants a girl who will go with the flow and maybe even praise him, but I’m not praising anyone who doesn’t deserve it. I know I have a lot to offer. I’m not just a pretty girl. I’m not conceited, I’m down-to-earth, I’m strong, I’ve been on my own since I was 18. I have a lot of drive. For someone to get a girl like me, it’s really good.
You often point out that you aren’t conceited, but your self-esteem seems very healthy.
It’s healthy. The reason I never want to seem conceited was because in high school, I didn’t have a lot of friends. People thought I was so pretty, but I wanted them to know that I’m just a normal girl. It eventually went around that I was conceited, so I tried so hard to make sure people didn’t think that. Now, people are like, “Oh, you’re pretty” and I just say, “Thanks,” without letting it go to my head. Sometimes the attention’s too much. I’m like, I don’t want to look like this, it’s just how I was born. What am I supposed to do?
At one point, you noted that millions of guys per day holler at you.
That was just me talking s***. (Laughs) But I can’t go anywhere without people hitting on me. Even when I have no makeup on and a hat on. It’s retarded. I even wear a wedding band and guys don’t care.
But couldn’t someone say, “The fact that she talks about this stuff at all is her bragging and that makes her conceited”?
I’m not! You asked me a question!
Where do you draw the line? What traits does a conceited person have that you don’t?
How they treat people. When guys go up to them, conceited people say, “How could you even step to me? How much money do you make?” Or just walking with a stuffy attitude. I’m very giving and loyal to my friends. I’m down-to-earth.
Although you aren’t afraid to cut someone down to size, as you did when you noted that Chance is not Diddy or Jay-Z.
And I didn’t say that because I’m a gold-digger or anything. Chance walks around like he expects girls to chase him because it’s his show, but at the same time, we were going through what he went through on I Love New York. He has to bring his head down. It’s not easy fighting with nine girls over one guy.
Are you suggesting that reality TV’s gone to his head?
You can definitely see a change from the first season of I Love New York, when he was just a normal black dude to now, when he’s become Ginuwine with the S-curl in his hair. And all he wears is Christian Audigier. It’s like, can you wear anything else? Can you pull out Kenneth Cole? Show some class? You want to be an actor in what movie? Gangsters from Paradise maybe? He needs to grow up.
It was smart of you not to get a tattoo of his name on your body.
I should have gotten Kamal against my t**ties. Maybe then I would have won (laughs). Kamal Givens, one on each breast.
Do you regret calling out the way Cali dresses? You said she dressed like a whore.
She did. She had little teeny shorts on meeting the parents. The parents. Why are you wearing a microscopic tank top?
To be fair, you weren’t wearing a ball gown yourself.
I wasn’t, I had shorts on, but I had a classy top on. My boobs weren’t out.
It just seems like we’re talking about minor degrees of difference.
I had to wear shorts because it was 150 degrees outside.
Do you resent any of the girls?
I like Corn Fed. She didn’t talk s*** about me. Risky used to be in my top friends but now she isn’t anymore so I guess she got mad about this week’s episode. Bay Bay Bay emailed me saying, “So, I’m disgusting?” All I did was put my finger down my throat. I had to do something. All the girls were ganging up on me. I wasn’t going to just sit there and not say anything. Otherwise, me and Meatball are cool. Me and Promo are cool Me and So Hood are not. She talked crap about me. She said I was hairy.
Chance agreed with her on that extra, though. What did you think of that?
I was crying my eyes out, watching it at my house. It was so mean. Everyone has hair on their face. I’m sorry I don’t have none. I’m not a hairy beast. And I have hard t**ties? When did you feel my t**ties, Chance? Please tell me.
What’s coming up for you?
I’m shooting a movie in a few weeks called Still a Teen. It’s like American Pie but the black version. I’m playing myself. Other than that, I’m just looking for roles. I might move out to L.A. I want my own show.
There’s a big stigma on seeking exposure via these shows. Was that ever a part of your agenda, being that you’re an actress?
Of course the show is experience. It’s TV and I want to be on TV. But that wasn’t the main reason. I wanted to go because I was single. I haven’t met anyone in New York who’s really boyfriend material. When I went out for the show, I didn’t know who the guy I was competing for was going to be. I thought it might be Buddha. I was hoping it would be Buddha because I figured we’d be perfect for each other. But then I found out it was Real and Chance and I was like, “F***.” Oh my god, one has long hair. One has a gap. I just had to figure that things happen for a reason.

She is a pretty girl who is very focused and has a great head on her shoulders. She is also very honest with herself and others, perhaps too honest, but that is a great quality. Some people hate hearing the truth from others and want a watered down version. From the interview, it sounds like Jessica has a lot more depth than most of the other people on this show, including both guys. Hope big things are in her future! It sounds like she is on her way. I give her mad props for that last comment and for the comment that was made about not being Diddy or Jay-Z… he had to be taken down a notch and nobody in the history of reality TV has told a guy/girl straight up that they wasn’t all that and still stuck around. Classic. I always thought Chance was annoying from the first episode of I Love NY and glad we wasn’t added back to the competition in Season 2, but he has gotten a big(ger) head.
Rabbit, you are far more intelligent, classy and beautiful than the other girls, which is why I was constantly wondering why you were even on that show. However, reading this interview made everything less ambiguous. I never believed you were a match for Chance; I thought you were above his element from the very beginning. Your social etiquette exemplifies that of a classy lady; I am very proud of your representation of Black women on television. I also think you are a bit mature for your age. Although I was very smart for my age as a young lady, I was nowhere near as mature as are you at your age. You strike me as a young woman of wisdom beyond your years, which can be a problem when seeking a gentleman suitor.
As for the Risky issue, everyone including you is forgetting that you did not just volunteer that information; Real and Chance’s mother asked you for dirt on the other girls. Instead of you going there, you only mentioned that Risky had a brother in jail. You did not bring up anything scandalous or degrading and I commend you on that. I hate that people are not thinking of this issue. Additionally, I felt that Real and Chance’s mother was quite petty too for asking such a question and then regurgitating the information as though you were the tattle tell all. I did not like that coming from a middle-aged and mother. It was quite high school.
Rabbit, the only thing that disappointed me about you was when you said Real kissed you but you did not reciprocate. On the contrary, you did kiss him back in private at the end of your date; however, at this point, that is neither here or there because I do not see you with either of them. Let God bring the man with whom He wants you to be and for sure, my young intelligent and classy beauty, you will be forever happy. My advice to you is take some acting lessons and audition for every acting job that comes your way until you are noticed. Notice that the woman who last the longest in the entertainment business and get the best roles in the movies are the ones who have taken acting/drama classes, or even better have Performing Art degrees. Nevertheless, there is no way I would use a dating show as a precursor to an acting career. I do not believe one can fall in love with someone on a reality show.
I conclude my comment to you with this, you were dismissed from this show because you had too much class and your charisma and intellect were so much that both brothers were fighting over you. Chance is a rude and obnoxious person, many people lost respect for him when he continued to disrespect you and especially when his mother asked you a question. Moreover, he continued to purposely cut you off. He did not make you look bad; he only turned women off to the point that no real woman will want him. Women are clowning over him because he has money and to have their moment on television, that is it! The way you handled the situation made me proud. You simply just let it go and that is a true woman with great etiquette.

Rabbit really was out of her element on that show; I kept wondering why she was on that type of show. I stand with you in hoping for the best for Rabbit. Thank you for your comment. I haven’t read all of your first post, but I will. In this interview with “Rabbit”, we see that Jessica is much more than your typical reality show fare. You could see that in her right away on the show. Reality shows like this one may cater to a “street” mentality of viewer, but thank goodness there are some nice ladies like Rabbit getting equal (and better) exposure. I think she will do very well! Kudos to her for being honest and a lady through it all. A few of the others on the show don’t have a clue…

Rabbit is so pretty and so classy! She is so better off now that she is away from the show! Rabbit did come across as classy in some situations; she is also career driven young lady; however, in many ways, she appears young-minded and self absorbed. Because she is so self-absorbed, she does seem to fully understand her actions. She shared personal information about someone’s family and does understand that it is not socially acceptable to do. It is not her business to share another woman’s family business.
Unfortunately, she uses “I statements” a lot. People appreciate coming up with the conclusion on their own. She constantly gives testimonies of how great she is and does not understand how this %%__+@(%#`!^@(! ociated with conceit behavior. It is important to know that you are special, but no special than the next person. Another detractor is her placing herself on a pedestal, while placing others on a steppiing stool. This is why some might think she is conceit.
VH1 has not yet produced a classy Love Show, but she felt she could find love. Their shows are mainly for entertainment and she subjected herself to VH1 reality drama, why not a classier dating show (i.e. ABC – The Bachelor), particularly since she is SO MUCH BETTER than the other girls. She disrespects guys who show she wanted to stayed on and be one of the finalist, which was for the purpose of increased exposure for herself. This action makes her come across as very self-absorbed.
She said harsh words about girls on the show and seemed surprised that they have less than friendly sentiments toward her (Young-minded).
There is another reality show that will be airing on ABC. It is about young people who believe they are in a competition for their outer beauty, but their inner beauty is being evaluated. If she watches the show, she might be able to see personality traits that she possess.
