The Celebreality Interview - DJ Lady Tribe (aka Nikki)

Never have so many remarkable personalities left a VH1 …of Love show so early! We had to get Lady Tribe on the phone to find out what, if anything, was going on in her head during her brief but wild ride on the Rock of Love Bus. Below, she talks implants, ingestion, intoxication and how she shocked even herself.

How was your experience on the show?

It was fun. I made some mistakes (laughs). A lot. I don’t remember the last half. I don’t drink a lot of hard liquor. But it’s comedy. It’s fun. My friends are like, “Oh my god, you’re so funny,” and I’m like, “I wasn’t trying to be.”

What made you decide to make your foray into drinking hard liquor on national TV?

I was just trying to forget everything that was going on in L.A. I almost didn’t make the show. My mom had surgery, she was getting a tumor taken out. I had to take care of my mom, and I missed my first flight. When I finally got there, I had so much on my mind that I was like, “I’m just gonna go crazy.” I was with a bunch of girls that I made friends with and I felt comfortable, so I was taking shots. I was just having a good time, I didn’t think about anything. Not the cameras, nothing.

You said you made mistakes. Do you regret anything?

I only regret stuff that happened off camera that only the people there know about. I apologize for that stuff.

At elimination, you seemed pretty gone.

I wasn’t there!

Do you look at that and laugh?

I haven’t seen it! I can’t watch myself on TV. I only watched part of the show. I went to a premiere party and when the show started, I ran to the bathroom. I really don’t remember being there at the end. I’m not trying to cop out, I honestly wasn’t there. Looking at the parts of the show made me say, “OK, I gotta, like, not drink ever again!”

So you learned something?

I totally did! When the camera’s on, you gotta be more aware of what the f*** you’re doing.

Do you have any recollection of the shot incident with Gia?

I was so wasted after the concert that I was sleeping. Someone woke me up to join the party, and so I started just taking those shots. I get kind of wild, I guess, you know? Not with guys always because I don’t want to look like a hoe. You know what I mean? I wasn’t the one getting the shot taken out of.

Was this anything you’d ever done before? It was extremely creative.

There were a lot of things I did on this show that I never did before. VH1 devirginized me. I’ve never been on a reality show. I’ve never been to a rock show. I’ve never been around that many girls that drunk in such a small area. I’ve never taken a shot like that before. I’ve never been to an elimination before. I’ve never done anything like that.

It’s impressive that you came up with something that could shock Bret Michaels. At this point, you figure he’s seen it all.

When I do something, I do it way out. I know it’s not always good to be like that. When I did graffiti, I’d scale buildings and I got raided big time. As a DJ, I’ve traveled the whole world. And then on this reality show, I wanted to go out with a bang. Subconsciously, I did things to stand out more. That’s probably why I put that red bikini on.

What was up with you reading your rap off STD fact sheets?

I really wanna get this straight with everyone. I don’t want people to think I have anything. Everyone got tested, you can’t be on this show without being tested, and at the test, they give everyone awareness pamphlets. All the girls knew that. I don’t know if Bret did, though. So I was like, “I need some paper,” and someone said, “It’s cool, just write on that.” I didn’t realize what I was writing on the back of, I was just thinking of how good I was going to do the rap.

When you were reading off it, were you conscious of what was on the other side?

No. Not at the time. I didn’t even think of it. We all got the pamphlet. Those were just two of eight pages. After I got off, I pointed it out. I don’t know if I told the staff or the girls. I wanted to set the record straight then, but I didn’t get to.

What about that interview where you were slurring?

I was gone! I said I didn’t to any illegal drugs. I only do legal drugs. That looked really bad because then I burped.

What does “legal drugs” mean?

Do I have to answer that?

No. Is DJing your day job?

Yes, it’s full-time. I don’t work everyday, but I travel the world and I love it. I love making music and making mix tapes. I’m getting paid for something I love to do. It’s amazing.

Overall, are you happy that you did this show?

Yeah, definitely. I like to be adventurous and I like life. But when I watch some of it, I’m just like, “OK, there are things I need to change.” I didn’t realize how I am when I get so faded. Some of my friends were really worried because on the show, it doesn’t look like I’m OK. There are things that need to be changed. I’m not sure how to go about it, but I’m glad I got to see myself in that way on TV. It was a good…what do you call that? What do you call it?

A wake-up call?

Yes! Totally!
