Anoop Desai Is Going To Geek Simon’s World On Idol
Simon Cowell may have been turned off by Anoop Desai’s nerdy appearance at his American Idol audition (”you look like you came from a meeting with Bill Gates“), but we have a feeling this guy’s going to be a contender for the top spot after checking out some of his work with the UNC Clef Hangers, an a capella group at the University of North Carolina, where Desai studies Southern Folklore. Watching this guy croon everything from Brian McKnight’s “The Only One For Me” (above) to T-Pain’s “Buy U A Drank,” it’s clear that this nerd is a heartthrob. They’re already shrieking for him at school, so just wait until he gets to Hollywood. Anoop Dogg is hot! Fire!

This kid is gonna slay American Idol! Anoop diggity is exactly what this country needs Raw natural talent and a brown brutha winning it all! This kid was born to sing! Regardless of his voice he will make 6 figures in a year with his smarts! Do it up Anoop! Your my dawg!

I’m a middle aged white lady who is on the Anoop train big time. His vocal gifts and his ease of manner mark him for great success on Idol. I wish his group didn’t have Danny in it.. but Anoop will sail on. Let’s vote!

this kid sings like a “brother” … incredible R&B style …he has the stage presence AND the talent of marvin gaye (yes, i AM that old) … if he can win me over, he can win everyone … i am a jaded 50+ year old who thinks this show is crock and fixed by the media monopolist-profiteers, but this kid CAN SING!!!! hope he wins and they stop slurring him with that ethnic stuff …

He does sing well, but I thought it was funny that Simon picked apart his “style”. When I moved here (UNC) from Cali, I remember being amazed at how geeky (not preppy) that every single frat guy from UNC dresses. The pink shirts with khaki shorts and boat shoes may be the worst outfit ever, but it is rocked almost religiously by the UNC frat societies. I’m glad that I’m not the only person who has noticed how bad the UNC guys dress.
