Below, I Love Money 2‘s latest cast-off talks about his elimination breakdown, which season he enjoyed more, his “Caliente!” catchphrase and whether he’s still romantically involved with Leilene.
Your exit was extremely dramatic.
Yes. You know, I never cry like that. I only cry when I’m happy. I was disappointed that I was leaving the show, but the crying mostly came from the fact that I was leaving really genuine people who I made good friendships with. The Entertainer is the one who took me out the first time, but coming back into it and being able to establish a friendship with him was pretty awesome. I feel like alcohol also helped a bit, too. I was shocked that they didn’t show the whole scene. I went from being sad and emotional for two minutes to being happy and positive.
You didn’t hold it against the Entertainer for eliminating you again. Why weren’t you angrier about that?
In the first episode, I told him: “I’m not a vindictive person.” I’ve seen so many bad things in my life coming from people who are vindictive or holding grudges. At the end of the day, the Entertainer doesn’t pay my bills. He was the one who had to ultimately say, “You’ve got to go home,” but he did ask the whole team. They made their decision, and I can’t be mad because they made the right decision. They kept an injured player, 20 Pack. If you kept me around, who knows what would have happened. Two hands are stronger than one.
It seemed like your alliance was pissed when the people who weren’t in it organized a counter-alliance. Didn’t you expect that, though?
I think it all comes back to us all feeling very confident. Our egos got the best of us. We let emotions come before strategy at times.
Which was more difficult: I Love Money or I Love Money 2?
I Love Money 2. You got this snake, he’s quiet the whole time and he doesn’t want to look you in the eyes. When I’d talk to Tailor Made one-on-one, he’d tell me about his life, his experience with I Love New York 2. I felt like, maybe this guy’s all right. It turned out that he was pulling things left and right and hiding stuff.
Which was a better time?
2, without a doubt. When I first saw the cast, I didn’t know what to think. We had bigger, stronger people during the second season: Buddha, T-Weed, even though he’s a yapper, Onix, an ex-pro boxer. Athletically, there was a lot more competition. I trained harder for this season, too. But when I was captain, my strategy was all in the mind.
Yeah, what was up with the Onix situation? You put him up against Prancer, giving him an impossible task, when he was supposed to throw the game for you.
All that was strategy. I knew Onix had a crush on Prancer. Did he tell us that he was going to throw the challenge? Yes. But this is a competition. At that point, we were tied up. If I put myself in, what if he decided to go against his word and we lost the challenge? I wrestle, I’m not a boxer like him.
So you didn’t trust him?
No. There was a lot of wishy-washy stuff. We heard that he had an alliance with his team, too, but he kept it hidden. Five minutes before going into that elimination, Onix was going to stay, but when we found out he was in cahoots with the other team, my team met in the bathroom and decided it was best that Onix go home. It was as team decision.
What’s up with “Caliente?” Doesn’t that mean “hot?” Isn’t “calor” the Spanish word for “heat?”
Yes, but if I was to scream out, “Calor!” that would sound cheesy. “Caliente” to me is not just something for myself, it’s kind of a feeling. My nickname on the show was “Heat,” but “caliente” can be for anyone, whether you just got a promotion at work, whether you are celebrating with your friends and feeling happy. You just got done having a great orgasm with a girl: boom, you’re feeling caliente.
Is that what you say when you’ve had a great orgasm with a girl?
Oh, absolutely. It’s such a great feeling when you just release and you’re like, “Caliente!” It’s great. I love it.
You recently did an appearance with Leilene in Hawaii. She compared you guys to Romeo and Juliet in her interview with us. Is the romance still brewing with you two?
I think she’s a great girl. I respect her. But my life right now is not focused on dating. I’m really busy with work. Yeah, I can say our bodies are attracted to each other. But mentally, you know… In terms of a relationship: no.
What’s coming up for you?
I’ve had my J.H.R. clothing line for a little over a year now, and it’s done pretty well. I have an ’09 14-page calendar. I’m still acting, but it’s tough. I’m at the point where if I do anything industry-wise, I want to host. In terms of reality TV, I’m hoping something comes up like For the Love of Caliente.
So, if you’re asked to do a hypothetical I Love Money 3, you won’t?
My gut is saying no. I don’t want to be redundant or to have people be like, “I’m getting sick of looking at this guy in this environment.” Frank and I would be major targets on the show if we did it. And I’m not desperate to be on TV. Since I’ve been on television, my dating and social lives have gotten hard. You don’t know who likes you for you. You don’t know what people’s intentions are.
