The Celebreality Interview - Brittaney Starr
The headphones, the fire hydrant, the hair soliloquies, the porn career, the pursuit of babies. These are just a few things that made Brittaney Starr stand out to the point of being a target for virtually every one of her Charm School peers. Below, the resident scapegoat talks about being ostracized, a roller-skating accident that made her value her hair that much more, empowering via porn, bathroom imprisonment and how she’s actually “a pretty normal person at home.”
Your time on the show seemed tumultuous.
Yeah, it was OK. I was disappointed not to see Sharon Osbourne. I know how 51 Minds edits and the role they insist on making me play into, and I’d never have agreed to go on another show for them had I known the headmistress wasn’t going to be Sharon. I think she’s an amazing woman and I have the highest respect for her and her family.
But not Ricki Lake?
I have respect for Ricki, but I don’t follow her. Sharon’s the coolest. I was really excited to meet her. Ricki seemed nice until I saw the show and what she said about me, which wasn’t nice of her.
Are you talking about her comment about porn not being empowering?
No! She’d barely met me for five minutes and she called me a kook.
During your exit interview, though, you did admit to being “a little psycho.”
(Laughs) You know when I was wearing the pink DJ headphones and Stryker asked me about them? I replied that I wanted to represent that I was a DJ so the world would know what I did, since the show kept making me out as the crazy ex-porn star. So they of course edited that out and just showed my “wicka-wicka” dance, when I was emulating scratching records. Watching that, I totally laughed at myself. I thought it was funny how they edited all the silly stuff together. What’s life without laughter, right?
You’ll concede that you’re offbeat, though, right?
Honestly, I’m a pretty normal person at home. I might be a little crazy when I’m out with my friends. I bought a coffee mug the other day that says, “I might be a little bit crazy, but it’s the only thing that keeps me from going insane.” I thought that was perfect for me. Love me or hate me, I’ll be me till the day I die.
Do you think the fact that you’re “labeled” as the ex-porn star on the show is endemic of the bigger picture that porn is a hard thing to live down, regardless of what you go on to do?
Let’s put it this way: I only regret that people are so judgmental. I think people should leave that to God. The God I believe in loves and accepts me exactly as I am. So, it’s like, who cares? I was single, I had fun, I picked the people I got to work with. It’s not like I went on this crazy f*** rampage and banged everybody with everything. We all got tested and used female condoms and things like that. I took it and I make a business out of it. As a producer and director, I was able to make enough money to buy a beautiful home. I have a nice car, and I put some money away to use for other businesses.
What did you think of Ricki and Stryker scoffing you for saying that part of your mission was to empower women via porn?
If a girl came to me and said, “I need money so bad, I’ll do whatever it takes,” I’m not going to film her. That’s not the right mind state. If she comes and says, “This is what I want to do with my life,” at least I can lead her in the right direction so that she does get tested and not taken advantage of or degraded or talked down to on film. Some films are totally degrading to women, but there are other ones that are pretty beautiful. There are people making love and having natural sex.
Although your Whore Wagon seems at least a little bit questionable re: empowerment.
That was sold to a webmaster. I don’t own that. I’ve sold my company and I sold the names and everything. That’s theirs, not mine. I don’t even own BrittaneyStarr.com (NSFW). I only own my MySpace.
Is it scary to have your name out there without your control?
A little bit, but even regular celebrities that are in movies and stuff, people find out stuff about them and slash them all the time. There’s nothing I can do about it. If people want to talk bad, they’re going to talk bad. You just have to roll with it.
How do you feel about being treated the way that you were by the girls on this show?
I think it spilled over from the first show. I think because of the editing, the other girls had seen only what VH1 showed me as from the first show, so they already had their opinions of me. I really liked So Hood and Ki Ki. I thought Bubbles was a really nice girl. Like me, she’s a nice person and she gets picked on. I think it’s funny that because I was nice and talkative, the other girls wanted to say that I was fake. That doesn’t make sense to me at all. I’m fake because I try too hard to be nice? I’m nice until you push me too far. But don’t get it twisted: I can fight, but I only fight the right way. If Beverly or Farrah or anyone else wants to fight me, let’s take it to the ring. Seriously. We’ll get a ref and we’ll go at it.
Did it break you down at all?
The bathroom thing did a little. At first, it was funny. They were throwing hot dogs underneath the door and saying fat jokes. I was taking the hot dogs and throwing them at the cameramen outside the window. But then 30 minutes go by. I sat down on the floor and stretched and meditated. I was starting to get thirsty. When you turned on the sink at that house, brown water would come out for a minute before it became clear, so I was afraid to drink the water. After an hour, I started to get a little claustrophobic, a little freaked out. It just wasn’t funny to me anymore. The first thing I saw was a fire extinguisher. I’m trained to look for things in a room that you can use to defend yourself or get out of a situation with. So I took the extinguisher and I started breaking down the door. By the time I was about to break down the door, they say K.O came and unlocked it. I was spraying the thing and it was going everywhere. It’s kind of silly once you see it on TV. I took it with me to bed because I was like, “If this bitch starts with me, I’m going to spray her right in the face with it.”
That was hilarious because it was like, how many more things can Brittaney Starr keep in her bed? Socks, food, fire extinguishers…
I was just sick of people coming up to me. Before we even got there, Beverly tried to choke me. She grabbed my hair, too. And here’s the thing about that: yeah, I cried a little bit because she yanked some of my hair out. I’m not a p****. If you knew what I’ve gone through with my hair, you’d understand.
What did you go through?
My hair used to be past my jeans pockets. It was so long and natural. My hair has always been my favorite feature besides my eyes. I’ve been growing it out since the 3rd grade. I was roller-skating recently at a rink and a kid fell in front of me. So as not to fall on top of him, I jumped out of the way and as I was falling, the skates of another skater tangled in my hair and its wheels ripped out part of my hair up to my shoulder. It was all uneven, some short some long. It was awful. I had to get a lot of my hair chopped off, which devastated me. Now that I have it to where it’s all almost even, this bitch comes up and tries to pull it out again! It freaked me out. All those emotions from having my hair torn out before started to well up inside me. She said, “I’m gonna pull out her nappy-ass weave,” but it’s never been a weave and that’s the point! If it was a weave, it would just yank out and then there you go. You can have some of my weave.
Beverly said her anger stemmed from…
She said I talked s*** about her kids! I never did that and I never stole her bed.
But you did say that she was a lousy mother.
I did! And I believe that still today. When she was talking to her kids on the phone, she started to cry and I said, “That’s really heartfelt. You seem like a good mother.” She said, “Don’t you f***in’ talk to me! I have nothing to say to you!” Then she throws water and cookies at me and sprinkles them all over my things. I go, “Ooh, I retract that statement. Is this the kind of example you want to set for your kids? Throwing things at someone you have a problem with?” Plus, I don’t think a mother should be away from a three-year-old for more than a week. They need their mommy. I thought it was a bad thing for her to be going on the road to meet some rock star.
She did seem to target you particularly ruthlessly.
I was minding my own business when she got up in my face. When cameras go on, people do act a little bit differently. I think a few of these girls, honestly, would be my friends in my personal life if I met them at a nightclub or something. But when the cameras are on, and people are begging for attention, they act a certain way. Me, I was just going about my business, but that’s hard when everyone’s attacking you and making you out to be this crazy person. They pushed me to be crazy! But I didn’t feel my life was threatened, so I didn’t feel the need to completely fight back. Just a little bit. I didn’t need to knock Beverly out or hurt her in any way.
It seemed on the first episode that you had accepted some responsibility for your failure to get along with the girls. Do you still feel that way?
I think I was set up to be the victim. When we got psychologically analyzed, I think they figured, “Oh yeah, she’ll get picked on because she did porn.” Or because of this or that. Maybe I was too mature enough to delve into the drama, so the girls think I’m fake or ignoring them. Or maybe my reactions let them think I’m an easy target. But if I were so clinical, you’d think the psychologist would have committed me, and not let me do reality TV.
It was sad when you had to sleep in the locker room.
K.O was really drunk and she poured water in my bag and on my stuff, and I didn’t want it ruined. So I just moved in there so my stuff wouldn’t get ruined.
The Real Chance of Love girls, after initially befriending you, turned against you…
It’s just a big game we’re playing to win $100,000. We have to turn against each other. That’s the point of the show. I just kind of take it as that. They had to figure out a way to not be my friend to get me on the show. Whether it was then or a week later, it was going to happen regardless.
What are your thoughts on Ashley at this point?
I do not like Ashley. I think she’s a two-faced, fake person and I don’t think she’ll ever change, even if she says she did on Charm School. I think she’s exactly how she is on the show in real life: a mean girl.
You mentioned several times on the show that you’re interested in having kids. Is that still a goal of yours?
Heck yeah! My man and I are still together, and as soon as we get married, I’m going to have some babies.
You sound upbeat when talking about this show, which is reassuring. I was worried all the bullying had broken you down.
Oh, I’m not gonna let something silly like a reality show get to me.
Keep up with Brittaney Starr via her MySpace.

Shes blaming Editing yet again. How surprising! She needs to start taking responsibility of all her fights. Here she is again playing the victim like she had nothing to do with the fights at all. I’ve seen her talk smack. Don’t play like you are innocent. Glad no one likes her.
June 8th, 2009 at 2:34 pm
Glad this crazy )*_~#^`!@#_&^(!*_ was eliminated. She still doesn’t accept her being a psycho )*_~#^`!@#_&^(!*_ Editing doesn’t work unless you give them ammunition. Dumb broad!
June 8th, 2009 at 2:37 pm
She thinks everyone is fake but her? That makes no sense. But then again she is a nutcase who thinks she never does anything wrong. Brittaney seems to be the most disliked girl for a reason and this interview proves that. She doesn’t seem to have many fans either.
June 8th, 2009 at 2:41 pm
OMG! Everything she does she excuses it as editing. She needs to stop using that as an escape goat. EVERYTHING YOU DO IS NOT THE EDITINGS FAULT. You still come to eliminations with headphones on. That is crazy and attention seeking regardless. Someone please lock her up in an institution.
June 8th, 2009 at 2:47 pm
“Let’s put it this way: I only regret that people are so judgmental”
Didn’t she judge Beverly on being a bad mother? HYPOCRITE!!
She is certifiable…
June 8th, 2009 at 2:53 pm
this girl is crazy no doubt
..yeah blame everything on editing riiiight the camera men didnt tell you to look like a freak with headphones.

June 8th, 2009 at 4:54 pm
So she thinks Beverly is a bad mother because she supposedly threw food all over Brittaney’s belongings? WTH? I highly doubt Beverly would do that unless Brittany said something offensive. I hate this _($(^(((*^@^^$(@^
June 8th, 2009 at 5:05 pm

June 8th, 2009 at 6:26 pm
well, I think she left a better impression of herself after this show than she did after rock of love. so… that’s progress, I suppose.
June 8th, 2009 at 7:23 pm
Brittaney Starr, you need to cowgirl up and accept responsibility for your own portrayal. If it looks like a kook, and acts like a kook, hey, guess what… it’s gonna be labelled a kook. At least Ashley is honest about who she is and what she does. More power to her.
June 8th, 2009 at 8:04 pm
ya u guyz r right she iz a %$!+!**_#@`($@&)~ that thinkz shez innocent and i like the way beverly pulled her hair and the way bay bay bay went up 2 her that waz funny well and brittaney starr got happy when the old fart reconized her she got horny becuz she could never get %)`*#$*)*+*(!`~! ed
June 8th, 2009 at 8:43 pm
Brittney, you are a beautiful woman with a good heart! Don’t ever change!
Ignore all the haters!
They’re just jealous!
They wish they could look like you!
You look like an angel!
Some day, you are going to be a REAL STAR!
And, everyone is going to feel sorry about treating you so badly! Especially, since you didn’t deserve!
Ricki Lake is a fat cow and just jealous!
June 8th, 2009 at 11:13 pm
I was kind of surprised by this interview - Brittaney makes some good points about the show and overall comes across as a pretty likable person. I’m interested to see what lies in her future.
June 8th, 2009 at 11:27 pm
I’m so glad they got rid of her fat ^#~@@+*$&!)(^@! She was a disgrace to that show. She stated that she was way older
than those teenie boppers. Funny thing is those “teenie boppers” are way more mature than she is. She needs to start acting her age, not her shoe size as baybaybay said. In my opinion she acts lower than her shoe size.
June 8th, 2009 at 11:33 pm
“I’m trained to look for things in a room that you can use to defend yourself or get out of a situation with.”
…um…?!?!?!?!?!
June 8th, 2009 at 11:46 pm
“No! She’d barely met me for five minutes and she called me a kook.”
Ricki said that in the interviews which is done after the show is complete. I thought someone like her would know that. Ricki called her kooky after she got to KNOW HER. Don’t be a liar Brittaney! Hell. I bet she doesn’t even tell half of the truth most of the times.
She told Beverly to hit her and she has a right to complain about being the victim? I’m sorry but if you literally ask for it, you deserve it. Don’t act like Beverly went out of nowhere and decided to pull your hair for no reason. Brittaney is a skank!
June 9th, 2009 at 12:16 am
I’ve always liked brittany starr. i hated the way they treated you, but sadly, alot of them will never change. Ashley is trully a bad person. a bad. person. thank god Brittany got to go home and not lose her dignity.
June 9th, 2009 at 1:21 am
lol i actually like brittaney. i think she’s really funny and she doesn’t take this show as seriously as everyone else. When Brittaney Starr is on i actually laugh out loud sometimes. when bay bay bay is screaming at bubbles i just want to turn off the tv. go brittaney and i hope to see her on i love money 3
that would be hilarious as long as she doesn’t get eliminated the first night.
June 9th, 2009 at 3:03 am
i never could stand u. ur so @*&$`~%~_!~*++%+ in annoying and ur a fakeass.
June 9th, 2009 at 12:04 pm
I feel you Brittney…Stay up!!!
I love VH1 but they are promoteing bullying!
Allowing any of the ladies to be bullied is totally wrong!!!
Teen suicide is on the rise!!! Mostly teens watch this show..and No bullies have been eliminated yet?? WHY??Because Bullies get rateings…SMH…
How would Ashley, Farrah and Spit-Tanya feel if their children were treated the way Brittney was treated??
Karma is a MOFO!! All the ladies of CHARM SCHOOL need to learn how to treat people!!!
June 9th, 2009 at 12:55 pm
Not even once Brittany star don’t put blame on herself, She don’t think before she speaks and thats why she get into alot of drama with everybody.
June 9th, 2009 at 2:00 pm

Dear Vh1,
I would highly appreciate it if there was a feature that happend to run each comment through a spell check before being able to submit it. I am aware that most of your viewers and unintelligent and under the influence, however I would like to not be aware of this while I read.
June 10th, 2009 at 1:50 pm
Wait, didn’t Brittaney Starr raise her hand at the ROLB reunion to say that she had gotten married since the show? Was that a lie?
June 10th, 2009 at 4:04 pm
OH EM GEE I hate this effin lady.. shes soo fake i mean listen to her stories.. IM soo glasd she got voted out and she does need to accept the fact shes a physco and a freak!! listen to the girls in the house for crying out loud.. and im glad Ashley and Farrah locked her in the bathroom
June 11th, 2009 at 7:44 pm
If anyone was fake, it was that K.O. Pouring liquid on someone’s property is mean. She didn’t have the balls to do that to another girl. Brittaney should have never slept in the locker room and instead should have insisted that lush Marcia stay out of her bed.
June 11th, 2009 at 11:27 pm
Brittaney did not bother me. She didn’t appear to fit in, but that is not necessarily a bad thing with this cast. Since we see about 1% of what is actually filmed, she is in a better position to say it was edited to look a certain way. Other expelled cast have said the same thing. BBB horning in on her phone call was very immature. And any woman who insists over and over she is a “grown ^~@!`^_($__^_@* woman” is not very grown up.
June 15th, 2009 at 5:34 pm
You know what??? At least she doesn’t sound bitter and angry like everyone else who’s been eliminated. She actually seems like a nice person and so what if she did porn in the past?!! We all do what we have to do to get by from time to time. These girls on the show who put her down are strippers, or they take nude photos, or they have “sugar daddies” who support them. Come on now, none of them are any better. All the others who brag about their so called education and act holier than thou are still in the same position as Brittany the Crazy Ex-Porn Star… they are still just a character on reality tv. Brittany sounds like a happy and nice person who knows what she wants out of life. I don’t think she is trying to play a victim at all, the girl did get picked on and targeted. At least she’s not crying about it. As for her calling Beverly a bad mother, she explained how and why she said that. I don’t think she was being judgemental, I think she was just pointing out the obvious. Stop hating on Britanny Starr!!!!
July 18th, 2009 at 12:28 am
I don’t why people are giving b starr advice on how to take responsibility and to clean up their act when it be the same people that are getting arrested for financial fraud or drugs or more. you people probably be getiing beat up all the time and talk #%_#*)&~++##$$`# on the net, Bullys get what they deserve and the people that talk bad about others get they desreve too. Its always the picked on victim that get trashed by these dumbasses
on here but you probably got no education ur damn self and never made it in life.
