VH1′s Official Statement On Megan Wants A Millionaire

Ryan Jenkins was a contestant on Megan Wants A Millionaire, an outside production, produced and owned by 51 Minds, that is licensed to VH1. The show completed production at the end of March. Given the unfortunate circumstances, VH1 has postponed any future airings. This is a tragic situation and our thoughts go out to the victim’s family.

Update: We’re sad to announce that both Megan Wants a Millionaire and I Love Money 3 officially have been canceled.

This is so ridiculous

I think that you should at least offer the remaining episodes on DVD & have a portion of the proceeds go to a worthy cause in the name of Jasmine Fiore. Maybe donate part of the DVD sales to a domestic abuse organization? I know that any group would appreciate the donation. Or perhaps to a foundation for aspiring models?

tammy August 20, 2009 at 2:21 am

I think postponing the show is the right thing to do. Good for you, VH1 for opting to put the victim and her family ahead of the dollar.

I enjoyed the show, but could not stomach watching it, knowing what this man could be “allegedly” capable of doing.

What happened to Jasmine is tragic. My heart goes out to her family and we should all respect VH1′s decision to put the victim’s family first.

You know what? How about we skip every episode and Vh1 just plays the finale? Is that fair? Apparently Ryan doesn’t make it to the finale. Or he makes it to the final three. If the final three is part of the finale then cut the part with him in it. I don’t care. Condense the whole show into one episode and leave him out of it. Whatever. Just do something.

Seriously. I just want to know who my girl ends up with. Is that too much to ask?

Personally, I could care less about this model. Yeah. That’s right. I’m a very cold-hearted, vindictive little b**ch. So what? Two people die every second. Around three to four babies are born every second. This model just happened to be one of the victims of the cycle of life. I like my reality TV and Megan Wants a Millionaire was the best out there. I could really care less about this model girl who apparently couldn’t tell that she was in an abusive relationship.

My prayers go out to Megan and Lily. I hope that beautiful angel is okay and Lily isn’t too overwhelmed.

To all of you complaining about VH1 pulling the show, GET A @!(^@_(`(_@)`$@! ING LIFE! A woman is dead, and her family and loved ones have to deal with the fact that she was butchered and stuffed into a suitcase like garbage. Before you complain about not having anything to watch on Sunday night, take one brief second to think about how you would feel if you found out your sister, your mother, your daughter, or your friend was slaughtered for no reason. Then imagine what it would feel like to see her (alleged) murderer parading around like a rich douche-bag on a reality show. Honestly, I’m appalled so many people are griping about VH1 pulling the show from the air. Have some @!(^@_(`(_@)`$@! ing respect for human life and appreciate the fact that you’re even alive to watch TV.

Benafsha August 20, 2009 at 2:40 am

The entire show was irrelevant… now its finally interesting.

Fortunately, a girl like Megan has been able to turn over enough slimy rocks to actually find a group of losers so embarrasingly devoid of substance that their presence actually elevates her personna.

Everyone in America should see the type of guys their daughters should never be allowed to meet, let alone date or marry.

Becky August 20, 2009 at 2:45 am

Well that sucks! Just stuff him in a suitcase and get on with the show!

Equil-Scrutiny August 20, 2009 at 2:49 am

First I would like to send my deepest condolences to the family in which this tragedy has affected. Although this is a very bad situation, I find a sense of guilty pleasure in the fact that everyone has already convicted this caucation man before he is even a suspect. Dont get me wrong, I think that it is not the “American-way” to go about it in this manor, or any case for the most part; but I do see patterns in the way the mainstream media depicts Blacks in high profile cases this exact same way. Its not right either way; but its good to see VH1 and others demonstrate “Equil-Scrutiny”. P.S. It looks as if VH1 will not post my comment. I watch all these reality shows & news channels, so I know what the f*@! im talking about!! Take That- Take That…

B. Bo August 20, 2009 at 3:04 am

They should cut him out of the show, every little part with him in it just cut it, or blur him in group shots, put a disclaimer on the front of the show explaining that it has been edited or reshoot the show with new guys! I wish he got kicked out earlier.

Arma August 20, 2009 at 3:11 am

This show sucked from the get go, they should have called it (Drunk gold digging Ho looking for a rich sucker to steal his money), they gave this Dumb blond ho a show because Sharon Osborne cold ^(&^!+#@$^#&&~#* ed her for talking `+_%^!&`^$&!$@($ about Ozzy.So most likely the ho threaten to sue VH1 so to shut this Ho up they gave her a show and thought oh she is cheap and a ho hmm, reality show ,cha ching… Megan is a low life triffin Ho. You are nasty and personally I think that you did not deserve to have a show. but then again it goes to show it’s not who you knew, it’s who you blew… Ho. your nothing but a high priced Hooker, Get a real job Hooker or was that you I seen with my buddies over in la jolla beach street corner , all nasty lookin,VH1 did the right thing, they cleaned there mess

Mason August 20, 2009 at 3:12 am

This is absolutely ridicolous! I understand why they are doing this. But Ryan has not even been proven guilty yet, and their on the verge of canceling a show that has no link what-so-ever to the murder of that poor girl.

God Bless To Her & Her Family.

Ray August 20, 2009 at 3:17 am

Can’t imagine why this should stop the show, unless he’s the one that actually ended up with Megan. Just edit him out of the show.

If she’s still looking for someone, have her give me a call. ;-)

Choices August 20, 2009 at 3:20 am

I can understand why they pulled the show. Whether innocent or not the shows flow depends on not knowing where or what the contestents are doing until after the show, and it probably has something to do with protecting the channels image which is understandable. Right now it is more important to find this guy and ask what he many know before airing anymore footage with him in it. I do agree that the fans of the show deserve to know the ending if at all possible, but maybe they should just start the whole show over again since it really was not that far along in the first place.

Randall Baxter August 20, 2009 at 3:21 am

definitely glad that vh-1 showed immediate class by canceling the airing of the show..eventhough i love watching it somethings in life matter more than entertainment..prayers to that poor womans family.

Sue August 20, 2009 at 4:33 am

It is so sad that on the very day that the tragic news breaks that a young woman has been murdered, the main concern to people is this reality show’s airing. These shows are for entertainment, and most of the people that get on them are more concerned about beating out the other contestants and making a name for themselves, not finding love. As we remember, this guy mentioned needing to be married to work in the U. S. or something to that affect. Now they say he married this girl after just a few days. Who knows what else will come out on this.

I can understand being curious about who Megan chose, as I am also, but in light of the circumstances, I can certainly understand at least a freeze on it for now.

lex August 20, 2009 at 4:33 am

People are you seriously complaining about not getting to see the end of a reality show? Yes this was my guilty pleasure too, but clearly they couldn’t just edit him out. And if he did have some involvement in MURDERING his wife (or ex) it would be deplorable to show him on television. Imagine flipping through the channels and seeing the killer of your friend or family, you would be enraged. If that doesn’t mean anything to you then consider it from a business point of view, if vh1 continued to air the show they would be accused of capitalizing on the murder. We’ve all sat in traffic because cars slow down when a bad accident happens, we can’t not look, and I am willing to bet that the sensationalized media coverage would be enough to bring in a few hundred (thousand) new viewers. No one would admit their morbid curiosity, but it would happen. These shows are already likened to a train wreck, you just can’t look away. The result would be a negative view of vh1, they would be abhorred for profiting from a crime. As a result future shows would suffer. But that isn’t why they SHOULD pull the show, they should pull because murders are forever ingrained to culture almost to the point of glorification and why would you want to perpetuate that. Remember when they showed the Virgina Tech kids video? Giving him the “glory” he wanted? The public outcry was to never show the footage again, the media made apologies. COME ON PEOPLE SHOW SOME CLASS!!!

Sammy August 20, 2009 at 5:50 am

Good bye Vh1

Nicole August 20, 2009 at 8:52 am

This is BS. Bring this show back. F VH1

grace August 20, 2009 at 9:10 am

First thing Megan needs instead of a millionaire is some real hair of her own. Stop with the fake hair and just grow your own. In Sundays show the show the back of her head and you can tell her real hair is only about four inches long. And the color! I could do better with a box of color from Walmart. She looks like cheap trash!

jodi August 20, 2009 at 9:53 am

i understand cancelling the show. even though i hate megans better than everyone else attitude, i watched the show every week. i was wondering if vh1 does background checks on these people. apparantly this guy has a record for domestic violence already. just seems a simple check on the guy and they wouldn’t be in the position they are in. i watch all vh1 reality shows. i wouldn’t want them to nix them altogether but i hope from this point on they are more careful about who they pick.

Melissa August 20, 2009 at 10:01 am

TANI and All you other SORRY PEOPLE need to grow up. Megan was a great person nobody deserves to be murdered point blank.

chuletas August 20, 2009 at 10:14 am

I’m pretty sure magan will get another show, I will be waiting…

Poor Jasmine August 20, 2009 at 10:16 am

Wow…was this guy also on “I Love Money 3″?!?!?!?!? Holy F-Balls! That poor poor girl, Jasmine!!!! I am so sorry for her family. What a terrible, horrible thing to happen. Thank you, vh1, for taking this show off the air, I found it offensive in the first place.

stephanie August 20, 2009 at 10:25 am

thank you god that show is cancelled it was the stupidest show vh1 ever produced and a waste of money.

marie August 20, 2009 at 10:25 am

Are you serious? People are complaining because they did not get to see the end of the show? This says a lot about the lack of human nature our society has toward one another. Who cares what Megan wants, I doubt any of those idiots on the show even had money. Did anyone ever do a background check on these guys? Why would any young woman want to put herself in a situation with 10+ strange guys whom she doesn’t know anything about. Oh that’s right, because young women today don’t have morals, values or respect themselves. It’s all about “trying” to become famous by being a #_$`*__!(`(~)*$#^ or an idiot. We should focus on good positive influences for our children not self absorbed, plastic sluts.

stephanie August 20, 2009 at 10:25 am

thank you god that show is cancelled it was the stupidest show vh1 ever produced and a waste of money.and now we can get better shwows on sunday night WOO-HOO!
