Paula Abdul To Host VH1 Divas, Jordin Sparks Added To Performer Lineup

5 love this news. I certainly hope that 2009 VH1 Divas
is a huge success for Paula and friends.

Will they give her a coca cola sippy cup complete with straw to sip on as she hosts?

In response to the comment about “High School Divas” Kelly Clarkson is the oldest of this year’s Divas. She is 27. Even Jordin Sparks is almost 20. The only one of High School age is Miley Cyrus.

divas ????? give me a break, how about teens / young woman with one or 2 songs. i thing vh1 can do better than that. but call it something else after all it’s a fundraiser for music. than you can line up anyone. the ” divas” should and could mean something if they let it.

REALLY…DIVAS…do we even know what a Diva is anymore? We think Mariah or Beyonce but aren’t these performers all played out for a show as big like this. If there are only 3-4 Divas, well you can’t have them on the show “every single time” Its gets old. Being in some knew “possible” future Divas, yes…but do it responsibly. Miley Cyrus….you are kidding, right? you are going to stack Miley against past performers of Mariah?
And Jordan Sparks has just lost her last baby tooth–OH MY…YUK!

I didn’t watch this show before, but out of the list, PAULA is the biggest star. She will make it worth watching, even though we’ve been dealt some crappy “divas”. It should have been called desperate wannabe divas! I can’t stand Jordin Sparks either. I can even stand Miley better than Jordin.
I also agree that the REAL divas should have been on this show. People like Mariah, Whitney, and even throw in some of the older Divas like Diana Ross or even some country divas who have crossed the charts.

So… confused> Not gonna be a hater let’s face it Miley sales are ridiculously high and she has huge fan based, but Diva?? Celine Dion, Cher, Whitney, Mariah, and Miley wtf. Thats like takin Elvis, Michael Jackson, Beatles, and Jonas Bros. Lets be real even if it was future divas of tomorrow, there shld be a require note a singer must be able to hit not just who’s hot right now. Leona Lewis is nxt Mariah(british version) even Jordan who’s annoying can blow and Kelly Clarkson and Adele is a musical breath of fresh air. Why not throw Lady GaGa,Rihanna, even Katy Perry in the line-up at least they have some range. What abt Christina Auguilera, Beyonce, Jennifer Hudson Hellooooo VH1 that”s diva material!

Are you serious VH1? Are you serious? Miley Cyrus? Miley. Cyrus. I have never been more ashamed of music than I am today. That little girl cannot even carry a tune. She can’t hold a candle to the Divas I know. Celine Dion? I’d love to see her duet it with her, or say, Aretha Franklin. For shame world.

I’m really disappointed in this shows line up. I think overall, I’m ok with having some newer artist on the roster but there is by no means anyone in this list that has the credentials to be there. Where is Mariah? Where is Whitney? They both have new albums coming out and have a MUCH larger audience and sell A LOT more records than a lot of the artist on the show. What about Reba? She has the number one album in the country according to Billboard!!! Please VH1, don’t kill the class this show once held.

They should rename this to Pop Princesses or something…How the heck is this a diva show, when none of these singers are divas. The only person who comes close is Kelly Clarkson Really where are the real divas of our time Beyonce, Alicia Keyes, Christina Aguilera, Avril Lavigne? This is very sad.

I think the best diva is is Janet Jackson who should be called the queen of pop. nobody is better than her, she is following in her brothers footsteps. the king of pop Michael Jackson rest in peace. she always puts on a fantastic show where non of her dancers are ever out of place. she a great artist. lots of love to u paula

Let me begin my saying this: those kids need you. You cannot fully comprehend until you have been treated like that yourself (how Simon treats them) that those kids are HURTING just as you were. They need you. I’m sorry that I embarrassed you last summer by interacting sexually in front of you with your man in front of everyone. I couldn’t stop myself, but to act like it meant nothing and to try to get involved with him afterwards when I had s pretty good understanding of why you left that show. And to never reach out to you? I like Ryan and not Simon. You obviously went through a great deal of pain and had some real issues over what was going on behind the scenes. I never saw your pain and was oblivious to it and was calloused and inconsiderate and would have spared you the grief if I could. Divas, Paula? Really. Pumpkin, you deserve so much better than that. Go back to Idol and talk to them about the problems both on and off the set. Acknowledge to them your own shortcomings and try to work out a better deal. But Paula, American Idol cannot survive without you - you provide those kids with some encouragement and make clear to them how you feel about Simon’s biting remarks. You are sweet to them. While I realize that some people say that you are too soft on the contestants, listen to me Sweetheart and try to understand: Simon makes them feel so hideously about themselves and they would be scarred for life were you not softening the blows. Let the producers -both of them know that. I am sure you know this, but when my mother told me that I couldn’t sing, and I was the only one in my whole sixth grade classroom that tried out but didn’t make it, I stopped singing for 6 years. You have no idea what you mean not only to that show, but to those contestants as well. No one is going to want to appear on American Idol if you are not there. And everyone will feel so much empathy for what is being done to those contestants,that no one will want to watch anymore. This is my curse: go back to the show and be with Simon and have a good life as a judge on American Idol and I will never be on that program. That is yall’s show and not mine. You all have made it clear how unwelcome my presence would be. Have a nice time on American Idol. I wanted Ryan and not Simon - always.
