Sex Rehab With Dr. Drew - Peep The Full Cast
The latest Celebrity Rehab spin-off, Sex Rehab with Dr. Drew, will tackle the mostly unexamined world of sex addiction. It debuts Sunday, Nov. 1 at 10/9c. More details are in the press release below, and after that, get a look at the cast of the show on set…
VH1, Dr. Drew and Irwin Entertainment have expanded their documentary series on addiction to examine one of society’s most taboo topics, sex addiction, in the upcoming series Sex Rehab With Dr. Drew. The series is set to premiere on VH1 on Sunday, November 1 at 10pm.
Addictions are nothing new, and most people are aware of those involving alcohol, drugs, and eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia, but few know about and understand sex addiction. It afflicts roughly 3%-6% of the American population, and just like other addictions, its impact on personal lives can be devastating. The affliction can wreak havoc on the mental and physical health of those afflicted as well as destroy marriages, families, careers and even finances.
Dr. Drew and a team of the nation’s foremost experts on sexual addiction will guide eight patients through an intensive state of the art program. Living together for 21 days, they’ll meet with Dr. Drew in daily one-on-one and group therapy sessions in order to get to the root of their compulsive behavior.
Dr. Drew is a highly respected practicing MD, is board certified in addiction medicine and assistant clinical professor of psychiatry at KECK USC School of Medicine, who will once again give viewers an unflinching look at exactly how the rehab process works and what it feels like for participants. Dr. Drew hopes to use his patients to humanize the process and show viewers that treatment is a viable way to break the cycle of addiction.
Beginning Monday, October 26 fans can catch a sneak peek of the season’s first episode on VH1.com – one week before the on-air premiere. Subsequent episodes will be available on VH1.com the morning after they air. Additional video content from Sex Rehab With Dr. Drew including extras from each episode will be available on VH1.com and on VH1 Mobile throughout the season.
Sex Rehab With Dr. Drew is executive produced by John Irwin and Bruce Toms for Irwin Entertainment. Dr. Drew Pinsky and Howard Lapides are also executive producing. Jeff Olde, Jill Holmes, and Noah Pollack are executive producers for VH1.
(FYI, that’s marriage/family therapist Jill Vermeire in the shot above with Dr. Drew.)
The eight Sex Rehab patients (along with some biographical info on them) are below…
Jennifer Ketchum (aka Penny Flame) – Porn actress / Director / Business woman
Jennifer Ketcham, 26 years old (former adult star known as Penny Flame) is now pursuing a writing career and life in production behind the lens. As an adult performer Jennifer climbed to the top winning over 5 awards and directing educational guides for Vivid. Jennifer still owns her adult website PennyFlame.com (NSFW, duh) and directed and produced all the content on there. Her latest venture has been a confessional blog documenting her struggle to move away from her adult film life as Penny towards becoming Jennie. Taking everything she learned from the show she has remained sober and has been enjoying all the beauties sobriety has to offer.
James “Jamie” Lovett – Surfer / Wakeboarder
James Lovett is one of the world’s top rated surfers and wakeboarders. Lovett, who started surfing before the age of 10, was perfecting aerials at the age of ten. At 14 years old Lovett turned professional and has since dominated the sport winning countless competitions and medals. In 2004, at the age of 17 years old, Lovett climbed his way to the top of the wake surfing when he won the Centurion World Wake Surfing Championships.
Nicole Narain – Model / Playboy Playmate
Soon after becoming Playboy’s Miss January 2002, she appeared in music videos from the likes of Diddy, Mario Wayans and Jermaine Dupri. She’s also appeared on Entourage, Mad TV and American Heiress. She reached a new level of exposure when a sex tape featuring her with Colin Farrel leaked. “That pretty much ruined my life,” she says. Lately, she has been focusing on writing. “I’m ready to purge,” she reports.
Kari Ann Peniche – Beauty queen / Model / Fashion designer
Kari Ann was Miss Oregon Teen USA 2002, competed at Miss Teen USA 2002, won Miss Oregon United States 2003 then went on to win Miss United States Teen 2003. In Nov 2004 she appeared in Playboy. Along with various movie roles, Kari was briefly engaged to Aaron Carter. Her upcoming book, Stripped, Strung Out, and Beautifully Abused, focuses on sexual abuse, domestic violence, power, control, relationships and goals. Her clothing line is Strung Out Girl.
Kendra Jade Rossi – Ex-porn star / Music manager
During her years in the porn industry, Kendra became a well known adult film star. However, she also became tabloid fodder. (Star magazine and Us Weekly accused her of breaking up Kevin Federline and Britney Spears marriage after a trip to Vegas, for example.) She finally left the adult film industry in 2001 on the verge of a complete breakdown. She fell headlong into alcoholism and was also diagnosed as an agoraphobic with severe anxiety and panic disorders, which introduced the world of prescription drug abuse.
In 2007, Kendra was introduced to Lukas Rossi, winner of Rockstar Supernova, by mutual friends, Dave Navarro and Tommy Lee - and the two immediately clicked. They married 4 months after meeting. Kendra will tell anyone who will listen that Lukas saved her life. It was his love and devotion to her that spurred her to face her personal demons and reach out for help and sobriety.
Duncan Roy - Producer / Writer / Director
Duncan directed the acclaimed 2002 film AKA. He has worked as a journalist, and teaches low-budget filmmaking at UCLA extension. See his Wikipedia page for more info.

Phil also lectures in colleges throughout the United States and is the creator and host of the Sex Stand Up and Rock and Roll Show.

She is always playing the victim and always thinks people are attacking her. I got news for you hunny playing the victim your whole life only makes you worthless and thats why you have these problems everyone has problems )*&(^&_^~*`!_`$_^ over it. The world does not revolve around you! I just don’t understand why you guys continue to allow Kari Ann to act to way she is. It seems to me that everyone else is there to help themselves and all she is doing is sucking the energy out of the rest of the group. She has no intensions of joining the group and trying to work on the problems that brought her there, that is abundantly clear, or am I the only on who sees it. Well I wish everyone a recovery, however the saying goes if there is one bad apple in the bunch it will ruin the whole bunch. If you would get rid of Kari Ann I do believe the rest of the group would have a better chance at recovering, not to mention the fact that their days wouldn’t be as stressful and they may actually be able to concentrate on what they came there for. Good luck guys!!!!!!!

Dear Dr. Drew and Crew,
I just wanted to say thank you for this program. My ex-husband was a sex addict, and after years of being seperated from him I have a new understanding and peace around his addiction and the impact his addiction had on me. The behaviors he displayed as a result of his addiction were both hurtful and embarrassing to me, and I found I was unable to talk about it. I believe this show will allow a platform for the public to be able to better understand sex addiction, as well as aide those who, like myself, blindly had to deal with the disease’s hidden side affects.

Kari needs to get with the program and quit being so difficult. She thinks everyone is against her and acts like a spoiled brat. She makes me sick to look at

Kari Ann is a spoiled shallow lil girl. She is bringing to much drama to people who have enough to deal with as it is.She truly makes me sick to my stomach.I thought beauty queens had more depth and character than what she has.Who ever crowned her was wrong!

Keri Ann reminds me of a feral kitten I had. It wanted to be petted and taken care of but would draw blood whenever anyone went near it.
Keri Ann’s problem seems more like Borderline Personality Disorder. And I don’t think she’s a good fit with the stated goals of this show.
She is too destructive to be around people who are learning how to open up.

I suspect that I have a sexual addiction. I saw Dr. Drew on TV and I would like to know if I can contact him in any way. Does he have a practice where I can meet with him?
English is my second language and because of this I still have some language barriers, so I also would like to know if he has somebody in his team who speaks Spanish?

Kari Ann is very annoying, spoiled and disruptive to the entire group. Why should she have orange juice handed to her in the morning by staff while everyone else looks on. She attends group (when she can get out bed) and all she does is piss everyone off. If I was in this group, I would of left because of her special treatment. It is beginning to wear on everyone that is actually here to change. She acts like a princess and I can’t stand her. I personally have attended a rehab program and I grew up in the AA program since I was a child. However, I have never met anyone so selfish. Please get rid of her. Sometimes you have to sacrafice one to help everyone else.

Kari Ann is hurting. Kari Ann is in severe pain. Why can’t anyone see this. (a few do)
Her defensive behavior is her way of pushing people away. She needs to prove no one likes her. Eventually the person will back off and tell her where to go and how to get there. Then she can say, “see I told you you really don’t care about me.” Thus the relationship fails and it’s not her fault.
The pain she deals with has left her believing no one can really like or love her. She’s been convinced she’s a bad person and not worthy of anyone caring about her. The only way she can find any self worth is by having sex. She satisfies that person and makes them happy…for the moment. They’re happy and so she’s happy. Then she realizes they will leave to go home. Then she’s alone again and tells herself that person would have stayed if they really cared about me. So to make sure they don’t hurt her any deeper, she will become defensive, no matter what the person says. THen the person will likely get pissed off at her attitude. This will give her an excuse to not form any type of relationship with that person. Now she will have proven herself right in believing no one cares about her and not to trust anyone. And so the cycle continues.
I’m sure she has other methods of keeping away from a meaningful relationship too. I know with myself I keep myself alone by having gained ALOT of weight. I’m safe from being hurt again behind my fat. I dress sloppy, no make-up and fat. No one want’s someone that doesn’t care about his or herself. Nice big wall of fat keeps them away. I won’t get hurt, because they can’t get past that wall.
We all have our defense mechanisims. Kari has become very good at hers. Even though she can leave the other person wondering what “they” did or said. She can be hurting others with her defensive attitude. Tearing down that wall can be one hell of a hard thing to do. I know because my wall is very high and very strong. I feel very safe behind it; even though I hate it.
Great show. Lot’s of insight for those that want to see it. How do I/we forgive those that hurt us? How do we not allow ourselves to be hurt..without a wall? How do we get or restore a positive self image based on who we are inside and not on physical appearance/sex or other things? So many questions.
Thanks to Dr. Drew and all that contribute. I’m trying to get some help through the show. I hope others do too. Blessings to all, Rebecca

To the cast of Sex Rehab. I would like to thank you for your bravery in coming out to the public like this. I know when I had to admit to my addiction and behaviorial problems, I was comepletely ashamed and didn’t want to deal with it. I wanted several time to take my life so that I would no longer have to feel the pain that I have caused and created for myself. I hope that with your bravery and willingness to share what you have had to go through to get to a common peace with your self and the others you love around you , that your bravery will allow the millions of others that are struggling with this disease and are able to get the help they are looking for to rid this &!!*+)_#!_(!+(%!@(* of a monster that strips you of life.

Dear Dr Drew-
I am handicapped from cerebral palsy and I am a genetic alcoholic {genetic from both sides of the tree}. I have been in recovery for nine years. I admire you for your work with addicts in treatment. I have an older brother whom is addicted to heroin. He is still out there using. I have started watching the “Sex Rehab” teevee show on VH1 and I find it really really interesting! Keep it up!
Yours,
Laveau T.

This show really deals with some horrifying childhood trauma. I feel so badly for these patients and some of them are carrying so much guilt I can’t imagine how they feel.
I never took any of these rehab shows very seriously before, but this is so different. I hope Dr. Drew can help them,
On the other hand, what is with Kari Anne thinking everyone is laughing at her? Every time someone looks at her, she accuses them of laughing at her. She’s just not that damn funny.
And then she has to have someone bring her juice to get out of bed!! I know she has a lot of problems and I feel sorry for her, but she’s really over the top and it’s effecting the other patients. I think they should ask her to leave until she is serious and wants help.
November 19th, 2009 at 3:40 pm
Kari Ann could not tell the truth if it was written on her head in 2″ letters. How evasive can a person be? If the show wanted drama they got it with her. She actually ruins the whole experience for me and I sure for others. The other patients probably would not mind if she DID go home. She needs to go to “shrink” - what a loser.
November 19th, 2009 at 9:32 pm
Kari Ann really does want to be a part of the group, but I believe exactly what she says that she “doesn’t know how”. She doesn’t know how to let someone close or trust anyone. You can see her start to come out, and start to join the group and get with the program, and then she gets scared and puts up her defenses. We’re all products of our environments, and she obviously came from a toxic environment. HANG IN THERE, KARI ANN!! I really hope Dr.Drew & Jill don’t use her for ratings and are talented enough to help her.

Is Kari Ann ever going to complete her evaluation with the psychiatrist?
Poor Dr. Drew, I wonder if he purposely wears a stethoscope whenever he talks to her to ~)*%+`_~*%*)@%& ert the fact that he is a doctor

Kari Ann - can you scream (((((((((BIPOLAR SCHIZOPHRENIC))))))). Nope. You can’t. Already forgot what you were arguing about.
