Sex Rehab With Dr. Drew - Peep The Full Cast
The latest Celebrity Rehab spin-off, Sex Rehab with Dr. Drew, will tackle the mostly unexamined world of sex addiction. It debuts Sunday, Nov. 1 at 10/9c. More details are in the press release below, and after that, get a look at the cast of the show on set…
VH1, Dr. Drew and Irwin Entertainment have expanded their documentary series on addiction to examine one of society’s most taboo topics, sex addiction, in the upcoming series Sex Rehab With Dr. Drew. The series is set to premiere on VH1 on Sunday, November 1 at 10pm.
Addictions are nothing new, and most people are aware of those involving alcohol, drugs, and eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia, but few know about and understand sex addiction. It afflicts roughly 3%-6% of the American population, and just like other addictions, its impact on personal lives can be devastating. The affliction can wreak havoc on the mental and physical health of those afflicted as well as destroy marriages, families, careers and even finances.
Dr. Drew and a team of the nation’s foremost experts on sexual addiction will guide eight patients through an intensive state of the art program. Living together for 21 days, they’ll meet with Dr. Drew in daily one-on-one and group therapy sessions in order to get to the root of their compulsive behavior.
Dr. Drew is a highly respected practicing MD, is board certified in addiction medicine and assistant clinical professor of psychiatry at KECK USC School of Medicine, who will once again give viewers an unflinching look at exactly how the rehab process works and what it feels like for participants. Dr. Drew hopes to use his patients to humanize the process and show viewers that treatment is a viable way to break the cycle of addiction.
Beginning Monday, October 26 fans can catch a sneak peek of the season’s first episode on VH1.com – one week before the on-air premiere. Subsequent episodes will be available on VH1.com the morning after they air. Additional video content from Sex Rehab With Dr. Drew including extras from each episode will be available on VH1.com and on VH1 Mobile throughout the season.
Sex Rehab With Dr. Drew is executive produced by John Irwin and Bruce Toms for Irwin Entertainment. Dr. Drew Pinsky and Howard Lapides are also executive producing. Jeff Olde, Jill Holmes, and Noah Pollack are executive producers for VH1.
(FYI, that’s marriage/family therapist Jill Vermeire in the shot above with Dr. Drew.)
The eight Sex Rehab patients (along with some biographical info on them) are below…
Jennifer Ketchum (aka Penny Flame) – Porn actress / Director / Business woman
Jennifer Ketcham, 26 years old (former adult star known as Penny Flame) is now pursuing a writing career and life in production behind the lens. As an adult performer Jennifer climbed to the top winning over 5 awards and directing educational guides for Vivid. Jennifer still owns her adult website PennyFlame.com (NSFW, duh) and directed and produced all the content on there. Her latest venture has been a confessional blog documenting her struggle to move away from her adult film life as Penny towards becoming Jennie. Taking everything she learned from the show she has remained sober and has been enjoying all the beauties sobriety has to offer.
James “Jamie” Lovett – Surfer / Wakeboarder
James Lovett is one of the world’s top rated surfers and wakeboarders. Lovett, who started surfing before the age of 10, was perfecting aerials at the age of ten. At 14 years old Lovett turned professional and has since dominated the sport winning countless competitions and medals. In 2004, at the age of 17 years old, Lovett climbed his way to the top of the wake surfing when he won the Centurion World Wake Surfing Championships.
Nicole Narain – Model / Playboy Playmate
Soon after becoming Playboy’s Miss January 2002, she appeared in music videos from the likes of Diddy, Mario Wayans and Jermaine Dupri. She’s also appeared on Entourage, Mad TV and American Heiress. She reached a new level of exposure when a sex tape featuring her with Colin Farrel leaked. “That pretty much ruined my life,” she says. Lately, she has been focusing on writing. “I’m ready to purge,” she reports.
Kari Ann Peniche – Beauty queen / Model / Fashion designer
Kari Ann was Miss Oregon Teen USA 2002, competed at Miss Teen USA 2002, won Miss Oregon United States 2003 then went on to win Miss United States Teen 2003. In Nov 2004 she appeared in Playboy. Along with various movie roles, Kari was briefly engaged to Aaron Carter. Her upcoming book, Stripped, Strung Out, and Beautifully Abused, focuses on sexual abuse, domestic violence, power, control, relationships and goals. Her clothing line is Strung Out Girl.
Kendra Jade Rossi – Ex-porn star / Music manager
During her years in the porn industry, Kendra became a well known adult film star. However, she also became tabloid fodder. (Star magazine and Us Weekly accused her of breaking up Kevin Federline and Britney Spears marriage after a trip to Vegas, for example.) She finally left the adult film industry in 2001 on the verge of a complete breakdown. She fell headlong into alcoholism and was also diagnosed as an agoraphobic with severe anxiety and panic disorders, which introduced the world of prescription drug abuse.
In 2007, Kendra was introduced to Lukas Rossi, winner of Rockstar Supernova, by mutual friends, Dave Navarro and Tommy Lee - and the two immediately clicked. They married 4 months after meeting. Kendra will tell anyone who will listen that Lukas saved her life. It was his love and devotion to her that spurred her to face her personal demons and reach out for help and sobriety.
Duncan Roy - Producer / Writer / Director
Duncan directed the acclaimed 2002 film AKA. He has worked as a journalist, and teaches low-budget filmmaking at UCLA extension. See his Wikipedia page for more info.
Amber Smith – Supermodel/Reality TV star/Actress
An internationally recognized supermodel and actress for 20 years, Amber Smith, also acted in films such as L.A. Confidential, American Beauty and The Mirror Has Two Faces. She appeared on the second season of Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew, where she went public with her 16-year addiction to opiate painkillers. On the show, Amber underwent a painful withdrawal from drugs. She also appeared on the Rehab spin-off Sober House.
Phil Varone – Musician
Phil Varone is an accomplished drummer, music producer and songwriter best known for his work with the bands Saigon Kick and Skid Row. In 2004, Phil left Skid Row and the music business to pursue acting and stand up comedy. After moving to Los Angeles, he spent the first two years producing the feature length documentary, Waking Up Dead. Phil also lectures in colleges throughout the United States and is the creator and host of the Sex Stand Up and Rock and Roll Show.

I am a sex addict and think this show looks really promising. I’m sure the percentage of people addicted to pornography is much higher than the 3-6% listed above for sexual addiction. It’s because of this that I wish you would take the links to any porn sites off this page. They’re unnecessary at best and hurtful at worst.

Is this what we get instead of a new Surreal Life? I want wash-ups I recognize: this cast wishes they were wash-ups. What a bunch of nobodies. Come on Vh1, don’t think all the minds you’ve poisoned, and I’m one of them, will drink this swill. Get it together.

It’s about time somebody brought media attention to this. This is running out of control. According to Dr Patrick Carnes, the percentage is more like 8% men and 3%of women however, these figures are only based on those that enter treatment. I would have like to have seen more of the men on this show rather than the women because it is the men who work visually and affects them more everyday.

Why didn’t you get Usher or David Duchovny on this show?! That would make it more interesting…

I like how watching the show theres commercials of sexual toys and trojan crap.
its a shame hollywood cant enjoy the simple pleasures of celibacy. no its not hahaha.
no sex for 21 days is freakn hard for anyone unless your 90. In the end celebs are spoiled and its just entertainment for us to see people go through that.

Shows like this try to make you understand these people and understand why they act the way they do. There is no excuse to sell your body for sex and physically attack people that you don’t even know. I came from an abusive home as well and I didn’t go and get on drugs, sleep with everybody, or attack people. Kendra Jade didn’t even know me and jumped me in a club one night. I had a check and camera in one hand, a cam-corder in the other hand, and a purse on my arm. We shared a mutual acquaintance and basically because I did not want to hang out with porn-stars, she started making harrassing phone calls to my house, had a friend to spy on me, and when I showed up to see a friend’s band play at a club one night, her little spy called her and told her that I was there and she drove to the club and jumped me out of nowhere. I’m not one to fight, but I’m not scared of a fair fight. It was so cowardly of the *)%&)%*`!~$($~%)~ to jump me out of the blue while my hands and arms were full. Like I said, she never even knew me and I had never spoken to her in my life. She is so trashy that she also spit in my face as I was trying to get out of the door. I don’t think sex-therapy is what she needs. I think she needs therapy on how to stop being a trashy *)%&)%*`!~$($~%)~ and attacking people because she is ashamed of her career and I didn’t agree with what she did for a living and didn’t want to hang out with her. My mother was mentally ill and I was abused, and like I said before, I don’t act trashy like that nor do I care to see a tv show where they try to make you feel sorry for people who do act like that!

While watching what looks to be a serious and promising series on sex addiction, I was surprised to see a commercial for ClubLove where you can “chat with gorgeous singles in your area tonight for free.” Really? Did somebody at VH1 or Comcast actually think this was appropriate?
November 2nd, 2009 at 2:45 am
It just seem to be a bunch of people I really don’t care about. Amber is the only one I want to watch. No one else is really that important. There were plenty of sex addicts in the past rehab shows and other VH1 shows. Use them. People we can at least relate to. A bunch of porn actresses and a douche who wasn’t even a good surfer in the first place. That’s what we get?

this show is an answer to my prayers. bless the patient’s staff,&us all namaste, donny damage
November 2nd, 2009 at 11:44 am
With the exception of the filmmaker, how are we supposed to feel bad for all these beautiful people? If I was that hot, I would be having safe sex and lots of it. When you are attractive, people want to have sex with you. If you are not married and are safe, what is the issue? Why not show the real sex addicts? I guess awkward looking single guys don’t do anything for ratings which is what will make or break this show in the end really…not what it does to educate and/or help people suffering from this. I am a sex addict.
November 2nd, 2009 at 2:33 pm
I can’t believe all the 1-800-FREE LOVE commercials during several commercial breaks of this show. Is this really a sponsor you want? It seems a bit crazy… maybe you could get the Columbian Cartel to run pro-drug commercials during “Celebrity Rehab,” too.
November 2nd, 2009 at 4:23 pm
I am a sex addict too i never thought it existed. im glad it does and im not alone…. all my friends think im crazy for always wanting to have sex. Im happy theres a actual show for something lke this.

Dear Dr. Drew,
I was watching your new sex re-hab last night(11/01/09), and spotted a beautiful Black woman that works on your staff at your clinic. I would like to know that woman’s name. I’m not a stalker/weirdo, just a fan of beautiful women.
Thanks,
Marcus

This has got to be the most desperate, attention grabbing, exploitation I have ever witnessed on TV. These people are all so pathetically hungry for attention they go on the tube to further their careers> Unbelievably shameless!
November 3rd, 2009 at 12:35 am
You know, if you read the description of what these scummy people do, you’ll see that they are all successful with possibly the exception of Amber. If they had a serious addiction it would interfere with their lives and success. I haven’t had sex in a year and I get opportunities from men. I’m just above that. If I’m not in a committed relationship, I don’t have some desperate need to fill. I get horny, sure, who doesn’t. Big deal. It goes away. I just don’t feel sorry for “addicts” they are users and selfish. I mean, look at the ^#!_~`^(&~~`(^&** who is married on this show. The woman has a loving husband. After she _+)!!^+%+`)#*_#~~ d herself out on film for years. She’s scum. Penny/Jennifer=scum. The dudes, that surfer, please, it’s all in his head, no one wants `))`*+&^~#@#@$#+ him. This show is a joke. Dr. Drew is a joke.

Whomever this Jamie Lovett guy is, one thing he’s NOT is a pro surfer. He is not, nor was he ever, even within striking distance of making the pro tour. I’m in the industry, and I can’t even recall ever seeing a photo of him in any of the major mags. Lots of people can do airs, and lots of people win regional comps, and lots of people have small sponsorships. That doesn’t make them “pro”. I don’t know what his deal is with wakeboarding, but don’t insult the world of pro surfing by saying this kook is involved in it.
November 3rd, 2009 at 12:31 pm
What are you doing to help these people overcome their addiction? Will you publish techniques so we can use them to help ourselves or others?
Thank you.
November 3rd, 2009 at 8:32 pm
I like the show.
Jamie Lovett is a Professional Skimboarder. A very good one at that. Skimboarding is where you throw a skimboard down, jump on it with your feet, get out to a wave, then ride it.
The show reveals how bad sex addiction can get sometimes. Very entertaining.

after watching the first show and realizing I suffer from sex addiction I would like to know where to get treatment for this disease. I was sexually abused at 5 and physically abused my whole childhood. I was also sexually abused for several years by my older brother and feel like sex is the only thing I have to offer men in my life. My job is to please them and then go to the next one. I am a male not really sure if I am gay although I have been ingaging in gay sex for 20 plus years.

I don’t believe that these people are sex addicts, and I don’t believe there is such a thing, I think what’s wrong with these people is that their brains did not fully develop, and they are mentally handicapped.
Give me a break, how many of your porn stars are “real” celebrities, if that’s what a celebrity is than 1/2 the country are celebrities. Usually everything ends up being about publicity, and like they( who is they anyways) always say bad publicity is good publicity, how many of these porn stars will be releasing new movies soon after this, we all now the porn industry is hurting, and the musician, when will his new album come out, or when is he going on tour (Brett Michaels) , the models, just can’t get any bookings because they are simply as I would say, Lost their class and now they are trash, sorry ladies, you stopped getting attention because you are no longer on magazine covers, so now you simply do this for the attention it gets you, here is my phychiatrist point of view, try using the rest of your brain and realize that there is more to life than sex, don’t get me wrong, I love sex (with my husband), no complaints here, I’m good at it and I do it like a porn star, but, I have many other things that make me feel good and give me attention.
November 4th, 2009 at 12:52 am
How much “healing” can these mental attention ^_$@@%(`((_%%(**` scum bags get in a mere three weeks? It’s a stupid show and I’m embarrassed that it’s on TV. People airing their dirty laundry has become much to common. All these people are exaggerating. Two or three of the women are in PORN. It’s their former or current job. The one girl who says she masterbates 19 times a day? Pleeeeeze! These people should be locked up in padded rooms. They grow up w/o morals, w/o religion of any kind, w/o a sense of right or wrong, good or bad. Look at their !*&*$$@#+$_)!!`) ing faces! They are getting paid to do this show. It’s a “show”. They are the “cast”. Each one cast to play a different role. These people should be embarrassed. And the one who has a husband should be at home with him. Stupid ^_$@@%(`((_%%(**` s!
November 4th, 2009 at 1:08 am
Damn, this show is fake. Kendra Jade and her stepmother had sex with Jerry Springer. They were also on Jerry Springer’s show as a mother daughter sex duo. Look it up. Also Kendra was supposedly all messed up b/c she was without he husband on the first day of treatment. Oh brother! What does she do when he goes away on gigs? I mean, she’s a big girl, for )@+)*))$)#`)%~## s sake! These spoiled people seriously need to grow up.
November 4th, 2009 at 1:29 am
This show finally could help people who like me are addicted to something this culture values so highly and thinks you can’t have enough of! We need help, but doubt we actually have a problem. Our lives suffer significantly. Traces of our pasts define how we got to where we’re at today. I’m not getting my hopes up that this show will be on much longer, or that it will change my life that much. I do think it changed me tonight watching it in the fact I realized I do have a problem. Awareness!!!

“I don’t believe that these people are sex addicts, and I don’t believe there is such a thing…”
I can ^()$^`(%#+$~@*( ure you there is “such a thing”. It’s usually not about the physical act of sex (at least for women, anyway); it is about equating sex with love, the attention and the feeling of closeness it gives you. Yes, it is a sickness and a case of low self-esteem and a huge need to be loved. (Usually stemming from abuse/neglect from so-called parent(s).)

Hey, I found a wife. She’s an ex porn star who has never been able to be faithful in any committed relationship? Yup!She’s all mine! Let’s check out her work. Look at all the filthy depraved acts she has performed on hundreds of unattractive men. That sure is a lot of splooge on her face. Awwwww…how sweet. What a good woman. I wonder if she has a lax attitude about loveless sex acts with strangers? No, no, of course not. It’s clear that she is grounded in a strong moral fiber. What a perfect woman to honor with the sanctity of marriage. I’m so glad Tommy Lee introduced us. Seeing a woman like her walking toward me in pure, pure white. How worthy she is. I know my marriage to Kendra Jade will be the epitome of a faithful and strong marriage. She also is a chain smoker and I love smelling the nicotine on her fingers. I’m sure, she’ll never use me for anyting. People like her are not users. Oh, is she a “music manager” now? What a coincidence! Remember when she had a sex scandal with Jerry Springer and her step mother? Why, yes, having a threesome with Jerry Springer and her stepmother while taping it, helped launched her into porn. I sure got myself a little hustler. I’m such a lucky guy. I’m a muscian, so I guess that makes me a sleeze bucket too, as well as an idiot. Ok, wish us luck. Mmmm…I love her so much I want to hug her so tight and crush her ribs. One last kiss on my Lady’s hand before she departs in to Rehab for sex addiction. Isn’t she just greaaaat. I sure hope Dr. Drew makes it to our GOLDEN wedding anniversary party!

LOSERS
November 5th, 2009 at 7:00 pm
Finally, someone opens up about sex addiction without it being some brief 60 minute documentary. Maybe now most will understand how sex is the most addictive drug in the world! It has destroyed nations (and rebuilt them
but taken out of its proper context it destroys lives. But, who really wants to be cured?
November 5th, 2009 at 10:34 pm
I was married to a sex addict for many years. In my opinion, this is a much bigger problem than people realize. I am glad to see that VH1 is bringing this issue to the forefront so that this addiction will be better understood by our society today.
November 6th, 2009 at 12:25 pm
I am watching with hope. This show has the potential to be extremely relevant. But will it be? Or is it just another rating pump .. sex is the all time best seller afterall.

I think this show will be gud i already see that i relate to kendra the most cuz that is my problems

I happened upon your show. I was deeply moved. I have been struggling with whether or not to accept the diagnosis of porn or sex addict. Seeing the deep way Dr. Drew approaches the pain beneath the addiction makes me feel the honor in accepting the diagnosis and then working with myself and with others to walk the talk and grow to give and receive real love. The show is a beautiful gift to the world.
From the comments posted, it is clear that some people cannot see beyond their judgements to the suffering the addiction causes. I imagine that at least some of them may have their judgements shaken and their hearts opened by this series. That will be a part of the gift. The other part will be that some who suffer the addiction will come to hold themselves more gently, to see their “failings” in a broad and deep way that can help them find a path to true healing. And some will see that there are good people ready to help them on that difficult path back to life. Thank you again.

I’m greatful that the show is bringing attention to the problem of sex addiction. It has destroyed my life. When I hear that there are people, even doctors, who do not believe sex addiction is real, it makes me feel even more hopeless. Surely these please have not suffered from it or they would most certainly believe in the addiction.
Some who have posted comments here have argued that sex addiction isn’t a real addiction because the particpants on the show are successful. This argument does not hold up. I’ve been able to hold down a job now for over 2 years, and I even finished a 4 year college degree program before that. All the while I have been battling my own sex addiction. The technical term might be: “functioning addict”. In any case, the addiction can range in severity. My addiction interferes with my life in many ways, most notibly, I hate myself, and I don’t enjoy outdoor activities as much as I used to.
But anyhow…hopefully the show does well. I’m not really into reality shows, but if the people on the show are real, then I sincerely hope that they’re able to overcome their addictions. And this would give me hope.

Dear Dr. Drew,
I was browsing through the TV tonight and saw your show on VH1. I saw myself in those people that participated.
I can identify strongly with the musician. Do you have a book or something that people like myself can read so that we can be cured?
I would like to be cured of this addiction I have.
I will like to tell you my story in a simplify version but please do not publish it.
I am the last of 6 children by my mother side and the last of 4 children by my father side.
I think that my mother loves me very much but I do not think that my father love me at all.
He gave my mother money to have me aborted; she took the money but never went through with the abortion. So when I was born he was very very angry and never corresponded with me or her for a some time. They are now married and living together.
I started being involved in sex at a very early age. We were a bit more financially well off than our neighbors so when their children wanted things from us, my bigger brothers used to let me have sex with the girls who were much elder than me. And very soon I became very good at that. I got Venereal Disease (VD) at the age of 9.
I cannot remember the number of women I had been intimate with, may be thousands, sometimes going on the train or on the Go Train, I will meet them and have sex and then go to work. Most of the time, it was just once or twice that I would have sex with them.
I would be walking on the street and meet these women and will go to a hotel or some place and have sex them. Most of the time, I would never see them again. Most of my male friend’s wives or girlfriends I have had sex with.
I don’t know how I did it but it happened, maybe it’s some sought of signal I look for in these women. I do not know how, to stop.
I used to have sex with clients in the bank who wanted approval for their loans, my teachers, Immigration officers, bank officers practically anyone who came in contact with me. . It’ was very bad.
Once I had sex with 14 women in a 24 hour period. I have masturbated almost everyday of my adult life. I first Masturbated on April 18, 1982.
Sometime I think that there are many persons inside of me all wanting sex.
When having sex, it is not about the women but something else. In my mind it is as though I am punishing them for being with me. I don’t know if you understand what I am saying, but after having sex with them I will feel disappointed. I will feel guilty with myself.
Once I went to the Niagara Falls with my wife, I met this woman in the parking lot I went straight into her hotel room and had sex. We did not even had more that a few words. As though she was expecting me. She wanted some water so I left her room to get some things in the shop downstairs, on my way to the grocery I met another woman for the first time and went back to her room and had sex. This had been the strangest experience I had ever had relating to sex.
There is this compulsion in me to do what I do but I know it is wrong and I want to stop. How do I stop?
Do you have a book or something that I can read to cure myself?
This is the first time I am discussing this with anyone. Please do not publish this.
If you have any suggestion please tell me.
If people know what I have just said to you they would be very disappointed in me, so you should not discuss this with anyone.
Thank you.
Justine

I’m really intrigued by this particular show and it’s content. I believe I am also a Sex Addict after being sober for many needs. Like it was discussed on the show, this is very difficult to address. I’ve found that total celibacy is the only way.
November 8th, 2009 at 3:25 pm
I watched the show today & felt really badly for Jennifer Ketcham. She said she felt like a monster for sleeping up to 15 kids when she was a kid. She’s taking all the blame when the other person she did it with was at fault too & she was so sure that took the virginity from these kids, which I think is doubtful. I bet most of them had already experienced sex. Speaking for myself, I was devirginized at 12 as well & for her to think she’s a monster for sleeping with about 15 different people, well I kept track of mine & I was up to 86 on my 16th birthday. I am also a sex addict, she’s no monster & I don’t fell as I am either. We both just got caught up in a world that came easy for us & I highly doubt any of the kids, now men hate her or me for having sex with them. I am glad she is getting help to reazlize she is no monster. I only wish I could get that kind of help, because if I don’t I fear something horrible will happen to me.

I’m also in recovery……. and the first episode hit home. When Dr. Drew asked “What’s behind the wall?”it stuck with me all week!
But tonight ? TOO MANY COMMERCIALS! Frustrating, boring, money making.
Dr. Drew has a real opportunity to touch a lot of people with this show. At 19 years drug and alcohol sober, I’m finally dealing with my sex addiction and I’m AMAZED at how many people in my 12 step groups are approaching me wanting to know more. Definitely an under diagnosed disease. LESS COMMERCIALS, PLEASE!!!

I saw the Celebrity Rehab show seasons ago regarding drug and alcohol addiction, which I felt was a disaster. Out of curiosity, regarding the topic of sex and love addiction, I peeked again. The good doctor Drew just may meander into a 12 step meeting and see just how the wounded healers recover for free and with wonderful results and freedom from addiction. Yep, for free. The celebs that came into meetings a few times seemed drugged and chained to that hospital atmosphere. I am saddened that Drew seems to an opportunist that never has grasped the therapy that aids the inflicted. Peace is promised and can be achieved from Bill Wilson’s good old reliable steps. Call me or email me sometime Drew, and I will meet you for coffee and maybe help to straighten you out about the walking miracles that for a “buck in the basket” and an hour or 2 per day can relieve their torment. Do our community a favor and stretch your knowledge base. Of course when found out, you may just be on the unemployment line, like many of us. Until then…..
