The Celebreality Interview – Brooke

ma_final_bb_34

And so, in the end, Antonio picked Brooke and they kissed their way into the sunset…or did they? Below, Brooke speaks candidly about the state of her relationship with Antonio, her feelings about the competition and reality TV romance and what additionally she’d like to get out of this experience.

Congratulations.

Well, thank you. That’s really, really nice to hear. No one’s been able to tell me that yet.

Where is your relationship with Antonio at this moment?

I’m just going to be honest with you: I am not in touch with Antonio. We haven’t spoken in probably two, three months.

The show was shot when?

In January. We couldn’t really court, because we weren’t allowed to be seen in public, so it’s very difficult to try to have a relationship behind closed doors. We had just met and we tried to pull it off. We saw each other for probably a couple of months after the show was filmed, and then we just decided it was best to see other people, and I haven’t heard from him since.

You did give it a try though?

Oh yeah. We put effort into it. I met his children. We would go hiking on the weekends in his back yard in the woods. We saw each other on the weekends, being very careful not to let anyone else see us. If he had any sort of job interview in L.A., he would stop by and visit me in my home. He’s adorable. We had a great time — as good of a time as you could have indoors with no outside contact. It was really nice getting to know him and his children.

Was it weird making the transition from reality show romance to real-life romance?

Yeah. The reality of Antonio’s life is that it is very, very mellow and structured. He is a great dad. He cooks his kids breakfast, he takes them to school, they come home, he cooks them dinner and in between he gets a workout in. I think that’s great for him. He’s a family guy and he takes care of his kids. So, that was different.

No jumping out of planes, then?

Well, when you put two people together and they can’t do that kind of stuff, there has to be a lot of conversation and a deep, spiritual connection as far as establishing a foundation for a relationship. He thought that should come with time, but to me, I just felt like we didn’t have much to talk about. Don’t get me wrong: I had fun with him and his children. That was great. But do I wish we could have done some more exciting things? Of course. We could have said, “Hey, let’s put our relationship on hold and resume when we don’t have to be behind closed doors.”

Is that still possible? If Antonio called you tomorrow and said, “Let’s hang out,” what would you say?

I think we could be really good friends. I’m not mad at him. You can’t say a bad thing about Antonio SabĂto, Jr. He is beautiful and he has a very kind heart. And yeah, if he called me and wanted to go to dinner, sure. As far as picking back up in some sort of serious, committed relationship, that would take some time.

Looking at the situation in a different way, regardless of the final outcome, is it satisfying to have won this competition for the sake of competing?

Oh yeah. I’m competitive by nature. To win anything is satisfying. It was really great because once I won, I got to spend the weekend in Hawaii with Antonio, and it was a great time. I didn’t go into this thinking I was going to walk out winning. I went into this for the experience and for fun and thinking that it would be great to meet some other women. It wasn’t until he let Tully go that I thought, “Oh my God, I have a chance of winning this.” To me, he and Miranda were not a match from the beginning, because she’s so fearful and she doesn’t have an athletic bone in her body. But winning was still a great shock and immensely satisfying. Do I wish $1 million would have come with it? Yes! That would have been icing on the cake.

Did you have a strategy? I wondered if you speaking with Yvonne on the boat while everyone else was hanging all over Antonio was your way of strategizing.

I think it’s important to have a relationship with a man’s family, because the family was there first and you’re going to be brought into that bond. It’s always great to be on good terms with the in-laws, especially the mom. So that wasn’t strategy. The only strategy came from these relationship classes, which now it looks like are biting me in my butt. Basically, I just wanted to be the lady and let him be the man. I just tried to use Dr. Pat Allen‘s strategy, so I’d let him speak first. I’d let him ask the questions. I wasn’t as aggressive as the other 13 women. Sitting back and letting him come to me was, in a way, my strategy. Also, at night, when you’d watch these women drink, they almost became train wrecks. I think a lot of them self-sabotaged in a way. They could have done more by not saying a word or not picking up a drink.

What are your overall thoughts on Yvonne?

Love Yvonne. I think that she is a lovely woman. Whether or not she played it up for the show, she’s got a hard side to her. I think she was a little hard on Tully, and that she came across as ruthless. But I understand where she’s coming from: she wanted an apology from Tully, and clearly she’s never going to get it. Yvonne is who she is, and you have to accept people for who they are. She happened to like me, thank God.

What do you think about Tully?

The only thing that Tully ever said that got to me while we were filming was that none of us were good enough for Antonio. I had a talk with her about that. I mean, I felt like it was positive in the sense that it showed that he’s such a good guy and that she was legitimately back for him because she missed out. The negative was that she had no idea who I was. I have high self value. She associated me with Christi and Jen and the party girls. That’s not me, but I did have more in common with them than other girls. She told me I was guilty by association. Whatever. But now that I watch the show, I feel for her. The second to last episode? How emotional. I wanted to cry. I was like, “No! Don’t let her go!” There was so much love there. I couldn’t believe it that he let her go before Miranda.

Your relationship with Miranda was interesting. You were very civil toward each other, even down to the end, although she had less-than-civil stuff to say about you in interviews. What do you think about her, and the “cheerleader” comment?

I think Miranda is quite interesting, and I think she will do very well. You could probably make a show about Miranda and her quirky self. She lives in a bubble and she’s a little OCD. I felt like she wasn’t always who you see Miranda to be. I felt like she had a different side when the cameras weren’t there. She was not a happy person, and I am a happy person. It could just be the fact that she’s from New York, and I’m from Mississippi. I sing and I dance and I’m kind of silly, but she takes till 2 in the afternoon to wake up and she doesn’t want any noise till then. We’re just two totally different personality types. Would we hang out had we not been put in that situation? No. But we did make it work. She made the cheerleading comment because I was happy, and I don’t think it was just because of the Survivor-type challenge. Just walking to different locations, I would sing, and it just annoyed her. She’s just not that way. So I guess she still doesn’t like cheerleaders, so whatever. That’s OK.

It’s interesting that you talk about your approach to let Antonio talk first, because you were also assertive with him. You openly questioned his career status.

Let me start here: I did not know who Antonio SabĂto, Jr., was before I did this show. I knew he created a name for himself, but the reality is that if you’re an actor and you’re doing a reality show, your acting career isn’t on top. I’m not an idiot. I just wanted to know what his goals were. What if he got in a car wreck tomorrow and no longer looked like he does? I didn’t know what he’d done as far as preparing a future. I knew that he had two kids. It was a legitimate concern of mine to know how he’d be able to provide, especially if he chose me and we had more children. But I thought his answer was awesome. He said that he’s been providing for himself since he was 16-years-old and he has the drive of 1,000 horses. He couldn’t have answered that in a better way. I don’t care if you have money, but as long as you have ambition and the wits about you to make the money, I’m good.

Was your request for a relationship contract also a product of your concern about the way things work on reality TV?

No. I like that it came across to you that way, but that’s not it at all. It’s again Dr. Pat Allen’s theory. I actually shouldn’t have said it in the context that I did – I should have waited till he was trying to sleep with me or whatever. I just wanted Antonio to know that I’m not an easy girl to be with, that if he wanted a casual, sexual relationship, that’s just not me. Basically, before taking that plunge, I wanted to know: how often are you going to see me, is it just going to be me and what are your long-term goals for me? I want to be courted, and regardless of an engagement ring or whatever, those things are important to know before I let someone in.

Looking back on everything – competing, winning, breaking up with Antonio – are you disappointed with the way this all turned out?

No. I would love for this to parlay into some great hosting career or some other great experiences derived from the show, but overall I have no regrets. I’ll never not nurse. I love what I do, but at the same time, it’d be nice to have some options.

Did you go on this show looking for exposure?

Yeah. I mean…I prayed a lot about appearing on it. The doors just opened, my employers told me that I could take a leave even for a month, and if I would have said no, I would have been the only block to the opportunity. I just did it. I just jumped in. I’m glad I did. Had the relationship worked out, I wouldn’t have cared about parlaying it into exposure and opportunities. But since it didn’t, I’m hoping the exposure will enable me to have other work.

Keep up with Brooke via her MySpace and her personal site.

brooke looked so desperate…maybe he took pity on her.
clearly they were polar opposites. She was as phony as they get. and not attractive at all without makeup…lots ov makeup!

Devon October 28, 2009 at 7:56 pm

I am upset that Antonio did not pick Tully. She was the only woman on the show who was actually there for him and not the exposure. He never kissed any of the other women the way he kissed her. The past is the past he needs to leave it there and give her another shot. Brook is VERY fake and does not want a guy who doesn’t have a steady paycheck…. why go on a show to meet an actor then? I liked Miranda but saw more of a friendship then a love. He should have picked Tully. Mom doesn’t always know best!!

Ashley bacon October 28, 2009 at 8:05 pm

BROOKE YOU ARE SO FAKE.
im glad, you and antonio broke up.
he finally opened his eyes and realized you

You came on this show for exposure, not for love.

Brooke your the best i love you keep your head up, you would make a wonderful wife for someone, maybe antonio jus wasen’t the right one for you. good luck!

gwen October 29, 2009 at 12:33 am

i think that brooke was very stupid for breaking it off wih antonio. with those dimples.

Kimberly October 29, 2009 at 3:05 am

I think Antonio dumped Brooke if anything… definitely not vice versa!

Nancy PA October 29, 2009 at 1:36 pm

Antonio Should have picked tully she really loved him Brooke is a fake #+$~&%**#`~`(~&

cynthia October 29, 2009 at 2:37 pm

I loved the show but I thought Antonio was going to pick Tully they had a past

Michelle October 29, 2009 at 2:54 pm

I think that brooke is amazing, i like brooke alot. She is so beautiful i really did dislike miranda alot because brooke was so sweet to her and at times miranda would talk bad about her the show when brooke was jus trying to be the best friend to all the girls in the house, i also think alot of the girl’s in the house was hating on brooke all the time, Me personally i think brooke is a wonderful woman and she will find true love one day, good luck brooke and keep your head up. your biggest fan Michelle.

Ochun Gere October 29, 2009 at 10:18 pm

You rock

Michele October 30, 2009 at 2:02 am

Well, what can you say? For some reason I thought Antonio would pick Tully. She was the only one that appeared to really love Antonio. Brooke even said she didn’t love Antonio. And if that’s what he was looking for, then he passed it up with Tully. The past is over and Antonio should get over it. If he truly loved Tully he should have given her a second chance because you could see it in Brooke’s eyes that she didn’t love him. Good luck to all of you. Keep the doors open.

abester October 30, 2009 at 9:43 am

From a mans point of you i also would have chosen Brooke. Shes gorgeous and quirky and shes got alot of qualities and characteristics that men look for in a woman. Miranda seemed pretty decent as well but someone that speaks behind a persons back will speak behind anyones back and that was not cool. Tully doesnt deserve another chance, how long have they been separated for and until now that he has a reality show she wants another chance!! Come on girls whos really in it for the exposure??!! I rooted for Brooke until the very end but after reading this interview im not to sure if my gut was rite. Another thing is that her “contract” convo scared him away. But i blame him for that cuz no gentlemen (especially at his age) she be looking for a good time, he should be looking to settle down. Hes not gonna be that handsome in a couple of years lol. I dont respect either for this decision.

Janelle October 30, 2009 at 1:24 pm

I don’t think Brooke is or was fake at all. She was honest, even in that interview. She was always the same, in front of Antonio and away from him. Who doesn’t want exposure going on a tv show? If you don’t want any exposure, you don’t go on tv. These connections rarely work out because it’s not a real dating situation. Tully was sincere in her feelings for Antonio but I think it was the financial security that was driving her and she is an emotional mess, very manipulative. Brooke was the best choice out of ALL the girls for Antonio. He surprised me the most. I thought he’d be a complete big headed jerk but he wasn’t at all. An incredibly kind and respectful person. I hope he and Brooke find real love, whether together or with other people.

colleen courtney October 30, 2009 at 2:05 pm

Brooke and Antonio did have chemistry and is not fake! She is as real as a person can be. She is a beautiful woman with a Brain. She can live in the moment which was what appears on tv but has insite to who and what she wants. She’s not a Hollywood BimBo! I pray she meets a wonderful man. Antonio seems like a wonderful man inthe fact that he is sensitive and a great father. His life is to much of Hollywoods Life and not easy to live. They are continually smothered by camera’s and can’t even breath. You want Hollywood for the sake of being popular, you might as well sell your soul to the devil. I pray they both find what they are looking for!

I can’t believe this Nancy chick, what a very jealous individual to have to say such things, I’m glad Brooke is far above that, Your a wonderful and beautiful woman Brooke and besides that, you don’t even have to wear make-up, you are naturally beautiful, inside and out!!

Amy October 30, 2009 at 2:51 pm

I really think that Antonio made a mistake by NOT picking Tully…yeah, it was a competition and a tv show but, I could tell that she really still loves him and I think the feeling was mutual!

Sharidan October 30, 2009 at 2:51 pm

I thought for sure that Miranda would win… I’m very disappointed.Him and Miranda made a cuter couple hands down! Brooke, your wrong to just go on the show for “FUN”. That’s not what the show is about.. too many chicks go on these type of shows for this and look stupid in the end. I’m glad money was not involved cause you would have not deserved it. You went for the vacation when other girls were there to win Antonio. Sorry, but Tully was scary. She was just popping up outta nowhere far as i’m concerned she shouldn’t have been allowed on the show if she did not go through casting. She portrayed herself as weak and seemed really clingy and boring.. history is history. Be friends and that’s it. Oh well, sequel anyone? lol

lore87 October 30, 2009 at 8:13 pm

i didn’t like Brooke 4 Antonio, i am glad they are not together.

Rashmi October 31, 2009 at 12:16 am

I’m also upset he picked Brook!! I don’t believe Miranda or Brook were right for him!! We all hope for Antonio’s Every Happiness with someone real & loving! As a matter of fact, The issue with Tully..there is a reason they didn’t make it b4..the past needs to be left behind all together.

LYNETTE October 31, 2009 at 1:09 pm

if you ask me i think you should have listend to his
ex wife you cannot compete with the past he is still
and always will be in love with tully they have a history together

marissa November 1, 2009 at 1:38 am

Im confused.

Are they still 2gether??!!

Tara November 1, 2009 at 3:33 pm

Tully,

In the beginning, I can honestly say that your entrance was a bit threatening to the other girls; however my feeling is that the other girls should have been comfortable with themselves and look beyond being extremely “hateful” as you embarked on this type of venture. I believe in my heart that you were in fact the one for Antonio. There is such a thing as starting over or even attempting to face what was lost long ago. I applaud your effort in putting yourself out there so publicly that your heart was laid out on the line to be hurt.

I believe that Yvonne truly means well; however she should try to understand that she’s done her part to raise her son and it’s “OK” for him to make a decision relative to his future without his mother or family members’ input. She obviously knows nothing about true love and how one can lose it and gain it once again with time. It really is possible.

You are one tough cookie and with that said, the true “love” that you have and have had for Antonio was not prevalent in any of the other girls on the show. Their motive(s) were to acquire “air-time” and exposure or to literally meet someone that they could have as a token. Your motive was that you’ve grown to know how to be a better, more improved person and sometimes life is what makes it possible to grow. I believe that Antonio, should recognize that he’s done exactly the same thing, yet fails to recognize his faults as well.

You continue to keep your head up and prosper in life with your son. I still believe that Antonio still does truly love you; however is terribly frightened to delve into a life with someone whom reminds him of past “no-no’s”. I say no problem because he will see that you’re the one sometime very soon, if not, now.

Warm regards,

Tara

amanda November 1, 2009 at 3:48 pm

u forget that antonio chose Brooke because he saw them 24/7. we are so quick to judge Brooke but the producers edit, edit, edit so we will have only one opinion of each girl.

marge November 1, 2009 at 9:19 pm

i cried when tully was eliminated. tully was real. the show could have ended very exciting and satisfying if antonio chose tully. antonio, give tully a chance. if yvonne is a true mother, she should let antonio give a chance to reconcile with tully. otherwise this is a fake show to get exposure and get money.

i think tully should of won. she is only the best person for him because they have kids together, why not settle their differences and get back together. please, antonio dont do another tv show i love you and good luck on your new relationship.

T November 4, 2009 at 3:18 pm

I think you all need to get a life. If you don’t know girls from the south, they are all honest and beautiful. Full of life and fun. All of you people who say she is fake obviously has never been in the south. This is just a show anyway. For god sake, get a life and don’t worry whether it worked out or not. It’s really their business anyway right?! Everyone needs to concentrate on themselves. Not a TV show. He picked the best one anyway. If it didn’t work out it’s their business. Not anyone else.

Jessica November 5, 2009 at 5:43 pm

Tully sucked and she was not that great looking i’m glad he did’nt pick her. Honestly they were all fake i knew that who ever he picked would not work.

The funny thing is…Brooke was not fake at all! She was the only one that was true to herself and her beliefs! I think people thought she was fake because they aren’t honest and true to themselves! Take a long look in the mirror ladies – I don’t think you like yourselves very much! So sad!

Brooke – you were great! Antonio picked you because of your realness. He knows class when he sees it.

cindy November 7, 2009 at 2:14 pm

i hope Antonio is with Tully now…
she really loved him…still….
& i think deep down he loves her still…
BUT i think his mom influenced that to not
go back with Tully…
i know Tully hurt him…BUT i think she REALLY
was sorry for the past & wanted to start over..NEW…
i hope that happens…someday !!

Everyone keeps calling Brooke fake??? She had the most sense out of all the women. Tully was old news, ugly, and a drama queen. Miranda was cute and cool, but she was too self-absorbed. Antonio needs someone who’s going to balance him out….and quit relying on his mama’s opinion!!! When do you grow up? You are to pray and ask God if a person will make a good a wife/husband.

All the ladies were different and totally just wonderful out there but Tully, i thought she was the most amazing woman out of them all. She was seriously putting herself out there to try to get Antonio back and i honestly believe Anotonio wanted to be with Tully too and Everyone knows he still loves her and still has that connections plus i believe he wanted to be with her. i believe that he might of made a mistake of her leaving. I cried when i saw her leave too and i agree, the past is the past and he needs to leave that behind and to forgive and give her another chance. Tully was my favorite and i honestly dont think Brooke was real… she was a nice lady but it did not look like she was really in for it. I just think she was in for the “winning” prize. now what.. is there going to be My Antonio 2?? Might as well just not make part 2 and just got to Tully before trying a new Episode. :) BTW, Antonio is amazing and hes the only guy i would love to meet <3

i would just like to ask why in the hell all of these women and men get on these reality love shows expecting to find love when they know that it is all for show on the behalf of the person looking for love. how many of these stupid shows must be aired before anyone cathces that fact??? I mean damn! New york and taylor maid din’t last, pumpkin and flavor flav didn’t last, tila tequial and that one guy din’t last, real, and chance ddin’t find love, and antonio ddin’t find love.

I realize it is all for show, but it is dirty just airingout the lives of so many honest women and men who may be actually searching for love.

From the very beginning of the show I thought that Brooke was beautiful, classy and definately the best one there. Any of my friends that watched the show agreed also. Anyone with half a brain could see that. Miranda was so high maintenance, miserable & depressing to watch. That red head (forgot her name) was so trashy, pschotic & nasty. I bet none of the men that have ever dated her, have anything nice to say about her! You can see right through her. Tully seemed very sincere and real but once a couple breaks up its usually over and it can’t really be fixed no mattter how much you try. Its called a break up because its broken! I’m sure Antono will find some girl, thats willing to put up with his overbearing & controlling mother.

Brooke I can understand why what happened. Its hard to have a relationship where the romance just wasn’t there off screen. Things happen and I really hope you find the man of your dreams one day.:)

I actually liked Brooke and I thought she stood out the most in the beginning. I just came here to say that I just saw Brooke on that TLC show “Untold Stories of the ER.” I think she played a nurse. I just found it weird. Carry on!
