Don’t Laugh At Kari Ann On The Next Sex Rehab!
On dealing with Kari Ann’s disagreeable behavior in Sex Rehab, Dr. Drew told us: “We have to be delicate, gentle, and give them room to get with it. In substance treatment it’s, ‘Hey, you either want to get with it, or you don’t. If you don’t, get out of here.’ In sex addiction, you try to give them a little more space and that’s why we were sort of trying to cooperate with her.” Hence, allowing her to dictate: “The easiest way to wake me up is with a cup of juice.” Tune in to Sunday’s show (premiering at 10/9c) to see if Kari Ann gets her juice.

I say if you want to go home so bad, why did you agree to be on the show. It’s not like someone came and kidnapped you and dragged you to the set…I mean Pasadena Recovery Center. I really think it stinks when any of those folks act so rude to the staff, ESPECIALLY in the first 24-48 hours…seriously? You can’t endure anything for that short of a period of time? I have not walked a mile in Kari-Ann’s heels, but seriously - don’t pretend you have nothing else going on - no one is buying your excuses - I need a cup of juice…really??? Go ahead home. So far as her saying Dr. Drew asks weird questions…um…all he was trying to do is figure out why you are there.

Can anyone clue me in on the schedule for this show? What day/time do new episodes air? It seems like they’re rerunning episodes 2-3x every day, without ever saying when the show actually comes out (and I’d like to catch new episodes.)
Much love for Dr. Drew, I think he rocks!
And… I think Kari Ann has more going on as well. Dr. Drew mentioned her being defensive at intake, when he was asking questions and she wouldn’t answer, but she looked very dissociated to me

Has anyone noticed that the manager of Kari Ann is the same douchebag David Weintraub who was involved with Mary Carey on Celb rehab? Why is this jerk allowed near any people? Why does Dr. Drew tolerate his presence (by cell phone this time) on the show?

at the very least, these shows remind me why i can’t stand addicts and refuse to have an addict in my life.

The show is excellent , the patients are coragious and I wish them the best. Sex addiction is a hard habit to break …Sex adddicts have all the “drugs” we need in our heads. For many of us the “High” comes from fantasy and flirting , telling our selves how we are going to get “high” thats why we saw the Surfer going crazy in the first epasode I believe . In the Second epasode the drummer is most likely getting high thinking how beautiful the model is…they are doing it to “escape ” all the tough work they have to do to work on their recovery. Kari ann(?) seems to be desparately trying to avoid treatment and i think it is good for the rest of them to have her there to give them an extreme exaample of what they are going through or will go through… in treatment it is a pain ,but it is good to have someone going into withdrawl ,because for me it soon dawned on me “that is me” in an “exagerated model” as my issues were oblivios to me after years of using sex . Dont discount the “shame factor’ i believe it fuels the addict to stay out of recovery , go back to using etc. Did you notice how Kari Ann said her abuse was’nt an issue and then clamed up after Dr Drew brought up that “maybe ” it ties in somewhere ? Is she anticipating more questions and thats why she won’t “get outta bed” if she can make it past this she will be a great “go to ” “model” for the rest when they hit their “walls” i believe.

I feel for all of the patients. I see a lot of my daughter in Kari Ann although K.A. is far more consistent in her combative behaviors while my daughter turns on a dime. I feel her pain. She is ashamed that someone fooled her so badly when she was a child and being combative towards authority is her way of being in control. She doesn’t like anyone laughing at her because she feels dumb. I pray she will continue with the show and get some help. I am so sad that there are so many innocent children in the world who are taken advantage of by grownups. These grownups have shattered kids’ lives and I would like for Dr. Drew to address what kinds of adults do these things to children. I’d like to see a public uprising against these people because they are creating broken human beings who, in turn, are having a very negative impact on our society.

I wish I could laugh in her face. She needs to grow up.

This show is brilliant. It deals with what is probably the most common addictive problem in our country-a problem that has only exacerbated with the easy availability of sex on the internet.
I feel that so many people are helped to develop insight into their own problems while they are receiving education via this show.
Kari will turn out to be a very sad case. Her horror of being ridiculed comes from a very painful place. She also appears to have some underlying psychiatric problems.
I had similar problems when I was younger. It breaks my heart for the cast to watch them cope with the same issues.
I’ll be watching, and so will everyone else. Thanks.

This show is great. I agree Kari Ann did look dissociated. She’s also acting like a BPD (real borderline) and maybe drugs might be involved as well. I also agree that the not laughing thing seems to be coming from a real deep place of pain. I can’t stand Jill though. She’s not professional enough. Cracking up in a patient’s face is not appropriate regardless of what she may have been thinking. She’s a bit annoying as well and does not complement Dr. Drew’s style. I love Dr. Drew. All the other patients and their stories are very moving.

Kari Ann probably has a lot of issues we aren’t aware of just yet but my first impression of her is that she is a spolied little girl who probably always gets her way because she is a pain in the neck and no one will stand up to her. I hope for her sake she figures it out. It is quite clear however she doesn’t have an intelligent brain in her head and the only thing she can do is have sex with men because she is incapable of any sort of conversation. I am not a doctor of anything but this little girl should not be coddled, if she lipped off to me like she has to some of the other people there I would slap her right accross the face with a wide open hand. Let’s hope Dr. Drew can figure her out…….

I agree w/ Chris’s comment. This show highlights how unbelievably common sex abuse of children is & there should be an educational show attached to this one for people to learn how to protect their children from this. What an outrage it is to hear these stories & I have not yet heard one of these therapists ask what happened to the offender- did they ever get prosecuted or treatment?? Part of these victim’s ongoing struggle- I believe, is that they’re not getting reinforcement for holding their abusers held accountable. They tell their stories to sympathetic faces and that’s the end of it! Now this girl says she was abused from age 5-7 but it’s ‘not a problem’??? That’s the philosophy her perpetrator taught her to groom her to go along & it’s coming out of HER mouth 20 years later- like she really believes it!! If this perpetrator was held accountable & what happened to her was labeled as ABUSE from the get go- she might feel differently, but if these perps don’t get caught I think that hurts the victim’s thinking even more. This girl is still reliving her abuse everyday, trying to rectify in her mind why didn’t she refuse or repel those advances, which shows that she is blaming her (5 year old) self (internalized the offenders projection of blame) and is actively trying to repel everyone around her. She’s become her own worst enemy, stuck in a cycle of inhibiting other’s from feeling empathy for her (smiling like everything’s fine) which then justifyies her feelings of invalidation (what her offender projected) and isolation. As a therapist myself, I find her to be a perfect candidate for DBT. That clip where she was talking to the therapist about wanting to be isolated without really being isolated is a great example of a dialectical dilemma she’s grappling with & looking for more balance with these 2 extreme ways of dealing w/ people (sex contact vs. isolation).

Kari Ann is a complete )(_(_~!++*@%%&)@# to people and I hope she doesn’t stay on the show for their sake. Either way, YOU’RE NOTHING SPECIAL GIRL!

Kari Ann is a big baby starving for attention and throughs fits way too much. Everything is NOT about her and the world does not revolve around her. I feel bad for the others that have to spend their time there with her, I’d choke her if I had to live with her for a night.
November 19th, 2009 at 2:00 am
Kari Ann is a very self centered spoiled brat who thrives on being the center of attention, whether it’s good or bad. She is lashing out because everything that she thinks that she sees in everyone else is actually what she hates about herself. Her 2 year old fits are taking away from the healing process that the other patients are trying to accomplish. If she did not want to work on herself then why did she volunteer to do this, nobody tied her up and dragged her there, she made this choice herself. She needs to grow up and see that if she joined the group they would embrace her and it would be easier in her healing process.

kari anne seems to be a huge egomaniac. She actually believes jealousy is the reason none of the castmates have befriended her!? Actually it has more to do with her selfish, demanding, and condescending personality.
November 20th, 2009 at 3:42 pm
I cannot believe that anyone would try to stop this spoiled, paranoid, self-centered brat from leaving the show. I love Dr. Drew’s programs and appreciate that he is trying to help these addicts - but any teacher will tell you that you can only go as fast as the slowest kid in the room. I don’t know how any of the other patients can tolerate her presence.
