Are you in a high school chorus, choir, glee club or vocal group? If so, Foreigner, VH1 Save The Music and Ourstage are giving your group a shot at fame (well, 15 minutes!) and fortune ($1,000 big ones!). But you have to act fast. This music contest ends Wednesday, April 21. Details after the jump.

FOREIGNER, VH1 SAVE THE MUSIC AND OURSTAGE CAN’T SLOW DOWN THE MUSIC CONTEST

WHO: Foreigner, VH1 Save The Music Foundation, & OurStage

WHAT: Iconic rock band Foreigner has announced that they will raise funds and awareness for VH1 Save The Music to support the Foundation in their mission of restoring instrumental music education programs nationwide. The partnership is in tandem with the band’s “United In Rock” tour this summer, co-headlined with Styx and special guest, Kansas.

Joining forces for a unique community-based initiative, Foreigner and VH1 Save The Music, will also team with the premier online community-powered, new music discovery site, OurStage for the “Can’t Slow Down The Music” Competition. The competition invites eligible high school choruses, choirs, glee clubs, or vocal groups to upload a video of their group performing “In Pieces” from Foreigner’s latest album or “I Want to Know What Love Is” from their massive music catalog at www.ourstage.com/go/vh1stm. The winning group will receive one thousand dollars for their music program and the opportunity to perform “I Want To Know What Love Is” with the band on-stage when they touch down in their hometown.

WHEN: Eligible high school choruses, choirs, glee clubs, or vocal groups, grades 9 – 12, can enter, on a rolling basis beginning April 1, 2010. The competition finalists will be narrowed down through online voting, open to OurStage registrants and the winning group will then be picked by an independent panel of judges and announced in May and June.

WHERE: To enter, find out if you are eligible or for a complete set of competition rules and regulations visit: http://www.ourstage.com/go/vh1stm

WHY: With a long tradition of supporting causes that work to improve conditions for those in need, Foreigner is proud to support VH1 Save The Music as they work to provide all students with a complete education that includes music. Hailed as one of the biggest rock acts in the world, Foreigner’s music has shaped rock and roll across generations – the classic Foreigner songs that music teachers have grown up listening to can now be easily taught to the next generation of students because of the work of the foundation.
