Bridal Bootcamp – Trainer Francesca’s Recap – Episode 3

Like the cast members of Bridal Bootcamp, the trainers will be weighing in with their thoughts on the episodes. Above, the Green Team’s trainer Francesca Petrucci reflects on the third episode. Below are more thoughts from Francesa’s on-set journal…

We started week three by having to rise above our loss, not only the loss of the Marital Mission but also Kelley going home. Our focus and determination was still on and we were not going to feel defeated or distracted. We continued to train hard and some girls were starting to standing out. Not only setting themselves apart from the rest of the team physically but mentally as well. The one girl in particular was Kacey.

Kacey was the frontrunner and I made it known. I wanted her to be able to recognize her hard work and understand this is what it takes. She was the example that I wanted to set for the other girls to work up to. For Melissa she saw it as motivation and was up for the challenge. Lauren, on the other hand, saw it to be discouraging that all the praise was going to Kacey. She felt that she was not very athletic but still should be able to have the same opportunity at a dream wedding. Lauren and the other team members, except for Kacey, confronted me with their concerns. They all felt it was not fair for Kacey to have such praise. I explained it was not my intention to make them feel bad or discouraged, but more to make them look at Kacey as inspiration. They were all in the same team working together at this point of the competition and could be able to see her as motivation. Once we were able to talk things over all was good once more in our team.

For our third Marital Mission the girls had to take a green mattress run with it over their heads to the lake, place it in a raft, tug it all with two canoes around a buoy and back to shore. I was feeling real good about this mission. We had the advantage with the question and had also done some canoeing during the week. The girls sprinted to the lake and fell a little behind. The raft got stuck in the mud and Melissa needed help. I told Lauren and Kacey to get out of the canoe and help her. As they jumped out of the canoe it took on water. Apparently unlike a boat, if you jump out of a canoe in water it will tip and take on water. I did not know that. I am from New York and I don’t canoe. The girls with pure determination were able to finish the mission. They did not win, but they finished.

We were back in the Fitting Room two weeks in a row — not a good feeling. Once again one of my team members was going to leave Bridal Bootcamp. One by one the girls got weighted than it was Laurens turn. She stepped on the scale and saw she had gained 2 lbs. She was so upset. Crying she knew it was going to be her turn to go home and it was.

Lauren became a very good friend to me during her stay here at Bridal Bootcamp. We saw a lot of her crying, but believe she laughed much more. She is one of those special people with a heart of gold that we were all so lucky to have met. Lauren had also taught me a very valuable lesion: I may not always be understood even if my intentions were good and that is OK. I just have to listen to what someone has to say, and let them talk. It may not be what I want to hear but that is also okay. As long as we listen to one another we learn from each other it than it is all good.

What really frustrates me is that everyone +)$(##%!&&_~)!* umes that just because she gained two pounds that it automatically means she gained 2lbs of fat when muscle weighs more than fat so how do we not know that she was gaining muscle?
