Dance Cam Slam – Coming Soon To VH1

|

VH1 will launch its own take on dance-competition show when the viewer-generated Dance Cam Slam premieres Tuesday, October 26 at 10/9c. Details on the show and how you can be on it are in the press release below…

VH1 is looking for the most outrageously talented and wildly entertaining dancers from across the country to participate in a new weekly, multi-platform dance competition show. Dance Cam Slam is an all new VH1 original TV series where individual dancers and groups compete live via their home web cam for a chance to win a weekly prize of $5,000. Dance Cam Slam premieres on VH1 Tuesday, October 26 at 10:00 PM*.

Hosted by Marianela, each half-hour episode of Dance Cam Slam, will consist of three rounds. In the first two rounds contestants dance simultaneously to the same pop song on their home web cams. Our judges score the performances and declare a winner. The third and final round pits the winners from the night’s first two rounds against last week’s champion. Contestants will all appear in individual windows on a giant video screen in our Los Angeles studio. Judges score the dancers based on the overall entertainment value of their performance on a scale of one to ten and the best combined score moves on.

During the final round, viewers at home will vote live at DanceCam.VH1.com and by text messaging on VH1 Mobile to determine which of the three finalists will win the $5,000 cash prize and return next week to defend the crown. Viewers at home can also comment on the dancers live via Twitter and possibly even see their tweets appear in the show. Anyone with a web cam and a high speed internet connection can audition at DanceCam.VH1.com. The premiere episode of Dance Cam Slam airs on Tuesday, October 26 at 10:00 PM on VH1 immediately following that week’s episode of Dancing With The Stars.

“You don’t have to be a star dancing on a multi-million dollar set to be on our show. But you could become an overnight sensation from your own living room if VH1 viewers love your moves,” said Jeff Olde, Executive Vice President, Original Programming & Production, VH1. “We love that this show allows everyone to participate from either being contestants uploading high-energy performances or serving as voters delivering a real-time verdict before the episode ends. It’s another innovative way that our viewers can enjoy music and dance each week.”

VH1′s Dance Cam Slam is produced by Eyeboogie Inc. Executive producers are Woody Thompson, Ian Valentine and Kallissa Miller. Executive producers for VH1 are Shelly Tatro, Rick Hankey and Jeff Olde. Warren Cohen serves as Supervising Producer.
