Nicki Minaj’s off-kilter vocal multiplicity blasts the remix out of the gate; she big-ups tourmate Britney but mostly takes plenty more shots at Lil’ Kim: “I ain’t talking poultry when I say this chicken’s fried,” she spits, as chicken clucks punctuate a dubsteppy rework of the single’s beat.
After a bit of Britney’s verse, the four-on-the-floor beat returns on the wings of Ke$ha’s rendition of the chorus (which is well-delivered, but otherwise may as well have been from her demo of the song).
But don’t think the “remix” of the song only lasts 90 seconds: after two minutes, Ke$ha’s back, almost with a smirk, to sing a chopped-up “Keep on dancing till the world ends” that introduces a fifteen-second interjection of melody bits, Britney “ah”s, and, of course, a healthy dollop of sidechain compression, before the second chorus. The remixer has not yet been identified, but the fondness for Ke$ha’s winks and the frenetic slice-ups offer clues. Maybe DJ Cirkut?
