VH1 PUTS A RING ON FLAVOR UNIT’S SINGLE LADIES WITH SECOND SEASON RENEWAL

VH1’s First Hour-Long Scripted Drama Series Scores Big Ratings with Women

Season One Finale Airs Monday, August 8 at 9 p.m. ET/PT

Los Angeles, CA – July 18, 2011 – VH1 has greenlit a second season of the breakout scripted drama/comedy series Single Ladies. The network’s first hour-long scripted series, Single Ladies has become a certified hit, averaging 2.8 million total viewers during premiere plus first encore each Monday night. Paired with VH1’s unscripted series Basketball Wives, the network is ranked #1 on cable with women in the key 18-34 demo Monday nights (8pm-12am) on cable since both series’ May 30 premieres. The second season of Single Ladies is expected to begin filming in late 2011 and is slated for premiere in 2012.

“Our viewers have fallen for Single Ladies and its honest, modern take on love, female friendship and dating,” said Jeff Olde, Executive Vice President of Original Programming & Production, VH1. “We’re extremely pleased to give the audience another great season of the series they love.”

“My partner Shakim and I are so excited that Single Ladies has been received so well,” said Flavor Unit Entertainment Executive Producer Queen Latifah. “We knew from the beginning this show was going to appeal to people everywhere; it’s funny, sexy and smart. We are so happy that we were able to join with VH1 to find such a great home for this incredible show.”

Single Ladies is a modern, sexy ensemble series set in the world of Atlanta fashion, music, and celebrity starring Val (Stacey Dash), Keisha (LisaRaye McCoy) and April (Charity Shea) as three best friends with differing views on love and relationships. Val is an ambitious, aspiring fashion mogul who believes in fate, romance and finding that special someone to be with forever. Keisha is a former video dancer who believes in making her own luck, her own money and choosing men with her head instead of her heart. And April is learning that marriage is not always the fairy-tale it is cracked up to be. The series includes Christina (Kassandra Clementi) a free-spirited, wild child intern with an eye for fashion that Val takes under her wing. Single Ladies airs Monday nights at 9 p.m. ET/PT on VH1. Season one will finale on August 8.

Executive producers include Queen Latifah, Shakim Compere, and Shelby Stone for Flavor Unit Entertainment. Executive producers also include Maggie Malina, Alexander A. Motlagh for POPfilms, Stacy A. Littlejohn, and Tamra Davis. Executive producing for VH1 are Jill Holmes and Jeff Olde. Single Ladies is written and created by Stacy A. Littlejohn and directed by Tamra Davis.

  3. lisa says:

can you post the premier show i missed it i have been trying to wach it and it is not available.

  4. felisa says:

i like the show it has great cliff hanger however can you put someone else on the show that is more down to earth like a teacher or police officer friend who is cool/smart woman that can give them another perspective about dating and just life. I really can relate to the women to much but i get it.

  5. imagefirst says:

Yes I agree with Felisa’s comment. I like the show but yet the characters are so far out of reach for the average person it makes it feel more like a fairy tale..

  6. CarmaLacy says:

I love the show..The concept of three women who are real friends is very refreshing. The producer was smart in choosing actress that appeal to men and women. They picked characters that women can identify with and men want to see, A+ for marketing sense. Whoever the stylist is she/he is awesome! I am so excited there will be a season 2.

  7. JP Harrell says:

I totally love this show, it’s sexy glamorous and the storylines are not bad, at all! I can watch an episode over and over again, it seems I miss soemthing everytime I re-watch. So happy they have the green light for Season 2. Please keep it coming! Love, love all the characters.

  8. michelle says:

Love it, love it! Look forward to it every Monday. Please dont stop the maddness.

  9. Elle says:

I love this show even though the lead actresses seems to be so phony with each other. I still can’t help myself tuning in every Monday night…I think that this is not the best acting of LisaRaye McCoy. She was so much better in her previous roles. I am a fan of hers, I watched Players Club, All of Us, and her reality show so what I am saying is not meant with any ill intent. What is it that makes LisaRaye seem so fake in this I wonder? Girl you are the bomb (LisaRaye), what has you so distracted. That brother that plays your BF is fine though, is that it? I say it with knowledge that opinions are just like ***holes everyone has one and that’s all that this is..MY opinion.

  10. Lena says:

Would love to know where the clothes come from each episode.

  11. vr says:

I like to see more night club action and live singing. What about the girl with the funky hair that was walking in the park with malcolm? Is she an aspiring fashion intern as well? I Love that hair, seems more like the ATL style

  12. The Clothes Are HOT says:

Love the styling and clothing on this show. I like how there is the ongoing story of Keisha and her guy. It gives something to look forward to. We need some type of story line to follow…you know like soap operas. Keisha my fav, Val, then April. Keisha brings the humor in her own way. Val always dressed well, but then again she owns a clothing store! All the girls are dressed great for their characters. Some days one sticks out more than the other. Somedays they are all even steven. The story line is sometimes to fluffy, no depth, but hopefully get better. Hire some more writers to your team. Really good ones. But the show seems to be developing as it goes along more and more.

  13. Try this says:

Maybe let the characters add their own take/lines sometimes. Sometimes it sounds like they have a script memorized. Lisa Raye sounds realistic. I forget what they call that, when actors kind of ad their own take to the regular lines. Do whatever, but find a formula that works!

  14. Marcia says:

    I love this show !!! I cant wait until season 2 !!!

  15. Outdone & Too Through says:

    Okay Ladies,

In referring to the single ladies of this show, I have to use that term “very lightly”. Last night, they pulled out all the stops and went into “soft porn” just about every scene a sex scene and if not it was some pretty “raunchy” conversations about it. The show doesn’t have to be all about sex. Can we see some real relationship issues that “real women” deal with. Why all the glamour and the act like a straight up hoe. I am so outdone with this show. You lost one viewer last night. And the homo guy is too much. Stay in the closet with that “it is so unnatural” and disgusting. I’m writing this show off as “TRASH”. Filthy Trash. Hope you can sleep at night influencing an already sick society with this mess!!!!!! GET SOME CLASS BLACK PEOPLE!

  16. Patrize says:

I love the show……I like all the characters an Im glad its coming back for a second season but I see you said all the women an nothing about db woodside an honestly alot of women viewers do watch the show because hes on it…(especially me). The choice that the writers have made for the characters love interest are good I hope you bring him back to the show cause he is a very interesting guy an it keeps getting better and better to me . Good job writers I wanna know whats in store for malcom in season 2 hopefully.

  17. Shirley says:

Thank God, for Single Ladies. Finally, a show with good looking, fashionable, classy ladies! I’m so tired of these Housewifves shows and Basketball chicks setting us back years. BIG UP to Queen Latifah for a great show. Love the decor and all the fabulous clothes.

  18. LovelyLisa says:

Love the show Stacy A. Littlejohn (Writer) but can you add more women of color and less white chicks? You can find white chicks on every single chanel; as I stated in my previous post Native American women and Asian women are beautiful and they would make great interns or co-friends.

  19. Milla says:

Please get rid of the young White girl! Her storylines are weak, and she serves no purpose in the show except to provide some youth, and experimental, free-loving sex. She’s not attached to any of her lines, and she’s not convincing at all.

  20. Sharla4728 says:

I love this show- I’m a bonafide fan.. SOOO glad it’s back for a 2n season. Keep up the GREAT work!!!!

  21. Tasha flennaugh says:

Wish I could snap my finger and make the second season come soon.!!!!!!!!! Queen you have out done your self with this one.

  22. Encreea says:

I love the show. I love the fashion and I have to say I love all the characters all except the young intern. Im so happy it is coming back for a second season. HURRY!

  28. Elia says:

I love this show and would like to see it come back!

  29. Denise says:

I really enjoyed the show, It’s a really mature show that is sexy, funny, and down to earth regarding the story lines. The show resonates with me and so many other on several fronts. The writing is excellent, and the cast is excellent as well. I truly hope that fences can be mended and issues resolved. I hope Stacy Dash returns to the show.

Single Ladies is really one of the best shows I’ve seen in quite a while and it deserves to be picked up and put on the air. You don’t get to see good television like this anymore especially with a cast that is majorityt African American. I can’t wait to see the new season.

Much success to the creators who really knocked this one out of the park.

Again, I love the show and I anticipate it’s return.

    Denise
