Mob Wives – Episode 3 – Fight, Scream, Pull Hair, Kiss, Make Up, And Keep It Moving

This week on Mob Wives, Big Ang proves that she can lend a helping hand, or whatever else her friends might need.

Yes, we’re obsessing a little over Big Ang these days, and luckily for us, she gets her biggest episode yet this week. The show starts off with Drita meeting up with her for a drink to discuss the big fight from last week. You remember, the one so insane that I couldn’t actually breathe for about 20 minutes?

“I haven’t seen you since the melee,” Drita tells Big Ang when they meet up. “That was out of control and retarded,” Big Ang replies succinctly.

Big Ang may not look like it, but she’s a flower child, a peace-lover, a hippie, really. She just wants everyone to get along, man! But she has her own way of putting that:”I think everybody’s acting a little stupid, very immature, a lot of bulls— over nothing. Get over it already, Jesus!” she says.

Big Ang suggests to Drita that they get Carla and Renee together for drinks in Manhattan to work out their differences. Ang and Drita both think Carla had no excuse for not calling Renee after her surgery, but they also know she had her reasons. Drita likens getting two people together who are fighting to swimming with sharks…and she should know, because usually she’s Jaws.

Ramona visits Renee to apologize for Karen and Drita’s fight, reiterating that it wasn’t the time or place, and then likening Drita to a farm animal-slash-animal circus. “Why does every girl I know gotta be a tough guy?” Renee asks, explaining that she is so very tired of the fighting. “You know what ladies? We cross our legs. Enough with the tough guy bulls—.” Ramona also claims to hate fighting, but true to this show, the ones who claim to hate it the most are the ones who engage in it the most or say the most threatening things. Like how Ramona later says “We can fight if you wanna fight, but I’ll let you know straight up that you might as well pick out your gravestone now.” Is it me, or do Ramona’s threats chill anyone else to the bone? Last week she said she wanted to “charcoal” Derek Tobacco, and now this. I don’t even know Ramona but I keep looking over my shoulder for her, she is hardcore.

Ramona also has no love for Carla, whom she calls a lackey that basically just trails Drita around. “Carla’s brain is being molded by Drita,” Ramona says. Renee, however, is trying really hard to work on things with Carla, and goes through the therapeutic and calming process of writing Carla a letter to reach out to her…

…Until! Until she receives a call from her friend Nikole, who basically undoes everything. Nikole doesn’t understand why Renee would reach out to Carla who ignored Renee after she flatlined and basically was dead in the hospital and the least she could have done was send Renee a “f***in’ rose.” Nikole thinks Carla’s heartless and disrespectful, and that fires Renee up all over again. “This ‘being the bigger person’ thing is harder than I thought,” Renee says.

Speaking of “Big” people, let’s bring this back to Big Ang, who’s at home making the most delicious-looking hangover food imaginable. Let’s stop to appreciate that she might have been drunk as a skunk mere hours ago and she has no idea that she even went to a second bar, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t capable of whipping up some sausages with pappardelle and red sauce in no time. Also, Elmo. ELMO!!

As many of you have seen from this clip before, Ang loves two things in equal measure, wise guys and plastic surgery. She tells her friend Linda that she really wants to get more surgery, a face lift specifically,

and Linda tells her no, she really shouldn’t get that but if she must, she should go to the Ukraine.
Ang has like, no idea what Linda is talking about.

“The Ukraine? I don’t even know how far is that? If we die they would never find us!” Just one of the many quips and one-liners Big Ang is going to be famous for, folks.

We also get a little bit of the Ramona origin myth in this episode too and learn her back story while she and Karen go out for a night at the hookah bar.

We already know she has a mob family pedigree, but interestingly enough, Ramona says she refused to marry anyone in the mob lifestyle, so she married a Middle Eastern man and spent several years living the high life, visiting places like Dubai, I’m assuming she probably hung out with Tom Cruise while he was there scaling buildings for Mission Impossible, she was basically living the high life. Unfortunately, her husband went into business with the mob (is she allowed to tell us this on TV? I mean, wouldn’t he appreciate it if she didn’t?) so she divorced him. She’s now with a new boyfriend that she’s in love with. Later, however, I feel that their love might be tested after they both get thrown in jail. We’ll get to that.

Drita’s looking into selling her home because she really wants to escape the memories of Lee, and she doesn’t want to be in such a big house. Which is funny because we’re sure Lee doesn’t want to be in THE big house. But anyway. She has a realtor come by to look at it and give a tour, and points out the “guest bedroom,” a.k.a. “Lee’s Room,” a.k.a. The Room That Shall Not Be Entered.

Drita breezes past it and admits she hasn’t even been in that room for years. WHAT’S IN THAT ROOM? I can’t believe we’re just gonna let that slide, people! I really hope we delve into that a little more later this season.

“In my heart and in my mind, I’m already divorced, so I’m free to do whatever I want,” Drita says, which is why she hasn’t let Lee know her plans to sell the house. (And yet she still doesn’t open the door to the secret room! There could be feral raccoons living in there, or a secret portal to Narnia. Dammit, Drita, open the door!) Unfortunately, Drita hasn’t told her daughters her divorce plans. Its hard enough when she tells Aleeyah, her nine-year-old, that she plans to sell their house.

At nine, Aleeyah probably hasn’t watched House Hunters marathons like I have, so she doesn’t know the concept of “downsizing,” but she seems really nervous at the thought of a smaller house. It’s safe to say the girl is probably intuiting that her mom isn’t expecting her dad to come home any time soon. “All I keep thinking is when I tell her about her father and I getting a divorce, she’s gonna be destroyed,” Drita says.

Drita’s also trying other ways of shooing Lee out of her life, so she hits up the jeweler to get rid of some gifts that Lee had given her, including her engagement ring

which, it turns out, is worth over $100k. I know, Drita can’t believe it either.

“He left me with heartache, he left me as a single mother, at least he left me with some money to move on,” she says. I’ll say.

Drita, Big Ang, Carla and Renee all meet up for their pow-wow and right off the bat, things seem like they’re going to get ugly. Renee barely sits down before she starts to get into it with Carla, asking her why she didn’t acknowledge how sick Renee was. They go back and forth with their reasons until Renee does in fact become the bigger person and she tells Carla “Let’s end this conversation with a period.” Renee is going to let bygones be bygones. But in the meantime, everyone is smokin’,

partying, and just having a blast.

Though Renee doesn’t give Carla the letter she wrote while they’re there, she comes over to Carla’s days later and reads it to her,

telling Carla that she’s not willing to lose their friendship. In their world, good friends “Fight, scream, pull hair, kiss, make up, and keep it moving.”

Renee is all about working on her relationships this week, so not only does she fix things with Carla, but she and Junior have a date where they work on some of their problems.

(The biggest one being his cheating habit, which he claims he never knew hurt Renee so much..sigh. Men are either idiots or really good at believing what they need to, amirightladies? Sorry, I just don’t buy that he has no idea his sleeping with other women would make Renee sad.) ANYWAY. This is not womens’ studies, this is Mob Wives, (although really, there could easily be a new area of womens’ studies that covers how women on reality television have influenced our culture, right? I mean, this course would have to be taught on Twitter, but still) so after some honesty, some crying, and some oysters on the half shell, Renee and Junior agree to go steady.

Karen, who has been relatively quiet all episode, has been worried because she hasn’t heard from Ramona for days, and that’s not like her. When she finally gets a call, it’s for all the wrong reasons.

Ramona regales Karen with a story about how an unmarked car pulled her over on the highway and all of a sudden, she and her boyfriend were ambushed by seven cop cars and they were thrown in jail.

What the eff? And I refuse to believe that on next week’s episode, the biggest drama is that Junior left crumbs on the counter and Renee is freaking out over that. I’m gonna need to know more about this jail situation before Junior gets a lesson in how to use Mr. Clean Magic Eraser.
