T.I. And Tiny: The Family Hustle – Episode 7 – I’m The King Of This House

At last, an entire episode dedicated to this face! Unfortunately, sometimes King isn’t the angel he appears to be.

Every week we learn more and more about how this family operates, and it’s an educational look at how a functional family runs. This week, we focus on King (yay!), but behind his adorable, toothless exterior lies a still adorable, but occasionally bossy and spoiled little seven-year-old.

Since T.I. was in prison and raising six children alone was daunting, Tiny followed the “It takes a village” credo and her mother, Mamaw, took King in. “Upon my return, King has not been able to wean himself off of Mamaw’s house,” Tip explains. King and Mamaw have a mutual love for each other that’s kind of amazing (although I can understand where, if you’re T.I. and Tiny, you’d want your kid back). He loves staying with her and she loves having him. When Tameka and her mother meet up to discuss, Mamaw agrees that she spoils him, but that Tameka was also spoiled by her.

King is so used to her undivided attention that he calls them at dinner

and then he tells Tiny to “tell her to bring her butt home early” because he missed her, and Mamaw practically does a spit take.

When King returns home, he declares “I’m the king of this house!” His behavior starts to get worse and worse, first he tries to steal some bacon from his mother while she cooks breakfast, then he confesses that he started eating while his dad blessed their food,

and then he says the word “nuts” during the meal.
Major will not stand for this.

Tip decides that to keep the kids’ feet on the ground and make them feel less like kings, he’s going to show them the neighborhood where he grew up which was significantly more humble than his own. “I’m going to show them a little struggle. Gonna let them see what life is like on the flip side.”
They visit T.I.’s grandfather’s house where he lived as a kid and we get to see some adorable pictures of Tip as a child and teen. As a kid, he looked exactly like Domani does now, doesn’t he?

While Tip shows the boys through his old digs, showing them the tiny room where he used to sleep and the old houses of his parents’ friends, Domani and Messiah seem to understand the humble roots, but King seems more interested in beating the tar out of Major.

On the ride home, Tip tries to teach the boys that “If you don’t know where you’ve been, you won’t know where you’re going,” but they all have headphones on, so I’m not sure anyone heard that.

When they get home, we learn why King keeps saying he’s the king of the house. And it’s all T.I.’s fault.

“In my absence,” he says, “I told King he was the king of the house.”

Oh. So there you go. “I was hoping to instill responsibility in him, to the women and his little brother.” But that didn’t work so well. When Tiny tells him to pick up his clothes, he sasses her, saying

Oh, yes he did.
“Rome wasn’t built in a day, King can’t be fixed in a day,” Tip says. But even while he’s being fixed, he still manages to be darn cute.

I love this show! Tiny is a sweetheart and I see why TI loves her. King is so funny but he needs his a$$ cut. Tell Tiny to kick Shekinah to the curb. She’s clearly jealous and ghetto as heck. Other than that, you guys are awesome!

Loving your show. . . especially how well you all handle day to day live w/ managing a blended family. Now, I hope this is not taken the wrong way but King needs a good behind whippin. While I do understand using whippins, spankings, or whatever you want to call as a last resort, from the outside looking in, I would say it appears that King has earned his turn for a good butt smackin. Pray God continues to bless the two of you and your family.
