Big news in the world of the Do Something! Awards, because we’ve just learned that the hosts of this year’s award show are some of our favorite actors. The men from New Girl (that would be actors Jake Johnson, Max Greenfield and Lamorne Morris) will be co-hosting the ceremony which will air on VH1 on Tuesday, August 21 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. You can still vote for the nominees who will appear on the show as well right here, but for more info about the awesomely hilarious hosts who will certainly bring the chut-a-ney, read the full press release below.

NEW YORK, NY (June 26, 2011) — Who says you can’t smile while changing the world? and VH1 today announced that this year’s 2012 DoSomething Awards will be taped at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica and premiere Tuesday, August 21st, 2012 at 9PM EST. Hosted by New Girl stars Jake Johnson, Max Greenfield, and Lamorne Morris, the high energy show celebrates amazing social change leaders. Celebrities such as David Beckham, Justin Bieber, Will Ferrell and others received honors last year for their good works. In addition to a night of hot celebrities and performances, one young “do-er” (age 25 and under) will receive a grand prize of $100,000 for his or her cause. “This isn’t your grandma’s award show. We think social change is far more rock-n-roll than violins. More “Schmidt” than “Anderson Cooper.” said Nancy Lublin, CEO and Chief Old Person of DoSomething.org. http://www.DoSomething.org “We’re thrilled to once again present the Do Something Awards. And with New Girl being one of the hottest shows of the year, we think our hosts Jake, Max and Lamorne will set exactly the right tone,” said Tom Calderone, President, VH1. “This awards show is truly like no other. We were so encouraged by the huge star power that came out to support us last year. Instead of a recycled newspaper suit, I am going to create one of recycled cans… it will be noisy, but cool!” This year’s show is executive produced by Michael Dempsey for Dempsey Productions and Lee Rolontz for VH1. Nancy Lublin and Naomi Hirabayashi oversee the awards show for DoSomething.org.
We love teens. They are creative, active, wired…and frustrated that our world is so messed up. DoSomething.org harnesses that awesome energy and unleashes it on causes teens care about. Almost every week, we launch a new national campaign. The call to action is always something that has a real impact and doesn’t require money, an adult, or a car. With a goal of 5 million active members by 2015, DoSomething.org is one of the largest organizations in the US for teens and social change. Join us at dosomething.org.
