Anyone who watched last season of Basketball Wives L.A. knows that one of the mottoes of Jackie and Doug Christie is “If you’re always planning a wedding, you’ll never have time to plan a divorce.” And in keeping with their annual tradition, they just held their seventeenth wedding recently, and Jackie shared some exclusive pictures with us from the equality-themed day, you can see more of them below, after the jump.
The ceremony was held in a gay nightclub in West Hollywood, CA because they wanted to show their support for gay marriage. In a statement, Jackie and Doug explained their commitment to marriage equality, writing:
As life-long supporters of the gay community, Doug and I remain humbled by the overwhelming love, acceptance and friendship they have extended with open arms while treating us like family,” Jackie Christie said at the ceremony, according to a statement. “As we celebrate 17 years of marriage, it weighs heavy on our hearts that the same love shared by many of our friends is considered “less than” and is not widely recognized due to antiquated laws, lack of acceptance, and misperceptions, among other discriminatory factors. Tonight was nothing less than a celebration of the recent advancements made in the fight for Marriage Equality, but also a reminder of the work that still needs to be done. Until that battle is won, Doug and I will remain soldiers on the frontlines.
Jackie gave us a few more details of the wedding as well: she had two maids of honor and three bridesmaids, there was one best man and three groomsmen, and the ceremony was officiated by friend Chris Robinson. The theme of the night was “vintage fashion,” and Jackie’s dress was designed by Oleg Cassini. The desserts, featured among the photos below, were from Candy Crush Events. Flowers were from L.A. shop Flour LA. We’re thrilled that Jackie shared her photos with us, the wedding will be featured on the next season of Basketball Wives L.A.
