Stevie J Has An Answer For Everyone Who Wonders If He’s A Sociopath: Backstage Love And Hip Hop Atlanta Reunion Interview

Love & Hip Hop Atlanta Reunion Backstage With Stevie J

On stage at the Love and Hip Hop Atlanta reunion is where all the hilarity and drama unfolded. But backstage is where the cast were surprisingly open when asked the tough questions about their personal lives. While Stevie J waited for the taping to begin he took a few moments with us and was pleasantly sincere. And quite the charmer. He chatted with us about his aspirations to start a sex toy line (which didn’t make it into this interview), side chicks vs. main chicks, Mimi knowing he was like this from jump, and what he has to say for the armchair psychologists that have concluded he’s a sociopath. Right off the bat, Stevie J reiterates who runs the show, proving he is clearly still the driver of the bus.

You said that you add on to what you already have going on and everybody plays by the rules. What if Mimi or Joseline decided to do the stuff that you do? Would you care?

I’m a man, you know what I’m saying? I make the rules and they don’t do what I do, they do what I ask them to do.

So that means they can’t cheat?

Nah.

Are you prepared to say who’s the main girl and who’s the side chick?

I mean, Mimi’s definitely on top.

She’s the main girl?

Yeah. I mean you gotta look at the whole scenario, baby girl.

Joseline is checking Mimi on the show. It seems like she’s the main girl because what side chick is going come at the main chick if they know their place?

One that’s been d*ckmatized.

So that’s what it is?

You know, it is what it is. And besides that if you’ve been dealing with somebody and they’ve given you a career from nothing to something major in a matter of months, how are you going to accept the man? What are you going to do for the man who turns your whole world around? And then make sure you’re doing everything right. Make sure you’re eating, make sure you’re working out, your body’s fabulous. Now you’ve got money in your pocket. You’ve got a lustrous career on the way. What would you be like?

I’m going to plead the fifth on that one. Is Mimi okay with how things are now? With this three-way love triangle?

It’s like, everything will balance itself out I’m sure. You know, we have our days where everything is cool and then everything is explosive. I’m just believing that it’s all gonna balance out.

Do you love both of them?

I do.

Who are you in love with if you had to choose one?

You know, it’s like, Mimi got my daughter. Mimi’s been down with me through ups and downs.

And Joseline is new…

Joseline’s new to this. So it’s like we’re still testing loyalty right now. I know she down with me, but it’s still early in the game. Fifteen years is a long time.

Yeah, it is. Do you think that you are a liar like the therapist said?

I’ve been just like everyone else has been. Everybody lies more than a hundred times a day about something.

You actually own up to the things you do?

Absolutely.

Okay. Do you think a three-way relationship could work long-term?

Yes, if I choose that. It’s whatever I choose to work is gonna work. Whatever I believe and whatever I want to work is gonna work.

Are you and Joseline engaged?

I’m not engaged.

Mimi was interviewed and asked about that rumor and she was like, “Ugh, please.” What do you think about that response?

She know her daddy, you know what I’m sayin’?

What did you mean when you told Mimi she could never leave you?

I meant what I said.

But explain it to me.

If I say, “Yo, you’re not going anywhere,” What does that sound like? You’re not goin’ nowhere, right? That’s what I meant. She can’t leave, so what does that mean? She can’t go nowhere.

You just have that much control or power?

I wouldn’t say control. I have been a controlling man at points in my life. But it’s all about how I carry myself and how I handle my business as far as dealing with her, dealing with my daughter. It’s that physical connection and everything, you know?

What do you think makes them stay? You’re just that dude? What else? There has to be something else.

I cook, I’m a great dude. I’m a great father. I’m sitting down at the piano singing to them, playing the guitar for them. You know, what else could you ask for? I’m a neat freak, and I handle my business.

Do you think you’re a manipulator?

Oh no, I’m just blessed.

Let’s switch gears a bit. What did you think about Benzino and Karlie‘s relationship?

Well, you know, he just rushing, he just rushing in, you know what I’m sayin’? You have to see what happens. I’m a very calculated dude. I think about it, I’m just a wild type of dude and he’s a kisser. You know, I’m not a kisser, he just goes deep in.

[Laughs] What relationship advice would you give to another man that might be in your situation?

Put it all on the table.

And then they have a choice. Is that what you feel deep down? Like you’re giving them a choice since they know what’s up?

Yeah. If I put it on the table, you can make an assessment thereafter.

So Mimi knew from jump what it was when dealing with you?

Yeah.

Always?

No question.

This is not something new to her.

This ain’t nothing new.

Okay. If a guy was treating your sister or daughter the way you’ve treated Joseline and Mimi, what advice would you give the women?

See, I can’t say that. With me and my daughters it’s like they’re my daughters, I’m their dad. I’m not their man. So I give them advice on how to be happy. You know what I’m saying? What’s good for me might not be good for the next one. Or what’s good for you might not be good for my daughters so every case is a case-by-case scenario. But just be happy, that’s the advice I would give.

What would you want people to know about you that they probably didn’t get to see on the show?

I’m a great guy. I’m fun, I’m a great cook, I’m a great dad, you know, and I’m a hell of a producer.

What do you say to people — I’ve heard this a lot online — that you are the clinical definition of a sociopath? You’ve heard that one too?

No, but you know those that say that, they have sociopath tendencies themselves.

Oh, really?

Everyone has sociopath tendencies.

You’ve read up on this subject?

You know, I study human beings.

Okay. Alright.

You might be a sociopath.

I don’t think so. [Laughs]
