What’s It Like To Be The Wife Of A Little Person Or A Gay-For-Pay Porn Star? Find Out On I’m Married To A…

I'm Married To A...
Tonight’s premiere of I’m Married To A… was a learning experience. An occasionally shocking one (yes, there are wives out there who are cool with their husbands doing gay porn), an occasionally frustrating one (why must we all judge others so harshly? Even straight, married guys who do gay porn??) and a sweet one (it’s nice to see real people looking past cultural norms and differences, isn’t it?). We met two couples whose paths are definitely outside the norms and conventions we’re used to, and we learned why it’s so important to say “F you” to the world at large who might judge us for seeming weird. Let’s take a look at the couples and their stories.

Marty and Michelle
I'm Married To A...
“My typical type was 6′ 3″ muscle-bound guys,” Michelle explains at the beginning of “I’m Married To A…” So who is Michelle married to?

Marty, a little person (who you may recognize from his work in Hollywood, most notably in the Pirates Of The Carribean films) whose stature defies Michelle’s type. Although a lot of Michelle’s friends had questions at first about dating a little person, the big question people want to know is how Marty is in bed. “I always tell people ‘vertically challenged, horizontally gifted,” Marty jokes. “That’s disgusting,” Michelle tells him.

Clearly his pipes work because the couple is expecting their first child together, and one of the unknowns thus far is whether the baby will be average or little. But regardless of the baby’s size, Marty’s size still proves to be a challenge on occasion, like when they go shopping for baby supplies and he struggles to lift the seat out of a carriage.

Marty’s best friend, Leslie, is also a little person and she explains the stigma behind “the M-word” for little people. “The word midget is a derogatory word that’s outdated and inaccurate.” She’s the mother of two children who are also little, so she has been helping Marty navigate the field of soon-to-be parenthood as a little person. “I think he wants an average-sized child,” Michelle tells Leslie. “I want to be able to see my kid not be prohibited from doing something he wants to do,” Marty clarifies. “I don’t want my child to be excluded.”

The big question the couple faces is whether or not to visit a prenatal specialist who will tell them whether or not the child will be little or average height. Marty doesn’t necessarily want to find out, and Michelle isn’t pushing him. “If it’s average height, the child will have a great life, and if it’s little I think the child will have a great life. I don’t care at all if the baby’s average or little. Doesn’t matter,” she says. “She’ll be perfect either way.”

Nick and Becky

“Besides that little, minor detail of his career, we’re your every day couple,” Becky explains, referencing her husband’s somewhat odd job. So who is Becky married to?

Nick. A heterosexual guy who happens to be an actor in gay porn films who goes by the name Reese Rideout.

While Becky goes off to her job running a bakery, Nick stays at home to film himself in live nude chats with men. He’s “gay for pay” and that doesn’t bother Becky one bit. Nick got his start as a professional bodybuilder which led to a spread in Playgirl, which led to sex videos and ultimately, his career as a film star. Though Becky has no problem with Nick having sex with men, when he dabbled in straight porn and had sex with women, that was actually difficult for her. “That, to me, was cheating,” she says. Even though she says she’s as happy as a couple can possibly be, it seems like Becky might still have her reservations, at least judging from her body language.

She also has a hard time actually telling people what Nick’s profession is (who wouldn’t?) but she says it’s because her family is pretty reserved and it sounds like they, along with much of the world, might not understand. “I’m just afraid of losing friends.”

So by now, Nick had bonked over 50 guys, which is exponentially more than the number of women he’s had sex with. “I’m not having sex with men because I enjoy it, I’m doing it to provide,” he says. “Playing with my **** makes more money than trying to get some job somewhere.” (He later admits that he knows this is a “f—ed up way of” getting famous, but he does a lot of f—ed up things.)

One problem, a hilarious problem to actually watch it happen, but a problem that cramps Becky’s style, is that Nick, a.k.a. Reese works from home, and on days like this one where she forgets her shoes in the bedroom while Nick is “performing,” she has to find creative ways not to disrupt his work.

Nick also travels to L.A. once a month to film a porno (from which he makes $4,000 a pop), and he explains that Becky stays separate from that — she doesn’t ask about it, he doesn’t tell her about it, and he never wears his wedding ring to L.A. when he’s filming. While Nick is away, doing this

Becky calls her cousin who she’s close to and decides to finally reveal the truth about his job, which is something she’s been lying about for seven years. Becky is terrified of breaking a bond with some of the only close family she has, but it’s time they know the truth. They know Nick models and strips, but when she tells her cousin that Nick also does gay porn, her cousin is definitely surprised.

Fortunately, her cousins main concerns are that Becky gets “what she needs” from Nick, and that he uses condoms. When her cousin asks if she’s ever been ashamed of it, Becky admits she used to question it but now she’s just happy to have a great husband who makes a great living. “Bottom line, overall, you’re happy right? That’s all that matters,” her cousin tells her. On this show, it’s true, and these couples are living proof of it.
