The Love And Hip Hop series has taken a road trip down to the dirty south—Atlanta to be exact—for an all new cast whose lives revolve around love and hip-hop.
Stevie J is a GRAMMY winning songwriter that has worked with everyone from Puffy to Jay-Z to Mariah Carey. His girlfriend of 15 years, Mimi, yearns for the family unit with Stevie J and their two-year-old daughter, but getting him to settle down has been quite the task.
Master Matchmaker Steve Ward is back for another season of Tough Love, and each week, he’ll be giving us an exclusive look at what went down behind the scenes on the series. This week, we discussed the awkwardness that comes with meeting your girlfriend’s parents. All the guys handled things well, but it got pretty awkward for a few of them.
I want to ask you what you thought of Shalana’s mom in this episode, telling her grandson that Aubrey would be his new step-dad.
That’s what I call a deterrent, not to mention when guys meet a woman’s mother, they imagine that’s what the woman is going to turn herself into. I’m just saying, the mom didn’t help matters at all.

Devastating news to report today, as we just learned about the sudden death of Rodney King. The former Celebrity Rehab patient was found dead in his swimming pool Sunday and paramedics were unable to revive him. An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.
King gained notoriety in 1991 when he was beaten by four Los Angeles police officers after a car chase. The beating was caught on tape and the officers’ subsequent trial and acquittal were the fuel for the L.A. riots in 1994. (The story of the riots was recently documented in the VH1 Rock Doc Uprising: Hip Hop And The L.A. Riots, which King also appeared in.) King gained even more recognition when he appeared on Celebrity Rehab in 2008, and most recently, he appeared in an episode of Celebrity Rehab Revisited. King is survived by his fiancee, Cynthia Kelly and his three children. Our thoughts go out to all his loved ones at this time.
