One of the biggest points of contention between Renee Graziano and Carla Facciolo this season on Mob Wives has to do with Renee’s dependence on prescription pills. Renee has boldly stated that she sought help for her prescription drug use, and her rehab treatment will be featured on the show later this season. But when Carla accuses Renee of being a “junkie” in episode one, that doesn’t sit well with Renee one bit.
While some of us might think the term “junkie” could be used as a catch-all for anyone using drugs, Renee tells the New York Daily News exactly why Carla’s accusation hurt her. “Growing up the way we did, and especially mob, ‘junk’ meant heroin. And for me that was a big stigma,” she explains. Renee has no problem discussing her treatment, she just wants Carla to address it in a more respectful (and, to Renee, a more accurate) way. “She called me a junkie and I said, ‘Call me my drug of choice if you don’t mind, call me a pill popper — watch how you talk to me.'”
