GUEST BLOG: Sharon Shares 5 Lessons From The Gossip Game Finale

3) There are two ways to handle a verbal attack from a hater: remain cool and collected or let her have it. Angela’s uncomfortable exchange with K. Foxx could have turned ugly if she’d ‘risen’ to the Hot 97 host’s level as Foxx had requested. As Kay began to get visibly riled up, Ang conducted herself in a laid-back manner while still managing to get her point across – plus throw in a few smart jabs, too. It was obvious who came out on top. However, my Drama experience required a slightly different approach. Acting up as per usual, the blogger began the conversation in a rude, condescending tone that I had to check immediately. What I’d hoped would be a “woman to woman” conversation quickly became a “woman to warthog” battle. Drama got plain disrespectful with the name-calling so it was time to firmly put her in her place, like a lady of course, then make my grand exit ;-).

2) The higher the risk, the greater the reward: I know it’s been a tough decision for Kim to abandon her high-powered position at The Source, especially with the financial responsibilities she continues to face as a mother, but finding the greatest level of success often involves the biggest risks. Kim has realized that working for somebody else’s company and building somebody else’s brand just isn’t fulfilling for her anymore, so she’s following her heart and her passion to start her own website. Kim’s ready to let her voice be heard loud and clear as a woman in hip hop; a voice we don’t hear from enough. I have a good feeling that this gutsy move is going to pay off for her big time.

1) Embrace the hate and create the love: K. Foxx’s insults towards me, Angela and Vivian could have stung but instead of dwelling on the negativity we decided to make it work in our favor. Fake, conceited, a bitch? Though none of Foxx’s disses have any truth to them, we took the power out of her words, laughed at them and then owned them. And so was born the FCB – a paradoxical sisterhood of fake, conceited bitches. Instead of being able to tear us down, Kay has actually brought us together and given us strength. Thanks girl. FCB for life!!!
