The people have spoken and basically, you’ve all declared your love for Mob Wives‘ newest star, Big Ang.
We gave you a little primer on all things Big Ang-related last night after the show, and today, we’re sharing some of our favorite wit, wisdom, and pictures that she’s shared thus far on Twitter, and some of the best fan tweets (AND A FAN TATTOO) in her honor. And if you aren’t already following Big Ang on Twitter (@BiggAngVH1), what are you waiting for??
This episode of Baseball Wives includes elements that we’ve come to know and love from these women: improv class, parties where someone was left out, some kind of group modeling scenario, and someone hate-baking something for someone else. Also, Tanya’s butt.
Angela “Big Ang” Raiola was virtually unknown before she made her debut on the season premiere of Mob Wives last Sunday, but she has certainly won the hearts of anyone who was watching. Big Ang was only on the screen for a few moments as she tried to get her friends Karen and Drita to reconcile and repair their friendship, but it was enough to get people talking and wonder just who she is. First off, here’s her bio, in case you haven’t checked her out on our show page already:
Angela Raiola aka “Big Ang” is the niece of Salvatore “Sally Dogs” Lombardi, a deceased captain of the Genovese crime family. Angela, a single mother of two was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, with her two sisters and four brothers. Big Ang always strived to be popular with “the mob.” She is what many consider a mob moll. Owning many mafia hangouts over the years, she became like “one of the guys” – even catching a case with some high ranking members of the mob. She was loved by them all. She is like a character straight from the movie Goodfellas and lives by the lifestyle code. Ang has dated many gangsters throughout her life but has always remained independent. She is not the typical women who would depend on a man. Big Ang has managed to make her own way and provide her own means within this world, though she was always lavished with houses, cars, jewelry, furs (you name it) by many well known mob wise guys. One would believe that they call her Big Ang for “E Cups” or her even larger lips, but is really because of her larger than life personality. She is hysterically funny without even meaning to be. Often referring to herself as “bad girl” she will have you laughing upon meeting her and keep you laughing until you leave.
And of course, here’s a press clip we pulled together to see her in action in an upcoming episode. What else do we know about Big Ang? A few facts we’ve dug up:
Despite being on the show, she still bartends at (the gloriously named) Drunken Monkey bar on Staten Island.
She loves the weekend.
She’s a grandmother.
She attended the 2011 Divas Celebrates Soul show with her castmates, the lady can sure rock a fedora.
Her daughter is a teacher.
Her new year’s resolution was to quit smoking.
We’ll learn more about Big Ang as the season goes on, but for now, let’s embrace this moment before she becomes super famous and we can say we were the first to discover her and that infectious, amazing laugh.
Come out, come out, wherever you are, Derek Tobacco!
Like many of the fans of Mob Wives, we obsess over the stars of the show and like to follow along on Twitter and our VH1 Co-Star app to see how the cast reacts in real time when they watch their episodes. Most nights, we’re simultaneously glued to our TVs and computers at the same time, it seems. Tonight was one of those nights though where, if you’ve been watching Mob Wives and the absolute insanity that’s been going down between Karen and Drita (and Ramona and Renee…and everyone else), it’s really paid off to see how the women have responded. Check out our gallery below with some of the real time Tweets we’ve been screen-grabbing from the ladies’ accounts to get their side of what went down at Renee’s party, a.k.a. World War III, as Big Ang would call it.
What goes on behind the scenes at an award show? Well, if it’s the 17th Annual Critics’ Choice Movie Awards, it turns out that you have to deal with some pretty demanding hosts. In this new promo for the CCMA’s, watch as the mayhem ensues when you put Rob Huebel and Paul Scheer in charge of running this thing, and tune in on January 12 at 8 p.m. ET/PT to see what happens onstage, too.
Funny story: Way back in 2008, my first job writing for the VH1 Blog came when I was asked to recap the second season of The Pickup Artist. You remember, that was the show where Mystery, the crazily-dressed master at getting women outta his dreams and into his car, taught a group of geeky guys how to be charming? You remember, Mystery, ready for a Ren Faire at any moment, charming, weird, and slightly attractive in a way you can’t put your finger on:
Well, we just heard that James Franco, another dude who is charming, weird, and slightly attractive in a way we can’t put our finger on, is in negotiations to play Mystery in a movie. (Also, it would not surprise us to learn that James Franco has a “ready-for-a-Ren-Faire-at-any-moment” outfit, too, but that’s off-topic.) The movie would be an adaptation of the book The Game, written by Neil Strauss. In real life, Mystery taught Strauss all of his seductive, smooth moves (a.k.a. “The Mystery Method”), the process of which became the basis of this pickup artist’s bible. Personally, if we had to cast anyone in this role, well, Franco would be the perfect man for the job.

Have you been wondering where in the world the Mob Wives are today? Wonder no more…we found two of them in Times Square. Drita D’Avanzo and Renee Graziano were hanging with VH1 president Tom Calderone and Viacom’s Music and Logo Group President Van Toffler, who were all on hand to ring the NASDAQ Stick Market’s closing bell. Some of our colleagues were on hand to watch the whole thing happen in person (jealous) and send us their firsthand photos and GIFs of the occasion. As Drita joked on Twitter today, “Ringing closing bell is better than wringing necks.”

Jim Jones tells his side of the proposal story in this sneak peek from the upcoming episode of Love And Hip Hop (and it is ADORABLE, sorry if that ruins your cred, Jim, but it’s true). More important than that, Jim shows off some of his, um, assets too. We’ll let this image speak for itself, and in the meantime, check out this sneak and tune in on Monday night at 8 p.m. ET/PT for the full episode.
