Sneak Peek! T.I Goes Backstage With Taylor Swift On T.I. and Tiny: The Family Hustle

This week on T.I. and Tiny: The Family Hustle, T.I. is invited to join Taylor Swift on stage for the Atlanta leg of her Speak Now tour. We’ve got a sneak peek of the episode for you — a revealing behind the scenes meet and greet between Taylor and T.I. prior to the concert! The two shake hands, talk stage directions, and T.I. thanks Taylor profusely and on multiple occasions in the short clip for inviting him to be part of her show. Gushing his appreciation, T.I. says “As a dinosaur in this industry to have the leader of such a young audience call me and even consider me to come out there, that was flattering.” Naw shucks, what a love fest! If you weren’t in Atlanta for Taylor’s concert you can watch a fan’s recording of the duet they performed to “Live Your Life” after the jump, and you can tune in to catch more from this encounter on the next episode of T.I. and Tiny: The Family Hustle, airing on VH1 on Monday, December 12 at 9 p.m. ET/8 CT.

Kanye West Has An Emo Moment, Gives A Shout-Out To Philly Native (And Ex-GF) Amber Rose

It’s no secret that Kayne West has a lot of emotions and that he likes to talk about them. The dude just feels a lot of things, okay? He’s modern, for crying out loud. And it’s become somewhat of a signature move of his to pause mid-concert to reflect and share, which he did last night at the Philadelphia leg of his (and Jay-Z‘s) Watch The Throne tour.

It was all about heartbreak for Yeezy last night, as between “Runaway” (a song about how much of a jerk he was to Amber Rose) and “Heartless” (possibly a song about how much of a jerk Amber Rose was to him, although it’s speculative), he stopped to shout out to all the couples in the crowd. Saying, “I know love ain’t always easy,” Kanye asked the people of Philly to do him a favor and hold onto their loves “real tight”. He then riffed briefly to “Runaway” before pausing again to thank Philly for “the incredible person this song was made for,” namely, his ex Amber Rose. Looks like someone’s doing a bit of pining. Regrets much, Yeezy?

Amy Winehouse’s Collaboration With Nas, “Like Smoke,” Surfaces

The release of Amy Winehouse‘s posthumous album, Amy Winehouse Lioness: Hidden Treasures, is imminent, and now the first single off the record has made its way onto the Internet. The track, “Like Smoke” featuring rapper Nas, is rather haunting, as Amy’s moody vocal pierces the bluesy, gentle music accompanying her. The song takes on an extra poignancy given Amy’s death earlier this year, and as a never before heard track, it resounds as a testament to the sheer might of Amy’s tonal inflections and organic sultry voice, amplifying the tragedy of her demise.

While Amy’s parts were recorded in 2008, it seems that Nas’ rap was only added recently, as he makes references to the current Occupy Wall Street protests. There’s a certain melancholy to Amy’s voice and lyrics, as she sings the hook, “Like smoke, I hung around in the unbalanced.” Listening to “Like Smoke” is giving us chills, and a heavy sense of loss, but we can’t help but wonder if we’d take the same sentiment from the song if it had have been released during Amy’s lifetime. Either way, we’d still love it, even if it wasn’t weighed with Amy’s untimely passing. Now, we can’t wait to hear the rest of the album in the hopes it will be just as beautifully moving as “Like Smoke”.

Tuned In: Jimmy Fallon Bieberfies For “(It’s Not My) Baby”

Yesterday, the Twitterverse exploded when Justin Bieber was hit with a paternity suit by a 20-year-old Californian woman. Never mind the issue of statutory rape, we all started chanting “Maury!” as the Bieb-Father scandal overshadowed the hysteria surrounding KardashianGate. Enter Jimmy Fallon, performing as his alter-ego Justin Bieber, parodying JB’s hit “Baby” with what we predict to be an even bigger hit, “(It’s Not My) Baby” on his show, Late Night With Jimmy Fallon. Busting some awesomely accurate Bieber dance moves, Fallon makes a surprisingly convincing teen idol, and we guarantee you’ll be starting your day with giggles if you click play above…

Justin Bieber Freestyles Over “Otis,” Earns New Respect In Our Eyes

If you were born before the year 1993, it’s probably safe to say that you don’t entirely “get” Justin Bieber. After all, you already graduated past the whole floppy-haired-teen-idol-unrequited-love-affair-kissing-posters-to-sleep-at-night thing and have moved onto other crushworthy objects of desire (Hello, Ryan Gosling? If you’re reading this, call us, beb!). That’s all about to change.

After clicking a link on our Twitter feed earlier today out of morbid curiosity, we were suddenly confronted with Bieber freestyling over the beat from Kayne West & Jay-Z‘s “Otis” on LA’s Power 106 radio station. By now, it’s clear that his singing voice has been irreparably changed by the onset of puberty, but his rapping voice? That’s something else entirely. The Biebs proves himself to be not just an adequate rapper but, dare we say, a skilled MC who’s able to spit pop culture savvy lines like “Thanked Jesus at the awards I’m never going to hell / Call me Zack Morris, I’m saving you by the bell” with bona fide aplomb. Maybe this kid’s 15 minutes aren’t going to expire anytime soon, after all.

Foster The People’s “Call It What You Want Video” Resembles Gossip Girl On Hallucinogens (In A Good Way)

Foster The People‘s new video for “Call It What You Want” is the most lavish of their young career. Since their humble beginnings with “Pumped Up Kicks,” Foster The People have been featured as a You Oughta Know artist, and now are on the fast track to superstardom with their quirky brand of infectious electro-pop. We’ve been bopping our shoulders all morning at our desks as we listen to the new single, so one thing’s for sure — we absolutely love “Call It What You Want.”

The video, on the other hand, is a little bit more interesting and requires more than just a toe tap to decipher. Set in a lavish mansion akin to the Xavier’s School For Gifted Youngsters, the video also has a decided Gossip Girl vibe, what with all the gilded, ornamental decadence and the striking resemblance of front man Mark Foster to Chace Crawford. Add some hallucinogens and the video descends quickly into madness while the band experiments with all manner of wet, exploding and popping things, while ignoring the scantily-clad female fans screaming beneath their balcony.

And not only are the fans ignored, they’re shot at with Mark Foster’s finger gun, exploding blue paint from their chests in a gruesomely vibrant simulation. We can’t decide if it’s a thinly veiled metaphor — Foster The People’s priority is to experiment and create rather than to lavish in fame — or if it’s just a super fun, tongue-in-cheek kitschy kind of video. Either way, we hope the fish flopping on the floor towards the start of the video made it back into its tank alive…

Kelly Clarkson And Rihanna Each Earn Milestones On This Week’s Billboard Charts

Rihanna‘s “We Found Love” (featuring Calvin Harris) hit the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 charts today, marking her 11th (!) song to hit #1 on the charts. All of her hard work is clearly paying off, as she is now inducted into an illustrious group that includes The Beatles, Mariah Carey, Michael Jackson, Madonna, The Supremes and Whitney Houston as the only artists to reach this plateau. Singling out female performers, this achievement puts her in a tie with Whitney Houston for the female artists with the most #1 hits all-time, trailing only Mariah (18) and Madonna (12).

Also scoring a big milestone this week is Kelly Clarkson, whose new single “Mr. Know It All” has just become her ninth Top Ten hit. We were lucky enough to see Kelly perform this song (and a few as-yet-unnamed others) when she taped VH1 Unplugged last week, and we’re giddy with excitement over the rocketing success of her new single and album, Stronger. You’ll be able to catch Kelly’s full Unplugged performance when it premieres exclusively on VH1.com at 7 p.m. ET on November 17, which is just one day before the 11 p.m. premiere on VH1.

Tuned In: Robyn Brings The Disco To Leno

Dancehall queen Robyn appeared on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno last night in one of her signature boldly-colored get ups, singing “Call Your Girlfriend” from her album Body Talk (which she performed one night earlier at the O Music Awards). True to form, Robyn delivered a high energy performance complete with the amazingly infectious dance moves that she’s become famous for. With Robyn’s somewhat contradictory style—upbeat electro tunes paired with sad and darkly melancholic lyrics—”Call Your Girlfriend” is the perfect song for the broken-hearted; not only do the words let you wallow, the beats will have you dancing your blues away, literally.
