Adele Cancels Remaining Committments For 2011 And Prepares To Undergo Surgery

The Guardian is reporting that superstar singer/songwriter Adele will be canceling her remaining tour commitments and all other appearances in order to undergo throat surgery. But don’t panic! According to reports, Adele’s condition is manageable, and a full recovery is expected. The surgery has become a priority for Adele as a consequence of ongoing problems including a vocal cord hemorrhage earlier this month. Apparently, the damage to Adele’s throat has been caused not by her singing, but rather by her constant chattering off stage — Adele’s exuberance and talkative charms.

The 23-year-old has resolved to set aside the rest of 2011 to promote a full recovery rather than her top-selling album, 21, in a bid to avoid any long-term or permanent damage to her beautiful voice. While we’re sure lots of fans are going to be bummed out by the news, we’re getting behind Adele with a resounding “Get well soon!” Hopefully the vibrant performer can nip her throat problems in the bud now so that she can keep delivering her moving, heartfelt music to us in the future.

Jay-Z And Kanye West’s Watch The Throne Set List Is Revealed And It’s Super-Dooper Long

Jay-Z and Kanye West‘s Watch The Throne tour kicks off tonight in Atlanta, and we hope if you’re going you’ve got a strong bladder because the set list, as seen on Voyr‘s tour trailer, is a long one. With hits from the collaborative album as well as past favorites from both Hov and Yeezy’s back catalogs (including “99 Problems” and “Can’t Tell Me Nothing”), chances are you’re not going to want to leave your seat. According to the list as seen on the trailer, the concert is 41 songs long, which is a really long time to wait if you need to pee — hence the strong bladder. Better start your pelvic floor exercises now.

UnbeBIEBERble! Justin And Busta Rhymes Turn Christmas Classic “The Little Drummer Boy” Into A Club Banger

When I was a child, my dad and I used to decorate the Christmas tree together and sing “The Little Drummer Boy,” so my nostalgic recollections have me a little bit miffed at Justin Bieber‘s new take of the classic Christmas carol. The Biebs teamed up with rapper Busta Rhymes for the tune—now simply titled “Drummer Boy”—for a remix of that’s fat-beated, bass-lined and rapped-over. A very strange incarnation indeed.

Usher Parks In A Disabled Spot, Good Samartian Tries To Fight Him, Elvis Impersonator Looks On

video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsvideo player

When he’s not making love in clubs it seems that r’n’b veteran Usher still likes to make a public nuisance of himself — albeit in less sexy ways. Having parked his giant SUV in a handicapped spot outside a mall in Atlanta, Usher was accosted by an angry bystander in his very own Seinfeld moment. The deeply affronted woman took wild swings at Usher, screaming something, something about something, something, doing a lot of manic pointing and finally having to be restrained and dragged from the scene. Usher seemed characteristically nonchalant, failing to apologize for his faux pas while popping his collar and whatnot.

The best part of the whole debacle is the Elvis Presley impersonator that somehow found his way to the center of the action (apparently there was a Halloween parade near by), and the fact that the dudes filming the incident were more preoccupied with the fake Elvis than with Usher, who they only noticed at the last minute.

Under Her Umbrella: The 5 Best Covers Of Rihanna Songs

With Coldplay‘s cover of Rihanna‘s “We Found Love” currently going viral online, we’ve taken the spirit of the song to heart and revisited our favorite covers of RiRi’s songs. And yes, we’ve found love in hopeless places, falling head over heels for renditions of songs we didn’t think we could possibly love coming from anyone’s mouth but hers.

COLDPLAY – “We Found Love”
Coldplay covered Rihanna’s latest release “We Found Love” for BBC Radio 1′s Live Lounge series and we’re afraid to say this but… it might just be as good, or better than, the original! Earning Coldplay some serious points in the wake of their new album Mylo Xyloto‘s growing momentum, the cover replaces the Calvin Harris club banging beats with a more chilled out vibe. As such, the sentiment in Coldplay’s version is far more pervasive than in RiRi’s self-conscious original, in which the accompanying adds elements of superficiality to (what Coldplay has proved to be) the wonderful lyricism of the track.

Beyonce Invites Solange, J. Cole and Kelly Rowland To Her “Party”

Last night, Beyoncé‘s video for “Party” featuring J. Cole was released and there’s no use pretending that we’ve done anything else but watch it on repeat ever since. Taking productivity to an all time low and desire to party with Beyoncé vibes to an all time high, we’re swooning, head nodding and finger clicking along with Bey’s delectable, candy-colored, bling-adorned party scene. The retro-ghetto fab outfits, bare skin and constant jumpin’ jumpin’ of background party goers is a last glance back at summer, and a welcome escape from the mundaneness of everyday life.

Tuned In: The Civil Wars Bring Romance To Letterman

Last night on Letterman, VH1 You Oughta Know artist The Civil Wars took their unique brand of heartfelt romance to the stage to perform “Poison & Wine”. Pared back and romantic, the live performance saw the duo crooning under whimsical, dappled light. With a piano, a guitar and voices and their only instruments, the performance was stirring, melancholic, and almost heart breaking for anyone relating to the ups and downs of being in love (read: everyone).

Be Relevant This Halloween: How To Dress As 2011′s Biggest Music Moments And Memes

Halloween is coming up and it’s time to start getting serious about costumes if you don’t want to be a sexy [insert noun here] or a regular-person-but-just-covered-in-blood-because-that’s-all-you-had-time-to-buy. This Halloween dare to be a little bit braver, a little more irreverent, and a little more clever with your costumes. That’s right folks — no more Lady Gaga get ups, lest you be deemed “like, sah 2010!” There’s a wealth of cultural reference at your disposal this year, with 2011 being renamed the Chinese Year Of The Meme (it hasn’t really, I just said that to get your attention). We’ve picked out some of our favourite musical memes of the year in the hopes that you’ll be inspired to trick yourself out in the spirit of a wickedly self-aware Halloween…

PREGONCÉ

Why? Only the baby of hip-pop royalty Jay-Z and Beyoncé could become an Internet meme and every GIF aficionado’s wet dream before the little tyke is even born. Barely beyond conception, Baby Bey-Z hit the Internet harder than “Friday” (see below) and made “Pregoncé” a word faster than you can say, “I don’t think you’re ready for this jelly.” For Halloween, go as Pregoncé in the costume she wore at the VMAs earlier this year when she unleashed unveiled her newly rounded belly to the world.

How? We’ll start from the top down: first you need some crazy 70′s flicked blonde hair, wig it if you’re a brunette or a dude, and if you’re already blessed with the golden tresses, heat up those rollers, girl! Next you’ll need a white shirt (stuffed with a pillow, of course we don’t expect you to actually get pregnant) and black pants; easy. The sparkle blazer might be a bit harder. I suggest taking a cheap / second hand blazer, a can of spray on glue, a butt-load of glitter and having the absolute time of your life. Add some velcro to the inside of the blazer so it’s easy to rip open over the course of Halloween as you constantly re-enact the big reveal. Carry around a fake microphone so you can throw it down dramatically before you rub your belly emphatically and smile, smile, smile!
