Jessie Ware Credits Love And Hip Hop For Making Her Seem Cool In Front Of The Roots

This week’s episode of Love And Hip Hop featured a scene in which Jen and Consequence put their differences aside to celebrate their son’s first birthday, a scene that was scored by up-and-coming British soul chanteuse Jessie Ware‘s “Wildest Moments.” We caught up with Ware in New York City earlier this morning here at our Times Square headquarters, less than 12 hours after Ware performed a stunning set in front of a sold-out audience at New York City’s Bowery Ballroom. During our conversation, she confessed how the song’s placement in Love And Hip Hop gave her instant cred with the legendary Roots crew.

“[On Wednesday night], I did Late Night With Jimmy Fallon,” she explained. “I was rehearsing ‘Wildest Moments’ with The Roots, and they said, ‘Oh yeah, we love this song.’ And I was like, ‘You don’t know this song, how have you heard it?’ And they went, ‘We heard it on Love And Hip Hop, it’s really cool.’ And I was like, ‘Thank you VH1, The Roots think I’m cool!'”

So there you have it! Be sure and check out VH1 Tuner for more with the fabulous Jessie Ware, and while you’re at it, take a listen to her new EP If You’re Never Gonna Move (Cherrytree/Interscope), in stores now! And, as always, to find out more about the songs that are featured in each and every episode of our shows, bookmark our As Heard On blog today.

Chad Johnson Arrested On Domestic Violence Charges After An Argument With Evelyn Lozada

Chad “Ocho Cinco” Johnson was arrested tonight at the Florida home he shares with his new wife, Evelyn Lozada, on domestic violence charges. The South Florida Sun-Sentinal reports that Johnson, who is currently in training camp with the NFL’s Miami Dolphins, and Lozada were returning home from dinner when an argument broke out between the two.

“By the time they get home here in Davie it’s pretty heated,” Davie Police Department Capt. Dale Engle tells the Sun-Sentinal. “She alleges he leaned over and head butted her. He says she leaned towards him and that they butted heads. Needless to say she has a good laceration on her forehead.”

Chad Ochocinco Gets Cut From New England Patriots

After spending one season as a member of the New England Patriots, Chad Ochocinco was released from his contract with the team earlier this afternoon. Unsurprisingly, the controversial wideout and fiancé of Basketball Wives star Evelyn Lozada took to Twitter to tell the Beantown fans that they were “f***ing wicked awesome,” while at the same time changing his Twitter bio so that it reads “UNEMPLOYED BLACK GUY.”

Evelyn, being the precocious person that she is, also mentioned the news on Twitter:
Aww baby you got cut @ochocinco I got your back! I'm the bread winner now, which means I make the rules! ?#Boom

Wait, was she just throwing shade at the man who will soon become her husband? Read more…

Rising Pop Star Rita Ora Has Got Mad Love For Drita From Mob Wives

Rita Ora Has Mad Love For Drita D'avanzo

You may not have heard the name Rita Ora yet, but it’s seemingly only a matter of time before she becomes a household name. The UK-based pop star is Jay-Z‘s latest protégé, and is already being called “the new Rihanna.” Ora, whose song “How We Do (Party)” is in the running for this year’s Song Of The Summer crown, was born and raised in Albania, so when she popped by our offices here in Times Square recently, we made sure to ask her about a member of the VH1 family with Albanian roots: Drita D’avanzo from Mob Wives.

“I love her, she is my GIRL!,” Rita joyously explained. “She’s the prime example of an independent woman … [Albanian women] sometimes do come across as agressive, but it’s always from a good place, you know? Unless you trigger us wrong!” Then, Rita turned directly to the camera to proclaim, “Keep doing your thing on Mob Wives, and I’ll still be watching you Drita. I really am supporting her!”

Well, apparently the feeling is mutual. Drita and Rita exchanged complimentary tweets the other night, which we have for you below!
