Have you been paying attention to all of the new updates over at VH1’s Posted site? As we told you yesterday, we’re psyched that John Legend and The Roots have decided to share some insight with us as to what their day-to-day lives are really like for the entire month of August. In today’s installment, ?uestlove grabs his video camera and gives us an exclusive tour of the room where The Roots spend all day prepping for the Late Night With Jimmy Fallon. If you pay close enough attention, you’ll even get to see ?uesto’s broken Grammy award.
We really hope that you enjoyed getting up close and personal with Sara Bareilles during the month of July as part of VH1’s Posted feature. While we’re certainly going to miss Sara’s wonderful daily updates, we’re excited to announce that John Legend and The Roots will be hooking you, the VH1 reader, up with exclusive content for the entire month of August! In case you hadn’t heard, these two dynamic forces are teaming up for a new album, Wake Up!, which is set to be released on September 21. Judging by the footage that popped up on John Legend’s YouTube page a few weeks back, the full length album is shaping up to be something special.
But more on that later! What we want from you now is quite simple. As we did with both Adam Lambert and Sara Bareilles, we’re asking you to submit questions for John Legend and The Roots right here on the VH1 Blog. All you have to do is leave a comment below that includes your question and we’ll make sure that John, ?uestlove and the rest of the guys take a look at it. They’ll be answering back in video form later this month, so start submitting your questions today and be sure to follow them on their special Posted page all month long!
Below, we’ve got a quick taste for you of “Hard Times,” the collaboration betweeen The Roots and John Legend that we mentioned above. Enjoy! Read more…
Did you hear the news? In a match made in VH1 heaven, Terrell Owens will be joining his friendly rival Chad Ochocinco as a wide receiver on the Cincinnati Bengals this season. The two have been duking it out for Sunday night supremacy as the stars of The T.O. Show and Ochocinco: The Ultimate Catch for the last few weeks, but come Sundays this fall, the two longtime friends will both be sporting orange and black uniforms, standing on the same sideline and doing everything they can to take the Bengals to the Super Bowl.
However, the T.O. era in Cincinnati got off to a bumpy start this morning. Reports out of Georgetown, KY — where the Bengals are holding their pre-season practices — say that T.O. missed his flight last night, resulting in him not being able to attend this morning’s practice or his scheduled 11 a.m. press conference. Never fear, though, the press conference has been rescheduled for later tonight, at which point in time we’ll get to see T.O. don a Bengals jersey for the first time. Let’s just hope that T.O. makes his next flight!
Back in the summer of 2008, it seemed like you couldn’t go anywhere without hearing Estelle‘s monster smash, “American Boy.” After spending two years on the road and in the studio (not to mention collecting a Grammy along the way, too!), Estelle is back with her new single, “Fall In Love,” and her new album, All Of Me. Even though you’ll have to wait until September 28 to hear her whole album, we’ve got a :30 sneak of the hot new video for you today. We’ll have the whole video premiere ready for you to watch online tomorrow, and also be sure to keep an eye out on the weekly VH1 Top 20 Video Countdown to see how this song — that also features Nas and John Legend! — performs this summer.
Oops! The recent Behind The Music episode on Usher mistakenly stated that his ex-girlfriend, recording artist Chilli, was previously married to producer Dallas Austin. Though the two had a long relationship that produced their son, Tron, they were never married. VH1 regrets the error.
It’s hard to believe it, but a quick check of the calendar shows that we’re almost halfway through the summer. Yes, already! On a related note, a quick check of the pop charts and our own Top 20 Video Countdown shows that Katy Perry‘s “California Gurls” has had a stranglehold on the top spot for the last few weeks, clearly cementing herself as the favorite to take home the this year’s Song of the Summer prize. However, don’t go engraving her name on the award just yet! Atlanta’s prodigal son, T.I., has been out of the clink and hard at work in the studio for a few months now and is ready to enter the race with “Got Your Back” (with a chorus featuring the sultry vocals of Keri Hilson). We’re excited to bring you a :30 sneak of the video here on the VH1 Blog today, and be sure to tune in to our Top 20 Video Countdown this weekend to see the whole thing. Let us know what you think in the comments!
Have you ever wondered what happens to groupies when they get to be too old to stay on the road? Well, as you might expect, the transition from backstage to old age is not always a pleasant one. However, thanks to Bret Michaels and his new charity effort, Groupie Love, all of the Backstage Bettys out there now have a supportive, nurturing environment to settle down in. Can you find it in your heart of hearts to help the cause?
Only kidding, of course! The clip you just watched is an EXCLUSIVE sneak preview of some of the fun that’s to come at tonight’s 2010 Do Something Awards. Don’t forget to tune in tonight at 9/8c! Oh yeah, one last thing. If you decide to tweet about the show tonight, remember to use the hashtag #DSAwards. Enjoy the show tonight!
Well, sort of. You see, we caught up with Terrell Owens, star of The T.O. Show, and Chad Ochocinco, star of Ochocinco: The Ultimate Catch, in Harlem’s legendary Rucker Park the other night for a spirited game of basketball. Well, sort of; Chad didn’t actually end up playing. Instead, he coached his team from the sidelines. Still, that didn’t stop T.O. and Chad from wagering a small bet on the outcome. Specifically, the losing side would have to do 85 (get it?) push-ups at center court? Find out who won by watching the video above!
