Howling With The Wolf Pack

ray2reunion_29c

As promised in our behind-the-scenes write-up of the For the Love of Ray J 2 reunion, here is our extended chat with the Wolf Pack. Heartbreaker does most of the steering (with a series of amazing one-liners like, “In my face, you can tell I’m a bitch”), while Luscious and Plat back her up in a journey through smack talk. Keep in mind that most of the conversation transcribed below was delivered urgently, with each speaker regularly overlapping and interjecting the other. From Mz Berry to Exotica to Ray J himself, the Wolf Pack chews up and spits out almost everyone they shared the screen with. It just wouldn’t be like them to not.

Return Of The Smash: Behind The Scenes At The For The Love Of Ray J 2 Reunion

ray2reunion_top2

Gratitude is not an emotion you come across very often on reality-show sets (at least, not in my limited experience), but there was a pervasive air of appreciation last week on the set of the For the Love of Ray J 2 reunion. Backstage of the studio in Glendale where it was shot, the women who made up most of the show’s cast repeatedly told me how thankful they were to get to clear things up for the viewing audience. Editing has a way of begging explanation, as pretty much the entire existence of my job can attest.

I, too, was grateful for the opportunity to be there - there hasn’t been a VH1 reunion taping since last May, and I rarely feel more in my element then when surrounded by a group of women who’ve been on reality TV. Where else can you go to see so many clothed women in the same place projecting an attitude and fashion sense that reads, “F*** a stigma; I’m wearing lucite.”

For me, this reunion was like a welcome return to simpler times. I wouldn’t go as far as saying it was a return to the womb, but maybe the cradle. It’s a magical cradle wherein you sleep with one eye open, and the sounds of smack talk and sucking teeth are like lullabies. Come, let’s get infantile…

For The Love Of Ray J 2 Reunion He Said/She Said

ray2reunion_66

The For the Love of Ray J 2 reunion airs Monday, February 8 at 8/7c, but you can get a brief preview of it now by checking out some quotes from the taping below. Try to figure out who said what, and then tune in Monday to see if you’re right. (Note that these came from the taping, not the finished cut of the episode, so these may not make it into what you see on TV.)

1. “I do model, for goodness sakes, girls. I’ve always had my jobs.”

2. “I ain’t on no Hollywood s***!”

3. “I am a handful.”

4. “I feel deeply. I’m a very passionate person. I feel.”

5. “You are so fake, you will never have a good friend!”

6. “Why lie and be fake like most of the girls on this show?”

7. “I don’t really like turmoil.”

And, as a bonus, the next few quotes are all from Ray. Try to figure out which girl he’s referring to in them:

1. “Your English is getting good, girl!”

2. “Have you ever hung out with pimps?”

3. “Just ’cause she a whole foot taller then me doesn’t mean I’m scared!”

4. “I didn’t see what I was supposed to see.”

5. “I don’t want you to, like, die if this doesn’t work.”

Tool Academy 3: Check Out Clips!

In addition to the Tool Academy 3 supertrailer, here are some more looks at the upcoming season (premiering Sunday, February 14 at 9/8c). In the first clip from the premiere above, the tools attempt to act toolish (in what must be the portion of the premiere that is before the Tool Academy reveal). They often fail and fall and the entire thing is very satisfying.

Celebrity Fit Club: Boot Camp: Watch The Supertrailer

The new season of Celebrity Fit Club: Boot Camp is set to premiere Monday, February 8 at 9/8c, but you can get an early look at it above in the extended trailer. Everyone’s freaking out: Bobby Brown is ripped, Shar Jackson is sick of people asking about her ex Kevin Federline, said ex looks like a pregnant man and Bad Girls Club’s Tanisha gets into it hardcore with drill instructor Harvey Walden IV. After watching this, there’s just one question: want some swine flu?

The Celebreality Interview - RuPaul

What a treat this interview was: it’s not everyday that you get to meet the most well-known person in his professional field. But that day came last week when RuPaul, the most famous drag queen in all the land, visited the VH1 Digital office to talk about the new season of his show, RuPaul’s Drag Race, his life, his culture and his career. In the clip above, Ru and I discuss camp and the unlikeliness of constructing reality around parody (which Drag Race does in its structural send-up of America’s Next Top Model and Project Runway). In the clip below, Ru talks about his affection for the drag queens that are competing on his show.

Danger Detained For Arson

rayj_9_b9_19

Things have gone from exhausting to down right depressing — TMZ reports that yesterday, after a 911 call regarding a fire in Monica “Danger” Leon’s apartment, police called in arson investigators and detained Danger. TMZ’s latest update claims that Danger is on 72-hour watch.

I could editorialize, but I’m throwing up my hands instead. [TMZ]

Mackenzie Phillips Revises Incest Claim

mackenzie

Celebrity Rehabber Mackenzie Phillips sent shockwaves through pop culture last fall when she admitted to an incestuous affair with her famous father John Phillips (of the Mamas and the Papas) that she described as “consensual.” Recently, Mackenzie recanted her claim slightly on Joy Behar’s talk show. Says Mackenzie: “As I was writing the book, I thought, this word, it kept sitting wrong with me, but I used it for lack of a better word, and since then I’ve been schooled by thousands of incest survivors all across the world that there really is no such thing as consensual incest due to the inherent power a parent has over a child…So, I wouldn’t necessarily call it a consensual relationship at this time.”

Dr. Drew expressed much the same sentiment when we interviewed him about this season. He said in our interview: “One of the things that she went around saying was that this is something that happens to a lot of people. She’s right: it’s not that uncommon. Her perception of it as something that was consensual is a little distorted, a little unusual, but the fact of a dad having sexually abused his daughter is something we see all the time…You have to remember that’s a child’s perspective. It’s a distortion. How can a child consent to something like that?”

In other Rehab news, Kari Ann Peniche has recorded a pop song called, “U and Me and Tiger Makes 3,” a somewhat late reference to Tiger Woods’ sex scandal, which (as far as we know) she had no part in. It’d be hypocritical to wonder why she isn’t minding her own business, though. [CNN]
