VH1 is happy to announce a new series with La La Vazquez tentatively called La La’s Full Court Life on the same day that her husband Carmelo Anthony makes his debut as the Knicks’ new forward. Premiering in August, the 10 episode docu-series will continue where La La’s Full Court Wedding left off as La La and Melo move to New York City. Full details after the jump.

Earlier this month Adele stopped by a studio in Harlem to perform a six-song set for VH1 Unplugged. We have the song known as “The Contradictions Track,” which is “(You Make Me Feel Like A) Natural Woman,” in advance of the show’s online premiere March 3. It may seem like a dangerous move for any singer to cover Aretha Franklin. Is there a more surefire way to feel inadequate?
But Adele smartly introduced the song by saying she wouldn’t attempt to reinterpret it. While we agree with her sentiment (and respect for Aretha), turns out no disclaimer was needed. Listening up-close to Adele’s mellow but true rendition, which required only minimal guitar and keys, it seemed to us there is no one Adele can’t cover with her powerful, nuanced singing.

We just got our hands on 30 seconds of Britney Spears‘ new video for “Hold It Against Me,” the single off her upcoming album that cleverly pairs throbbing club beats with lyrics about a dancefloor pickup. Considering the nature of the song, it’s no surprise that Brit reportedly gets naked in this video. Oops, she did it again! What does surprise us is the sky-high stack of speakers, TVs, lights and cameras — all of which surround dancers who occasionally aren’t subject to the laws of gravity. It looks like a frenetic multimedia blitzkrieg and we can’t help but wonder if this represents a glimpse inside Britney’s brain? Or maybe it’s our collective conscious thinking about Britney? Deep!
The full video for “Hold It Against Me” debuts on MTV Thursday at 9:56PM EST and shortly after on VH1. What’s your verdict of this 30-second clip? Will it hit No. 1 on VH1 Top 20? And with her new album due out March 29, does Britney have a shot at reclaiming her Queen of Pop title?

After watching the taping of Adele‘s VH1 Unplugged today, it makes perfect sense that she performed for VH1 Divas in 2009. Adele has a huge and distinct voice, exudes both confidence and vulnerability, and keeps an audience on edge with mildly shocking vulgarities and amusing lapses of Too-Much-Information. Also, her second album, 21, to be released Feb. 22 in the U.S., is all about heartbreak, a familiar topic to the classic soul divas she emulates. Adele kicked off the show by singing “Someone Like You,” a new ballad that is the dead opposite of “First Love” from her first album, 19, in that she’s not the one who needs to “taste the kiss from someone new.” This time, it’s the guy’s turn:
I heard that you’re settled down.
That you found a girl and you’re married now.
I heard that your dreams came true.
Guess she gave you things I didn’t give to you.

VH1 is kicking off the legendary Unplugged franchise in 2011 with soulful singer Adele, the former VH1 You Oughta Know artist whose sophomore album has been dominating charts in Europe since being released 
internationally Jan. 24. Sorry America, you have to wait until Feb. 22. The Adele Unplugged premieres online March 3 and airs on VH1 March 4 at 11/10c. We’ll be at the taping of the show this Thursday, Feb. 3, getting up close to hear how her raw voice sounds in a super intimate setting (yep, hard work!).
Expect exclusive pics and videos in the coming weeks and follow both VH1 and TheFABlife on Twitter for real-time updates from the taping at 2/1c. While we’re guessing Adele will mostly cover material from her new album, 21, we know she’ll be performing “The Contradictions Track” — an unlikely cover song thanks to Unplugged sponsor Starburst. The VH1 Save the Music Foundation is teaming up for an online auction with Adventures of Power, the air-drum 
comedy flick starring Entourage‘s Adrian Grenier and Glee‘s Jane Lynch. This rolling auction will feature new items through March 16, and was kicked off last night at the movie’s DVD release party in L.A. Items include instruments signed by Ringo Starr, Lars Ulrich (Metallica), The Ramones, Ween, Weezer, Judas Priest, and, of course, Adrian Grenier, who not only sings on the Adventures of Power soundtrack (witness the spectacle above), but is also in a real life alt-country act. Last year, the event was hosted by Glee‘s Jane Lynch and featured appearances by Megan Fox, the Jonas Brothers and others. Of course, the real star of the night was last year’s grand prize winner, Jessica Posner (pictured above), who founded a school for girls and community center in Africa’s largest slum. In addition to the grand prize, five nominees will be rewarded with a $10,000 community grant.

Last Monday, we revealed the nominees for the 2011 Critics Choice Movie Awards. Today, we’ve got CCMA-related news that we could not be any more psyched about. The Grammy Award winning band Maroon 5 has agreed to be the house band during our January 14th broadcast of the 16th Annual Critics’ Choice Awards. FRIDAY, JANUARY 14 AT 9:00 PM ET/PT(SANTA MONICA, CA – December 20, 2010) – Maroon 5 will be taking center stage at this year’s Critics’ Choice Movie Awards as the evening’s house band where they will perform classic hits as well a few of their original songs between awards and commercials. They will also perform in the middle of the red carpet during the live pre-show in addition to the official after-party – a first for a Critics’ Choice Movie Awards house band. Maroon 5 is fronted by lead singer Adam Levine in addition to keyboardist Jesse Carmichael, bass guitarist Mickey Madden, lead guitarist James Valentine and drummer Matt Flynn. The 16th annual Critics’ Choice Movie Awards will air live on VH1 on Friday, January 14, 2011 at 9:00 PM ET/PT.
