We invited VH1 Top 20 host Jim Shearer to share his observations from VH1′s Best Cruise Ever, which featured more than a dozen bands and sailed from Tampa to Cozumel.
I’m on land again, which means VH1′s second annual Best Cruise Ever is now over. The Script was wonderful (my favorite live show during our four days at sea), I met a bunch of cool people who keep me employed by waking up early every Saturday morning to watch the Top 20 Countdown, I got to eat warm chocolate cake every night for dessert (mmm), and my band even got to play a couple of sets on the boat. I forgot to bring my diary on the cruise, so a pocket cam had to do. Here’s my recap. Enjoy! — Jim Shearer
Lest you think that we had forgotten about our valiant green screen warriors, John Polly and Jon Mallow (of Logo’s NewNowNext blog, natch), we’ve got a special surprise for you today. We’ve got not one but TWO episodes of Drag Ya Later!
Sadly, we neglected to post last week’s recap in a timely fashion, but since we’re completists, we’ve got that for you below. Above, we’ve got John and Jon’s most recent video recap from episode 12 of RuPaul’s Drag Race 3, which aired earlier this week on both LOGO and VH1. Looking for a good reason to watch? We’ve got two words for you: LaToya! Jackson! ‘Nuff said.

It’s been said that VH1 Unplugged is a contradiction in music, going from big audiences to a small and plugged to unplugged. So it makes sense that Starburst, whose tagline is “it’s a juicy contradiction,” was excited to present “The Contradictions Track,” where artists perform a different kind of song for the audience, one that’s not their own. Before Adele taped VH1 Unplugged, we asked what cover you’d most like to hear her tackle. Among the responses were Sheryl Crow, Grace Potter, Patsy Cline and Ozzy Osbourne. But Adele sang Aretha Franklin, probably a more daunting act to cover than any of the suggestions. Even though Adele has a world-class voice and specializes in a vintage soul/R&B sound, we wondered how you’d react to a 22-year-old Brit covering one of America’s all-time greatest singers. After the jump, some of the responses from our live viewing party.
In a sneak to Charlie Sheen: Winning … Or Losing It?, we mentioned that Dr. Drew has made repeated comments about Charlie Sheen‘s psychiatric state. But in this one-hour VH1 News special, Dr. Drew teams up with a roster of mental health professionals to provide the most comprehensive diagnosis to date. Dr. Drew first explains why his experience allows him to diagnose someone he’s never met, then shares the details of his opinion:
“It is clear that Charlie Sheen is showing signs of Hypomania, an elevated mood that can occur with or without depressive episodes. Hypomania is the hallmark symptom of another larger psychiatric condition, bipolar disorder. Inflated with their own grandiosity patients may boast of their own achievements and special abilities.”
While Dr. Drew said Charlie’s condition is as serious as any patient he’s ever treated, he doesn’t think it’s too late. The video below explains what must happen for Charlie to get better. (Hint: It starts with an intervention).

Get ready for a new type of Inception—Lil Wayne‘s just dropped the video for “6′ 7′” and it’s a flashy tribute to the Christopher Nolan blockbuster. Granted, there doesn’t seem to be much going on in Wayne’s mind except a steady stream of gorgeous women in tight, shiny dresses, but remember: the dreamer should find his environment familiar or he’ll get suspicious.
Wayne spills his trademark wordplay (“black and white diamonds, f— the segregation”) all over Bangladesh‘s insistent beat in the Hype Williams-directed clip, which features some striking images of Wayne boxing, chasing after his brain and smiling as his head falls off his body. And while it’s clearly Wayne’s (dream)world, he’s happy to hand the last minute or so over to Young Money’s Cory Gunz, son of Peter “Uptown Baby” Gunz fame. Once Cory hits light speed, all Wayne can do is just watch and nod with approval. If this first single is a sign of what’s to be found on The Carter IV, this is one action franchise that won’t disappoint. Just one question: where can we buy a box of Huh-Nee Knut?
Have you always wanted to see Broadway’s smash hit musical comedy Rock Of Ages but haven’t been able to make your way to the Great White Way? If so, you’re in luck. The show, which is about to celebrate its two-year anniversary on Broadway, is currently traveling the country. After a wildly successful tour last fall, 2009 Tony nominee Constantine Maroulis (American Idol) and the rest of the company are jumping in a tour bus and bringing the electric show to a theater near you.
If you’re not familiar with the show’s history and want to learn more, check out the video above. If you’re already sold, well then, we’ve got a list of upcoming tour dates for you below!
Following The Short List’s 10 Greatest Reality TV Meltdowns (and our own sub-list of the 10 Greatest VH1 Reality Meltdowns), here’s yet another list of 10 reality meltdowns we can’t get enough of (each and every one of these clips holds up as well as it did when it first aired). We could seriously count these down all day…
Since 2010 VH1 Hip Hop Honors premieres tonight at 9/8c and shares some of the same performers with Hot 97’s Summer Jam 2010 event that took place yesterday at New Jersey’s New Meadowlands Stadium, we thought it was essential to give you a taste of both shows. Take a look below to see Summer Jam performance photos of Gucci Mane, Drizzy Drake, Fabolous, and Rick Ross (one of many to appear on DJ Khaled’s set). And don’t miss who we caught hanging around backstage: none other than Jennifer Williams from Basketball Wives. We see you, girl!
