The fact that Kimsha Artest appeared on two episodes of Basketball Wives L.A. and then seemed to have disappeared has not gone unnoticed by fans of the show. Last week, we even reported about some fake drama that the internet seemed to create between Shaunie O’Neal and Artest after a phony Facebook account for Artest was created, and the author wrote angry posts directed at Shaunie for being edited out of the show. O’Neal denied there was drama, saying she’s never even met Artest, and now we have the straight dope from the Basketball Wives producers themselves on what happened to Artest. Here you have it, the final word:
“When Kimsha Artest signed on to be in ‘Basketball Wives: LA,’ we were very excited to have her onboard. That is why we were confused and disheartened when after a limited number of days shooting she stopped showing up for filming. This is the sole and only reason Kimsha has not appeared on more episodes of the series. Her minimal coverage on the show was entirely her decision and not that of Shed Media, VH1 or Executive Producer Shaunie O’Neal.‘Basketball Wives: LA’ continues to be a ratings success for VH1 every Monday night.”
There was a feud brewing for the past couple of weeks — or so it seemed — between Basketball Wives L.A. star Kimsha Artest and Basketball Wives creator and star Shaunie O’Neal. Over on Facebook, Kimsha had been taking swipes at Shaunie on Facebook (from an account that has since been deleted) because of the fact that she hadn’t appeared on the show since episode two. Gossip rag MediaTakeOut even took the story to another level this week by claiming that Kimsha “put hands” on Shaunie and things got physical between the two of them.
But now both Shaunie and Ron Artest (sorry, Metta World Peace) have set the record straight that there is no feud at all and there definitely was no altercation. O’Neal told Madame Noire
“We’ve never met, so there is no relationship. I’ve met Ron [Artest] before a couple times, but never Kimsha, ever. I can’t say anything about her because I don’t know her. I don’t know how you fight someone that you’ve never met nor talked to. We’ve never been in the same place at the same time that I know of. And I would never ever fight somebody, I guess you’d have to meet them first to do that, and that’s never happened. So, I really don’t know where all that came from.”
And Ron tweeted this week that any of the accusations that Kimsha was making on Facebook were untrue because she doesn’t actually have a Facebook account. He wrote “Kimsha Artest on Facebook is a fake…Kimsha Artest does not like drama so that’s why yal have not seen her on the show. She doesn’t want to be seen representing females falsely.” So there you have it. No word from the real Kimsha, but we’re assuming if what Ron says is true, she’s staying out of the drama.

You watched the series premiere of Basketball Wives L.A. We know you did, it was trending all night on Twitter, you’ve been commenting on our recap, and everyone has an opinion. So far, it’s hard to compare this cast to the Miami cast (although if we had to, we’d say Gloria is the L.A. version of…Gloria), but we want to know who you think the person starting the most drama is this season. Seems like the front-runners might be wise sage Tanya, Queens-loving Kimsha, and “groupie-jumpoff” Draya, but then again, that fight between Malaysia and Laura wasn’t pretty…
Last week it was announced that the highly anticipated new series Basketball Wives L.A. will make it’s television debut on August 29th at 8 p.m. ET/PT. This week, we have your first look at all the ladies who will appear on the show.
Check out our gallery with images of all the women who are starring on the show, and read on for the full press release about the big premiere.
“Basketball Wives LA” Premieres On VH1 Monday, August 29 at 8PM ET/PT
If you’re a fan of Basketball Wives but wish you had even more off-the-court entertainment in your life, get ready for Basketball Wives L.A., coming this summer.
The new series, produced by the original Basketball Wives mastermind and queen bee Shaunie O’Neal will take a closer look at a new group of women 3,000 miles from Miami, but with just as much drama in their lives. The new cast includes Kimsha Artest (wife of Ron Artest, Los Angeles Lakers), Jackie Christie (wife of Doug Christie, former player for the Los Angeles Clippers), Imani Showalter (ex-fiance of Stephen Jackson, Charlotte Bobcats), and perhaps most dramatic of all, sisters Laura and Gloria Govan, whose lives and relationships we’re already pretty familiar with from Gloria’s appearance on season one of Basketball Wives. The new show is set to premiere on Monday, August 29th at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
