Janet Jackson never been the type to shy away from a good ol’ chat about sex (heck, she even told us her favorite songs to hypothetically make babies to), so when E! asked her who her girl crush was, Janet seemed eager to answer. Can you guess who the “Feedback” singer would want as her sapphic duet partner? Hint: she’s one of the singers pictured below.

Sad news, Janet Jackson lovers: The Discipline pop star has dropped out of performing on Saturday Night Live this weekend because she’s sick with the flu. In her place, Lorne Michaels and team have drafted Mariah Carey, who, considering her recent video with Jack McBrayer, probably has the better sense of humor. Not that humor is necessarily a factor in SNL’s choice of musical guests (although Paul Simon dressed up like a turkey was particularly memorable, as was Queens of the Stone Age’s performance with Will Ferrell), but Mariah’s sense of kitsch ought to compliment the inevitable jokes about Eliot Spitzer, rising oil prices, potential war with Iran, and penises. We predict a penis joke or two because Superbad and Knocked Up star Jonah Hill is the host. For those of you who haven’t seen Superbad, just know the following: Mr. Hill is a rather notable proponent of penis-funnies. Too bad for Janet. She would have enjoyed this one, we think. BET premiered Janet Jackson’s clip for “Rock With U.” The song has overtones of Australian club-queen Kylie Minogue, and the video’s set in a club (or sound stage, let’s be honest) that recalls a futuristic mental hospital/the well-designed drum ‘n’ bass nightspots of decades past. Janet herself is looking fairly fly, dressed in an outfit that looks a little like what might happen if Project Runway winner Christian Siriano did fetish wear. Would Christian collaborate with Janet? We suspect so, yes. Jackson is currently topping the charts with her provocative Discipline. Janet Jackson, whose new Discipline disc exudes all things sexy (listen to the entire CD for free on Rhapsody), rocked yesterday’s Good Morning America performance in an outfit any righteous Puritan would love. At first we were perplexed by her look - why pull your giant pants up over your shoulders and fasten the whole thing with a massive leather belt when you’re as hot as Ms. J? But then we realized: girl is pulling all the stops to ensure that she remains free of any and all wardrobe malfunctions. And while we understand her concern, we’re gonna be honest - we love it when Janet’s clothes come off, because we love Janet, nipple slips and all. Watch a clip of the performance after the jump. Janet Jackson is the Artist of the Week over at MTV, and in honor of her seven day reign at the network she’s made a bunch of hilarious videos parodying some of MTV’s classic shows. Janet Jackson’s forthcoming album Discipline (out Feb. 26) is full of thumping club tracks, but since Valentine’s Day is upon us, we thought we’d slow it down for our exclusive chat with the diva. Below, we grill Janet on the slow and sexy jams (or, as they’re often referred to, baby-making songs) of her career, from the song that created the mold (”Funny How Time Flies (When You’re Having Fun)” from 1986’s Control), to the steamy title track of her new album. Nothing was off limits, both musically (album cuts, b-sides and chart smashes are all covered) and topically (since Janet’s baby-making songs tend to cover the subject of, well, making babies rather thoroughly). Things start to heat up down below…

Gone Baby Gone
Casey Affleck is the Boston gumshoe hired to find a missing girl in this thoughtful thriller from novelist Dennis Lehane and director Ben Affleck. Lehane also wrote Mystic River, and the Afflecks strain for the same kind of dramatic intensity. The mark is missed, but blue-collar Boston is neatly realized, and the Oscar-nominated Casey has the smoldering intensity of a major star in the making.
Extras: Ben Affleck’s commentary provides insight into the challenges facing a first-time director, while the featurettes turn their attention to an often overlooked aspect of filmmaking — casting.
